Use external antenns for better signal reception since they are removable. Recommended as Mifi and WiFi combined usage. Not recommended for Cable internet only since it is far more expensive than a regular router with same capabilities because of Mifi. Recommended for city folks who wishes to use their add-on or extra SIM as permanent WiFi for a connection speed similar to their service provider regular speed and to save cost on monthly broadband bill. One person found this helpful

Excellent router exactly what I needed!

Very easy interface to use. Simply turn it on, connect to it and follow the instructions on screen. This router is ideal for places where traditional ADSL connections are slow. I live in a very hilly location and signal is not great, however with this router, I am able to connect to the internet well. Using a traditional broadband provider with a 'line' I could potentially achieve 38Mbps. With this 4G router, I have been able to download at 50+Mbps. Definitely worth the initial outlay and monthly fee to mobile phone provider. This device can also be used with an external router to use with a standard BT/Virgin line. You can then use the 4G part as backup in case of service outages. This can allow resilience for critial connections. Would I buy it again? Yes, in a breath.

Great Features
21 March 2020

Purchased via Office Works Australia fast click and collect.A nice easy plug and play unit. For 3G/4G use only. Currently 5G/6G will be in the distant future.Follow the quick set up guide. Install a valid sim card. Switch on. Follow the first boot prompts . It is that simple. The more advance user can download the 80 page pdf file. The unit allows for both local WiFi and four hard wired network connections. The unit has internal WiFi antenna. This may be an issue in some household situations. The two external antenna shown. Are for connection to the nearest mobile cell tower. Also one port can be connected to the NBN FTTP wall box. If and when it becomes available. After the problematic obsolete multi mix VDSL/Cable is pensioned off to the trash bin.

Got this on discount. Just moved house didn't want to get into a 24mth broadband contract. This is great pop in a 30day 4g sim works perfectly just like a regular broadband router. Connected it to 2 phones and a laptop no problems fast speed with a Smarty 4g sim card. It's deffo amplifies the signal better than a mobile just on data, is so much faster. I would deffo recommend this router it give you so many more options with some really good 4g sim only deal around. The router it's self is so simple to set up use. Download the router app to your phone put the sim in the router switch it on your online within minutes. Go to the router webpage for more customisable options for security etc. I am in no way a tech geek just not at all it really is just very simple plug ... MoreGot this on discount. Doesn’t do what it says on the tin! It works fine to provide wifi from a SIM card as we don’t have a landline. BUT as soon as you plug in a device to any of the ports the TP link shuts down. It seems although it has several USB ports you’re not supposed to use them!!

excellent 4g router recommended
4 November 2020

Simply amazing. In weak areas of signal I can achieve 12Mbps download and 6Mbps upload. In strong areas it is better than my fibre broadband 48Mbps download and 32Mbps upload. WiFi is really strong too. Configuration is a breeze, the software recognised my 3 sim, and pre populated the fields on the service tab of the router admin config page. The tether app is very useful and the unit can be set to chose the best channel. Im still learning to configure the firewall and security but I'm really impressed.
