Remember, it is not just an installation app but one that helps you manage and monitor your mesh network.I had a couple of hiccups on the install. One of these was recognizing the Wi-Fi on the Deco router on the initial try, even with a manual installation. And there were some other issues on the initial install where the app seemed to get lost. These were rectified by exiting the app and going back in. For some reason, the fingerprint log-in function would not work on my Android tablet. Other than these little glitches, the installation was smooth. I asked a person who wasn’t familiar with doing network installs to try setting up the system, and on a fresh install, the only problem they had was the app did not recognize the Deco router even when their phone was connected to it. After a restart, they were good to go. When adding an additional unit, there was some confusion about the instructions on the app. For the initial hookup of the second device, they were looking for the blue blinking light ( connecting) instead of the steady green light (all things functional), which wasn’t quite as straightforward as it could have been.The Unit is packed exceptionally well, and they are good-looking little towers. I can’t state it any better than this blurb from their website. “It delivers combined speeds of up to 11 Gbps on three bands through 6 steams, thanks to Wi-Fi 7 features such as MLO, 320 MHz channel, and 4K-QAM.1,4 Two 5 Gig ports and one USB 2.0 port allow maximum expandability.” I can’t detect that it uses AI to perform a seamless connection as you roam your home, but I could not detect when the roaming units switched to a different node. Each unit has 2.5 Gbps and two 5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports. The available ports with Backhauling allow you to connect both wired and wireless connections thanks to the Wi-Fi 7 MLO (Multi-Link Operation) technology. There was a minimal drop in internet speed, even in the downstream units. To make things easier to test, I initially hooked the master unit up to just a 1Gbps connection. With “SpeedTest” on the primary device, I could get 988 Mbps connections, and the connected units reported 899 Mbps. The downstream units only did slightly slower, but one has to consider a lot of things in this estimate without using some professional test equipment. Even though the Deco unit is by default set up to check for firmware and software updates ( and you can set it up when it downloads and applies these updates), I suggest doing a manual check at initial setup and following through a couple of days later. One came out within two days of my installation, greatly improving speed and eliminating all stutter.The mesh network units can be used as your complete network ( for up to 200 devices according to the specs), or you can use them to expand your network if that is what you need. The device is pretty smart at dealing with either setup, and the Deco app is easy to reconfigure and fine-tune. There is also Isolation, including a dedicated IoT Network, Wi-Fi Network control, Parental Controls, Guest Networks, WPA3, HomeShield, DoS, SPI Firewall, and QoS traffic Prioritization, and the system can work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. I am still looking into all the possibilities to configure things best for my use. Plus, you can monitor and change your system from anywhere with your phone, tablet, or computer with an emulator.Finally, there is a Wi-Fi 7 mesh system with backhauling that works and works well.

I cant tell you over the years how many routers I've been through, each one has had varying degrees of tenure in my household based on how feature rich they are and how they perform. There's no 'ok reset this, reset that' just trying to get the app to see everything and get it online, it's one of the few that I've run across that just 'works'. In the app you're also met with a number of different configuration options, from reserved IP addressing, parental controls, device naming, MAC address tracking, range and speed testing, etc. Each piece works as you would expect, you can granularly control individual devices being allowed on or off the network, or control when the network will get cut off to a device (useful if you have kids that wont go to bed or study) among many other things. Really it's a well thought out app with a plethora of configuration options. Of course it has the standard allowing of ports through the firewall and all of that, so no worries there.As far as performance is concerned, this is easily the fastest set I've run across. I've owned a few motherboards that are 2.5Gbps capable, but never had devices that supported it (even current-gen devices, this is not terribly common) but finally this one does. Not only does it support 2.5Gbps client connections, but if your house is wired for ethernet, they also support 2.5Gbps wired backhaul between satellites, which in a word, is a wonderful. There's few ISPs out there that can really utilize that to the home, but if you have any sort of in-house server or streaming devices (plex media server anyone?) then these will definitely not add any latency or performance concerns to that.Coverage is excellent, being a 3 piece mesh system there are zero dead spots in my 3400 sqft home, and I imagine this could cover a space quite a lot larger than that. I unfortunately do not own any WiFi7 capable devices yet, but clearly I'm future-proofed against that with this system, and I intend to upgrade the WIFI card in my laptop as soon as I'm able.All in all this is a wonderful mesh system, coverage is superb, performance is amazing, and it's well worth the cost. I would easily recommend this to anyone in the market for a high-end WIFI7 capable mesh system.

Well packed, fairly heavy, a testimony to TP-Link’s solid build quality. They are quite big and round, about twice the circumference and height of a couple of soda cans - see pics. That’s perfectly fine with me as they each include 4x 2.5 Gb Ethernet ports and one USB 3 port that transforms this router into a powerful NAS just by adding a USB hard drive. Moreover each unit packs a serious punch with a Quad-core CPU and 6 high powered internal antennas that guarantee the multi-band 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz signals penetrate through walls and other obstacles.The setup is as simple as they come, just plug it in, download, install and run the Deco App for Android or iOS. It will automatically detect your WAN connection type, prompt you to create your Wi-Fi SSID. I ended up using the same Wi-Fi name and passphrase as my old router so I wouldn’t have to reconfigure nearly 40 devices on my new network, just make sure to power off your old router before you cause Wi-Fi conflict.The Deco App is very well developed, intuitive, feature rich and offers tons of information such as daily usage and security reports, etc. There are also additional advanced security and parental control features that you can subscribe to at reasonable monthly/yearly rates - see attached screenshots.The initial setup of the first unit took about 10 minutes, followed by the firmware update that took less than a minute and can be set to auto update. I then proceeded to add the 2nd and 3rd nodes which were nearly fully automated. I ended up letting the units connect to each-other via WiFi, but I plan to also do some testing with them interconnected over wired Ethernet.I ran most of the speed tests from multiple wired Windows 10 and 11 PC and a Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra Android phone that supports Wi-Fi 6e. The range coverage and signal strength is unbelievably good. With my gigabit fiber ISP, I max out at around 940 Mbps. Up until now, that was only achievable with the wired systems. With this TP-Link Deco Wi-Fi 7 Mesh system I could not believe my eyes when I got Wii-Fi downloads/uploads in the low 900 Mbps just as well, pretty much anywhere in the house and still very over 500 Mbps Wi-Fi speeds outside the house in the driveway and backyard.In conclusion this is the best router and fastest Wi-Fi mesh system I’ve ever used and I would highly recommend it.

Of course it has the standard allowing of ports through the firewall and all of that, so no worries there.As far as performance is concerned, this is easily the fastest set I've run across. I've owned a few motherboards that are 2.5Gbps capable, but never had devices that supported it (even current-gen devices, this is not terribly common) but finally this one does. Not only does it support 2.5Gbps client connections, but if your house is wired for ethernet, they also support 2.5Gbps wired backhaul between satellites, which in a word, is a wonderful. There's few ISPs out there that can really utilize that to the home, but if you have any sort of in-house server or streaming devices (plex media server anyone?) then these will definitely not add any latency or performance concerns to that.Coverage is excellent, being a 3 piece mesh system there are zero dead spots in my 3400 sqft home, and I imagine this could cover a space quite a lot larger than that. I unfortunately do not own any WiFi7 capable devices yet, but clearly I'm future-proofed against that with this system, and I intend to upgrade the WIFI card in my laptop as soon as I'm able.All in all this is a wonderful mesh system, coverage is superb, performance is amazing, and it's well worth the cost. I would easily recommend this to anyone in the market for a high-end WIFI7 capable mesh system.

Well packed, fairly heavy, a testimony to TP-Link’s solid build quality. They are quite big and round, about twice the circumference and height of a couple of soda cans - see pics. That’s perfectly fine with me as they each include 4x 2.5 Gb Ethernet ports and one USB 3 port that transforms this router into a powerful NAS just by adding a USB hard drive. Moreover each unit packs a serious punch with a Quad-core CPU and 6 high powered internal antennas that guarantee the multi-band 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz signals penetrate through walls and other obstacles.The setup is as simple as they come, just plug it in, download, install and run the Deco App for Android or iOS. It will automatically detect your WAN connection type, prompt you to create your Wi-Fi SSID. I also use the ethernet ports on the Deco to provide hard wired connections to an Apple TV in one room and an Nvidia Shield and Xbox Series X in another. I prefer my gaming and streaming setups to be hard wired when possible. My experience at this point was meh... no discernable improvement from my previous setup, since my hardwired devices topped out at 1Gbps.Where I was impressed was with the wireless capabilities, which is where this unit shines for me. I have about 40 devices on the network, ranging from IOT devices, laptops, streaming devices, phones, etc. Testing with an iPhone 13, which I believe is a Wi-fi 6e capable, I was able to get download speeds of about 918 mbps and upload speeds around 800 mbps... nearly a 50% increase for me over what I was able to get on speedtest in the Deco app with my old setup. In this case, I was about 15 feet away from the unit and had clear line of site, so for me was a real-world use case that is best case probably in my setup.When I tested with my Asus Zenbook 14 laptop which also has Wi-Fi 6E from my office, which is either through 4 walls or an entire floor away from one of the Deco's, I was still able to achieve 600-800 Mbps download speeds consistently, which was still about a 30% improvement. Videoconferencing in MS Teams and Zoom calls were flawless during my testing.With Wi-Fi 7 features like MLO you can achieve speeds up to 11Gbps, and that's where my biggest caveat is with this unit. I don't yet have client devices that can take advantage of this. None of my IOT devices support Wi-Fi 7, nor does my newest laptop from March 2024. And with my Fios speeds topping out at 1Gbps... it might be a while before I can upgrade in my area to a multi-gig setup.Overall, I'm thrilled that the wireless is stable, faster at longer distances, and features like 6Ghz bands, wireless backhaul, wired backhaul, etc. all make this an extremely reliable and feature packed unit. But I also recognize that I didn't have a coverage problem before.The TP-Link BE11000 is a great Wi-Fi 7 system, and is well designed like other TP-Link deco units to make placing them aesthetically easy to do. And if you are coming from an older Deco, like I did, upgrading your network is simple and straightforward.

After things were set up, the app automatically downloaded the firmware updates to each of the units. The whole thing was just following the app directions. Of course, the hard part is moving all of your wireless devises from an existing network to the new Deco network. I guess I didn't realize how many wireless devices I have in my home until I started reconnecting. At least the Deco BE 11000 allows for up to 200 devices, so there should be plenty of available spots for people like me that have a lot of wireless devices. I have used this setup for several days and so far, have not had any issues with connectivity or slow internet speeds. I have been totally happy with this system so far. If you need better coverage and faster wireless speed, I think this is a really good option to consider.

Typically when a wireless network detect another network it’ll use different channels to avoid any interference between both networks. They also offer a built-in Network Optimization feature within the app that will allow you to manually scan and automatically fix frequency and channel issues for you.The overall results….were better by decent amount. I went to the 4 corners of my lot (about ¼ acre), and compared internet speeds between both networks. I noticed around a 40-70% increase in internet speeds. There are still many options I have yet to attempt to use within the Deco app to adjust for setting improvements. I did use the MLO feature to use multiple frequencies at once with a device, but I’m not sure if my phone is compatible with it, but seems to be a great feature. There’s also a feature that dedicates the 6GHz frequency to be used for the access point communication only (aka your wifi nodes), basically disabling MLO and devices being able to use it, but if your mesh node locations are right, could definitely provide much higher throughput.Switching between my old mesh network and new one was really simple, just use the same SSID and password as before and all your home devices should be able to connect automatically. The Deco app lets you set notifications when new devices join the network to confirm they are switching over. It is also able to detect some Smart Devices on my network and have them categorized within the app. There is a nice list of options to really customize your network, especially if you are more advanced than the average user in network setup. So the app is built well in my opinion.Additional features include Block listing clients or allowing only certain clients to connect to your network, network isolation allowing sensitive devices not being able to be accessed from your main network, create a Camera Mode options for your home cameras, and allows you limited access to Parental Controls and other Security options without the premium subscription. The list of features goes on, but so far I’m really enjoying the TP Link Wifi 7 Mesh network. Oh, and once you do the main setup on the first Deco node/access point, all you do is power up the others and they automatically sync to one another….very easy. This Wifi 7 system is also a better price point at others I’ve seen recently released, so I think it holds a lot more value. And with the new Wifi 7 technology and the added 2.5 & 5Gbps compatibility, this system will hopefully future proof your network for many years. I’m currently on Gigabit speeds but now I’m looking to upgrade for higher network speeds as I do a lot of data transfers within my home network. I do highly recommend this system.

Backhaul between units can be wired or wireless, or a mix of the two. Setup is easy and frustration free and as is standard these days requires the use of the Deco app to get things up and running. Since I was already using a Deco system, it made things even easier allowing me to connect the new one directly to the old primary unit and transfer all network settings and primary functions to it. I then added the other two via the app and unplugged the old ones although I could have kept them online and had a mix of the two at the same time if I had chosen to. As a result, everything in my home was immediately connected to the new system without any headache whatsoever. I ran speed tests and checked connectivity on several devices including my iPhone 14 pro max and noted massive improvements to range, speed, and latency across the board. As the week since setup has passed, the misbehavior from many of my smart home devices with connectivity issues and lag has all been corrected and everything I was having trouble with is now working flawlessly.I struggled for years to find a Wi-Fi system that could handle all my devices and give me the speed and reliability I desired. Finally, the time has come and this TP-Link Deco BE16000 router does all that for me and more. If I wanted, I could spend a lot of time customizing and prioritizing devices, setting parental controls, adding guest network, and more as all are supported features but thankfully, I don’t have to I can just let it do the hard work for me. All my old smart home issues are resolved, and I can rely on my new router to keep things working as they should be and that is a big deal for me. I am futureproofed for additional tech in the years to come, and I highly recommend this router if you like me just want it to work with no fuss.

Putting this to one side, setup was quick and easy. The additional bases easily connected to the mesh network themselves after being plugged in. It wasn’t until I was finally able to review the settings via the app that I found an option for access point mode. This allows the Deco to be added to an existing network via cable and used as additional hardware to extend the existing WiFi network. Oops. That would have saved some time. Ultimately, I’m glad I just bit the bullet and replaced the old hardware because the Deco has a lot of useful features, some of which future-proof it so I won’t have to worry about replacing this hardware for a long time. IPv6 is available, but turned off by default. Understandable, considering we haven’t gotten this successfully implemented. The router provides a separate Internet of Things network, so that you can connect all those smart devices separately and not look at the main network map and wonder at what all the random devices are. I like this because, security wise, should someone hack a smart device, they shouldn’t be able to access the computers if they are on a separate network. There are a lot of other awesome features that I could go on about, but let me quickly touch on some of the more useful ones. I haven’t set these up yet, but look forward to using them: Parental controls. It’s great that you can add clients to this section and limit network access times. Device Isolation: great if you have a client that might be at higher risk for outside attacks. Camera security: I love that you can add cameras to the internal network so that you can monitor them, but remove them from outside connection to avoid hacking snoopers. There are many more and I haven’t been able to review them all, but between the beefiness of the hardware itself and its features, I could see this system running our WiFi for a very long time coming.

I'm very happy with the way this wireless backhaul handles the materials in my home, when a signal killer floor between my basement and ground level main area causes problems, I can just tell it to use the other satellite for its signal instead of the router, or leave it on Auto for it to figure it out on its own. I'm very happy with this three pack, and when a single unit is available, I'll get one to extend to my garage/workshop area. I recommend this for fiber speed service 1gig up/down and above.
