This router work's very well once you set it up properly. The 6G work's well for the AX Devices too. I am glad they did not make this band (6G) backward compatible. It will only work for AX Devises for the given bandwidth 80/160. I would recommend this Router if you had newer WiFi Devises AX and AC.

installed this router in minutes and performance is amazing. I had three tv's streaming movies without any lag and the 2.4ghz was able to reach my security cameras with a stronger signal than my previous router. The one problem I have with this router is that I did not realize that the 6ghz band is not backwards compatible with 5ghz devices. With no devices in my house able to connect to that band I am left with only two usable bands. I could have bought a dual band router with higher 5Ghz Bandwidth for much less money. I think I may have to return this router since I am not able to take full advantage of its abilities.

It makes it easy to configure features and check the router status, and see what devices are connected. Many devices display a description, but for those that don't it is easy to identify them by IP and then rename them, and see which are connected and how.. TP-Link offers a "HomeShield Pro" service at an extra cost of $55 /year, however I did not subscribe. That offers detection of cyber threats and parental controls. Neither of those I had before, nor did I feel I needed. You do not need to subscribe to that in order set up QoS, or setting up priority of devices, and they did not seem to overly push the service as I have seen done on other routers, such as Netgear.Overall I'm very pleased with this router, its features and price point. Since it does not come bundled with satellites if you are planning to build a mesh setup for expanded coverage, you should factor that in when comparing prices, for most of the other routers with mesh normally bundle those in. If you are upgrading routers and just want slightly better coverage and the option to add satellites to it later then definitely give this one a try; I highly recommend it.

Initially, I thought I'd use it as a simple VPN gateway, but I'm super impressed with how it performs overall.Although it has an older multi-antenna setup versus the "bat wing" routers that have been increasingly more popular, the range on this is really quite impressive. I was able to maintain a solid 6E signal with near-gig throughput from 50 yards, through brick. I have a well-regarded UniFi AP that starts to **** out on AX at nearly half the distance outdoors.Where I was also impressed though was with the router's OS. It still good to cover a reasonable are of a house though.Outside of the signature "WiFi 6E / 6ghz" feature, this is a solid router all around (as TP-Link is known for). The normal 2.4ghz / 5ghz bands are steady and stable as is the wired connectivity. It is a bit of a downside that the router doesn't offer multi-gigabit ethernet connections since it has multi-gig WiFi, but that feature is currently only on much more expensive devices and this one is more meant to be WiFi centric anyhow. The setup is fast and easy if a bit no-frills/boring using either the app OR my preferred method of the web interface that gives you a lot more options. And it just works, which is what you want from a router.So a great steady and stable router with good speed and one big brand new super feature in WiFi 6E to future-proof your wireless settings. All for a reasonable price considering those features - and from a trusted name in TP-Link (I've run their networking equipment - wired and wireless - flawlessly for years) makes this a highly recommended buy.
After waiting a very long time to upgrade my router, I saw this and went for it due to Wifi 6E, even though I don't yet have any devices that make use of 6E. Signal strength is great in my small apartment and devices that use the 5GHz signal move faster. Setup was very easy. Very happy.
The Archer AXE 5400 is the first affordable new 6E router I’ve seen on Amazon. Setup is easy everything works fine. BUT If the WAN PORT was 2.5 gigabit then it would be AWESOME. Right now my speed is tapped out at 930Mbps on Spectrum Cable but IF the WAN PORT was 2.5 gigabit then I would be getting 1200+mbps download speeds. If TP-LINK comes out with a 6E router with a multi gig WAN port then I’ll use this router on as a MESH access point. So that’s what’s up. Great Router but Dallas short on the 1 Gigabit wan port. 6E spectrum is just like 5G strength but no one else is on it so there is no one on it so no outside interference and my Samsung S22 Ultra is the only device I have that can access it.
Have owned this router for a month, and it delivers strong signal throughout the house. Have a 3,400 square foot, 3 level house. Router is in 3rd floor master suite. Devices on first & second floor operate extremely well. We currently have no 6G devices, so can't speak to that. As always, B&H shipping is fast.
So far this router is much faster than my older TP-Link AC20. 6GHz is kinda over rated. Less range than 5GHz and only about 600mb to 700mb down. So far so good. My modest 2,100’ square foot house gets full coverage everywhere. If you need an upgrade it’s a great price point. Most devices will not see the 6GHz unless they specifically say that they support it. Thank you TP-Link for another awesome product!
Top notch Wifi 6E router that has a "routable VPN client." That sets this router apart from the competitors. You designate the devices you would like on the VPN otherwise they just use the normal ISP address. The router interface is simple, slick and fast responding. The wireless distance in AX mode is excellent and works across my entire house. I can't say enough on the overall quality of this router. If you additionally consider the lower price of this router it's a steal.
