Performance wasn't as good as I had hoped. With the extender we were still getting slow speeds at one end of our (not very large) house. It felt like the stability of the connection was potentially better, but there was still lag and slowness. I would look to a more reliable and expensive system if I was to make the choice again. Setup wasn't completely straightforward, but you only have to do that once.

A good value product from a leading manufacturer. A little fiddly to set up via the Tethering App, but it does seem that the Mesh WiFi offered with the RE300 is likely to only work with a TP-link OneMesh router. Otherwise it function fine as a simple range extender with it's own SSID.

I’ve been dealing with WiFi extenders almost as long as there has been WiFi. The one mesh system and the Tether app have made this by far the easiest setup I’ve ever dealt with. I preciously purchased the Archer A7 Router. Found that that when sitting on our deck, the signal was weak or non-existent. I went to the TP-Link web site, found out about one-mesh, purchased the R300 and within 10 minutes my one-mesh system was setup. I’m now on my deck writing this review and it will be off for your reading within seconds because of the fast connection. I, for one, am sold on TP Link and the one-mesh system.

I purchased this item to enable WiFi to be extended out to the garden and it now works very well. It means that the security camera now stays online and I can use my iPad outside to search the internet. It took a little while to set up but that was probably because Im not very tech savvy! Im very pleased with my purchase which arrived promptly, was well packaged and much cheaper than Ive seen anywhere else.
This is a really good extender provided you have a Tplink mesh aware router. It works best this way. The mesh system is really good. It solves one of the oldest pains with extenders. You will probably need more than one so a bulk price would be good.
Pros: Very Marginal increase in signal strengthCons: Very difficult to programme (required a smart phone and an app). Tried is in several different places but the improvement in signal was very small.
I was having daily network blips during Zoom calls for work. Since I have to use a VPN this just doesn't work, as the VPN has to reestablish a connection every time the network drops out. I set up my range extender at the top of my stairs (my router is in the lower level of my split-level home) and I haven't noticed any issues since. For those who will care, note that it's not a "true" mesh system, because of implementation details I'm too lazy to bother memorizing. But it does a pretty good job of faking it, at least in my home. The router and range extender each cover one level, about 1k square feet each. I haven't noticed my phone having less than full WiFi bars everywhere in the house. Now that my upper level is covered, I can even get reliable WiFi on my back ... MoreI was having daily network blips during Zoom calls for work. The router and range extender each cover one level, about 1k square feet each. I haven't noticed my phone having less than full WiFi bars everywhere in the house. Now that my upper level is covered, I can even get reliable WiFi on my back porch, too! I work from home as a software engineer, so I'm constantly online, and in Zoom calls every other hour. I also have 3 kids doing virtual school right now, so they're also on video calls basically all day. Add to that 2 smartphones, a smart TV, and a PS4 - all of this on WiFi because my built-in-the-50s house has absolutely no way of allowing me to connect anything via ethernet. Between my Archer C7 and my RE300, everything has full-strength WiFi signal everywhere in the house, and more than enough bandwidth for everything we do. This is easily the best purchase I've made to accommodate for virtual life (except maybe my new desk chair).
The range on these units is pretty good.. They only need a weak signal to work well But the signal it gives out is a little less than I thought it would be. Overall a good value product. You do have to connect to the units though as they have a separate WiFi address to your Internet.. but the same password! They need setting up but it worked first time for me.
I bought this product because my WFH setup is on a different floor than the Wi-Fi router and my video calls were consistently dropping. The range extender is plugged in between the office and the router and now I have significantly fewer dropped video calls. I was disappointed about one aspect: in order to set up this device on the TP-Link app, you *must* create an account with TP-Link. I personally don't see the need for this, but maybe this is how all range extenders work these days? Admittedly I did not try setting up through the web on a laptop to see if I would be required to create an account.
Very quality product from TP-Link to get wifi at weak spots in your home. Replaced our 5 year old Netgear WiFi extender. Our netgear extender was so obsolete that there was no app available to manage it but it had served us well over the years and decided it was time to upgrade it as the signal was becoming choppy and it couldnt handle the number of devices when having company over. It was super easy to install and they were right! I followed the instructions included but had already read previous reviews with tips and tricks. I just plugged it in next to the router, let it do its thing and downloaded the app which is super simple to use and navigate. Typed in my password to connect to the network and off I went! I originally put it where the old one was, out in the pool house but via the app, it told me that the signal was weak and to relocate it and so I moved it inside, closest to the pool area, ran my signal test and viola! Insta-WiFi! Had it all done and all my devices connected in five minutes. I really like the fact the app tells me how many devices are connected to it.
