Excellent device. Tracking, alerting and mapping functions as expected. Which is fantastic. I have the XL model for increased battery life. The light and sound feature really only work if you have a pile of tractive devices and you are determining which one is which. You will hear or see them if it is attached to the animal. Possibly if you have animal in library. Great product though, I assume later version will expand on this feature and it no influences me away from this very useful device that has located my pup countless times.

So far the tracker is working really good. We tested it when I was at work and my husband took our dog to the park. It notified me right away she was out of the fence area. It also tracked her through the thick wooded area. It was off by 2 streets over than what they were really on when he was heading back home in the truck. But, so far it is working.

This is only for large dogs, batterylife gives around 3 weeks use before needing to recharge and is the only option if you want to have this on your dog for long periods of continous use. We are strong believers in letting our dog run around freely at our property, our dogs have always been taught to open doors themselves etc, so they can go in and out as they wish. However having an extrovert high energy dog that can take off on short forest trips on his own (where hes taught its safe since theres no roads there) seeing him gone several hundred meters away can be worrying, so we get a "ping" on the app when hes outside of the virtual "fence", and can open our phone and see where he is. Device attachment is flimsy and the service is scammy.

I think that the way you handle renewals is scammy. With a two year window, it seems reasonable that you would give your customers a heads up reminder that their contract was about to renew, by not doing that you are taking advantage of people and cheating them out of money.I don't even have the device any longer because the way it attaches to the dog collar is flimsy and easily breaks off, so here I am, forced to pay over $200 for a cheap product that I no longer have because I didn't notice that it was renewing and the device itself easily breaks.Your business practices are an obvious scam!

GARBAGE

I found these thing to be total garbage. I broke 2 giving baths to my dogs. Not waterproof at all and no customer support. Try and find an actual phone number for this sham company, bet you can't because they don't stand behind their product. Get it wet and the power button rusts shut and then they want you to buy a new one and wont refund your subscription even though they can see the traker is offline... Garbage!

Old Technology. Not accurate.

The GPS technology on this model is completely outdated, slow, inaccurate.2G is extremely old technology & has not been available in Australia for years.LTE is too slow. It needs to update more frequently. eg I spot my dog & by the time I get close to where Tractive claims he is, he’s moved on.For such a large bulky unit I am surprised how quickly the battery runs low with today’s battery technology.If the dog goes missing or is stolen, the battery will be exhausted within a day or two while using Live Tracking.I have since read the company is about to release a superseded model using 4HG/5G.Best wait for that?When using the Walk feature on the app, it records the phone movements, NOT the Tractive device movements. What a peace of mind with my dog

We have had Angus now for over 6 months and love him to bits. Wife worry’s that he will run off as we not trained him recall yet( more to do with the weather.So I did a bit of research and decided to get him a gps live tracker, it was on special for $79 from Jb hifi.Angus being 30 kg at 9 months I went for the bigger one.TRACTIVE DOG XL GPS TRACKERYes you have to pay for a subscription and I also took out the care plan by the manufacturer, for 2 years $288.I am so impressed with it that I thought I would put it in here for other people who are thinking about it.AirTags work off Bluetooth and are pretty crap for an awol dog.The set up was so user friendly, and picked up the device straight away.Virtual fence is great and you get an alert when the tracker ... MoreWe have had Angus now for over 6 months and love him to bits.
