My partner is disabled and so I've been looking for a way to get all our downstairs lamps to go on and off easily if I'm not there. These Tapo TP105 sockets are ideal. They connect really quickly to the WiFi using a slick little Tapo app. Sockets can easily be grouped so that one tap will turn everything on and off easily thru the Tapo App. I've also added these to my GoogleHome app which in theory means I can use voice control but to be honest I've found both the Tapo and Google Home apps just as easy to turn on and off with

I've never used a Smartplug before having used plug-in timers which have to be set using tiny plastic inserts to set on/off times for lamps when I'm out of the house. This plug allows any device with a 3 pin plug to be turned on and off from the app on a smartphone. You can also set schedules. If you're disabled or bed bound you can use the app to switch things on and off without having to physically move to the socket or device itself. This plug is currently a Which best buy! There is another version (110), more expensive and allows you to monitor energy use. I think both devices allow you to use things like Alexa for voice commands but I've not tested this (not necessary for me). I like these so much that I've bought several more! A life changer!

but here's another. These plugs, and I confess to having a few, make a real difference. Because they operate off of which ever device you have you never have to worry about clocks forward/clocks back, or like yesterday, when we had a general power cut, twice, the timer plugs would ALL have to have been changed & updated. These plugs can also work on, Sunrise/Sunset times, I have a few that come on at different times before Sunset. That allows the house to gradually switch between the two. They can of course be overridden and ALL turned on manually if you have nasty downpours etc that blacken the sky. These are literally plug & forget. A real boon for people like me not able to bend as I used to but also anyone who wants life a bit easier. When on offer that are ... Morebut here's another. Generally not a fan of having 'smart tech' in my home, but wanted to add some security features for peace of mind, and this seemed the way to go. Bought a couple of these plugs so my lamps could go on/off at different times, especially when I am away. They were well reviewed, competitively priced, unobtrusive & easy to install. Up and running in a few minutes. Have 'Leave Home/Arrive Home' options, so can override settings on all synced appliances easily, if necessary. Nothing to improve on.
