Fiskars is a brand that I have trusted to work well -- or superbly -- for years. This has some goof-proof safety features, always handy when the neighbor's dog comes by with a surprise hello delivered via cold nose. A customer may choose to buy this in-store to make sure that the movement action is compatible with one's hand size. I have relatively small hands which are a compatible size. Those people who have long hands might do better with a comparable pair that is slightly larger. The personal "fit" works best when the full-scissorlike open action is close to one's open thumb-to-index finger distance.

Fiskars' tools are consistently of excellent quality. Winter is here yet I know that I can easily and comfortably use and depend on this for years (with regular basic maintenance). Persons with small hands may have slight awkwardness in closing/cutting, although strengthening of the hand muscles may overcome this. The wide open "relaxed" grip may be slightly big/wide spread -- kind of like someone "yawning" might have trouble biting into an apple. There is some padding on the handles, which make it fun to use. It is difficult to scratch/cut the hand that holds the tool, although the opposite hand might risk a cut if one does not keep a close watch on one's work.

I would buy it again but I'm sure it will out last me.

This is a good quality product, made for your heavier yard plant/bush/tree trim/pruning assignments. I'd buy it again. Fair price, fast delivery. I purchased this Pruner Anvil Power Lever with the Bypass Pruner as a set and I am pleased with both. The #sweepstakes opportunity did not bias my opinion.

NOT AS SHARP AS THEY CLAIM
8 May 2020

I purchased this pruner at the Lowe's store today and immediately came home to try it out. I needed to clear out the dead portion of junipers in my backyard and found this particular pruner failed to be sharp enough to cut dead branches that are 1/8" thick. All it would do was bend the branch where the blade was supposed to cut it and I had to bend the branch back and forth to get the pruner to cut the branch. I would definitely not recommend this pruner to anyone that is trying to cut dead branches over 1/8" thick.

Ok, not great

These pruners work fine initially. The problem is that after a short while the spring comes loose, the few bolts come loose and it doesn't cut well. Tightening everything doesn't seem to be a solution. The blades dull quite quickly as well.I would say these are good for short term use. Just don't plan on these lasting too long.

Poor Performance for an Anvil Pruner
13 July 2020

I purchased anvil pruners because the bypass pruners I have had in the past fail to completely cut the larger branches. I also bought two pair so I could keep them in two places. I am disappointed in these anvil pruners. The top cutting edge is offset from the center of the anvil when they came out of the box. These make a clean cut 50% of the time. The other 50% you have to try again with a different p[art of the cutter. I will try another brand and see if they work any better.

Poorly designed
28 September 2022

I purchased this to replace a very similar craftsman tool. The crftsman lasted 45 years before the spring broke, It still cuts just fine. The new fiskars version dulled before I could finish trimming 4 medium bushes. It also binds and does not cut all the way through. The craftsman has a notch in the anvil so the blade passes through the branch. the fiskars anvil requires extra strength to get all the way through a branch

Warning to Buyers ! ! !
24 June 2014

These Fiskars pruners have a reputation of NOT cutting straight, the blade hits the anvil off center and does a REAL POOR job of cutting Anything ! I've bought and returned FOUR of them for that reason. You can't tell by looking in the plastic packaging if they're poor cutters but Trust Me, a HIGH majority of them are off center as all get out ! ! ! Try Corona or Gilmour brand instead.Real disappointing units from a name like FISKARS ! ! ! The remainder of the pruner is of Very good quality but quality control let TOO many get by with this Problem !! !! !!

good clipper
10 April 2021

I like all of Fiskar products they generally work very well. These clippers were purchased to replace my very old pair. These work well, seem to be designed a little different but still good. Much sharper than my old. The lock mechanism isn't as easy to use as the switch on my old pair. All and all this was a good purchase.
