Very easy to set up. Has useful programmable features and a phone app is available to give a direct link to the router. We use 4G for home internet because cable broadband is unreliable here. Used an external aerial on the old Huawei mi-fi but this TP-Link router doesn't seem to need one. The wired ports give faster speeds than the wi-fi for nearby computers. It can also be used as a cable broadband router which switches automatically to 4G if the cable fails.CCL's delivery was quicker than promised.

We run sports tournaments in various locations around the country, and need a small network of 3 or 4 computers, with a cellular uplink just for pushing live results out to a web site, so not a lot of data. After originally messing around with bridging networks, cell phones, etc, we now bought this TP-link router with Sim card slot and it worked perfectly first time. Easy to set up, does exactly what we want. We had everything set up and working within half an hour of purchasing the router. I can't think of any "cons" with the product, the only hassle we had was registering the SIM card to enable us to manage the cell account. This requires the cellular provider to send a txt to the SIM card, which is obviously a minor hassle when the card is in a modem not a phone. ... MoreWe run sports tournaments in various locations around the country, and need a small network of 3 or 4 computers, with a cellular uplink just for pushing live results out to a web site, so not a lot of data. Have used this for internet access at coastal property on Kapiti coast.CCTV and alarm ip monitoring running.Very simple to use for not so technical user.Only needed to install Sim Card and power up, couple of minutes later internet available via wifi or lan ports dhcp. There's plenty of the usual options if you wish to delve deeper into the device programming but its about as simple as it gets.Only installed for several days at this stage but in my experience these devices usually provide reasonable service life if installed in cool dry locations. On 2degrees network

If you live out in the sticks and only have low speed wired broadband options available to the house (like I did) this may be the perfect solution. Wired broadband is expensive, it can be substandard, and more importantly it can tie you into a 12, 18 or 24 month contract. I have used a pocket 3G Mi-Fi hub for a few years and it has served my needs well. Now the time has come to work from home and my little 3G hub wasnt fast enough and didnt offer the connectivity I now require. This 4G router has it all. I now get 4G wireless broadband out of thin air which can be shared wirelessly around the house or by Ethernet cable. Worked straight out of the box. Simple to set up and has performed brilliantly. As this is unlocked, like a mobile phone, I can stick whatever SIM ... MoreIf you live out in the sticks and only have low speed wired broadband options available to the house (like I did) this may be the perfect solution. I now get 4G wireless broadband out of thin air which can be shared wirelessly around the house or by Ethernet cable. Worked straight out of the box. Simple to set up and has performed brilliantly. As this is unlocked, like a mobile phone, I can stick whatever SIM card I like into it and share 4G internet around the house. I went with Vodafone unlimited 4G on a 30 day contract SIM which suited my needs. This is now a faster internet connection than I had down the BT telephone wire direct from BT 6 years ago. Perfect! Thanks TP-Link for creating an excellent, reliable, secure, easy to use 4G home router. If you are in a situation like me, choose one of these, then subscribe to a data SIM that gives you the strongest 4G signal in your home. It wont disappoint.
I've had this for a few weeks now and tried it on two different networks. It was easy to set up after activating the SIM online but the signal strength and reliability on the first network was disappointing - despite being in a good signal area on their coverage map. So I ordered a SIM from a different network with much better results. Upload speed is important for me and I'm seeing uploads of 20Mb/s at quiet times although only about 12Mb/s at peak times. I've had the very occasional wait for pages to load but usually pages load quickly and videos have been fine. I like the idea that I can take it anywhere with coverage an have my own fast internet connection.
Appears well made, and easy to set up. Its WiFi coverage within a single storey 2 bed building is good, and although I have not specifically measured data bandwidth, I have no trouble streaming HD video on a sim enabled mobile connection.
Really easy to set up. Unpack, put a sim in and switch on, locate on your device(s) enter the password (found on back of router) and you are connected in seconds. Now have a download speed of 52Mb/s from local EE mast instead of 1.5Mb/s from my copper land line. Can get sim only deals now from 10 for 30Gb data download.(Plusnet which use EE mast) More than enough for me.
A great solution to getting Internet at a remote location. Excellent reception (on par or better than my phone - with Salt). It is very easy to set up. Just insert the SIM card (nano size) and start up. If needed, enter the PIN code, and it's online. It has Wifi and four Ethernet ports to share the connection. It has all the features you'd expect from a mid-range router, including basic network configuration, port forwarding, DMZ, DDNS, usage monitoring and thresholds (with an SMS alert).
Pros: Great price. Faster than broad band. Cheaper than broadband. Easy to set up. Bye bye Bt, your high prices and poor rural services.Cons: None.
Very straight forward to install and setup. Simple user interface giving option to customise the connectivity to suit any application. Not forgetting the Lan ports for wired connections All in all it is a great alternative to a broadband solution Don't forget this can be used on an inverter in a mobile home, car or pretty much anywhere you get power to it. Recommend a GiffGaff unlimited sim. Great wireless coverage and speeds very much like broadband. I have been watching Netflix in a room some meters away without a glitch.
