I just bought my first Traeger Tailgater. Cooked a whole chicken on day one and it came out good but not great. Legs and wings were perfect, rest of the chicken undercooked. Next day tried again. Same basic results even after increasing time. Their thermometer is "all over" the place. After reading the reviews here, there's as many VERY VERY disappointed customers as happy ones. So either you get lucky and get a good one or you get the low end of the production line. For this kind of price, they need to get their act MUCH BETTER together. One UNHAPPY customer will cost them FIVE new sales. That Traeger name can go down in a blaze of glory REAL FAST once the word gets out there. Seems you either LOVE them or you HATE them. Got this grill delivered and assembled. The first two times I used it the temperature was fluctuating by more than 100*. I've been working with Traeger customer service and the first time they sent me a part which took 2 weeks to get in and didn't work. Next they sent me another part which took a week to get in and it's still fluctuating 25*. For a brand new grill that isn't working properly I would like to trade it for a new one since I've already had to take the grill apart 3 times which I know it's not made for. Ace is making it difficult to work with also. This is ridiculous and I haven't been able to use the grill in a month. And no one seems to be helping it's only a few months old.

I am no grill master pro which is exactly why I love this Traeger. It is so super easy to use, even a novice can make fantastic, tasty meals with it. This is where I land. The Traeger heats evenly though it does take quite some time to come up to temperature. The aroma of everything on this grill is so phenomenal that the neighbors come over to see what's for dinner at my house. I've been able to perfectly grill fish, steaks, chicken and ribs like I've been doing this all of my life. I would highly recommend. For sure, get yourself a Traeger cover too.

Great little smoker simplistic use
6 August 2022

I’ve owned my Traeger now almost year. Only issue my fault should have purchased the larger model. This unit other than size has done me well. It was my step from side firebox smoking, which I still use. The east of this smoker and set/forget taking most of the management out of the cooking great. Sure it doesn’t have all the whistles and bells, but serves my purpose and entry to pellet smoking. I’m a week I use this for just about anything and will smoke everyday if I could. Quality of unit is good yet only draw back the cheaper stainless used for pellet fire box, heat plate, and drip pan only issue I’ve had. Quality of unit is good yet only draw back the cheaper stainless used for pellet fire box, heat plate, and drip pan only issue I’ve had. Six months of use I researched replace all with a higher end heavier gauge that does not warp and retains heat and better heat transfer. This unit has maintained my temps well and provides a good cook with smoke. I do use a smoke tube for enhanced smoke flavor when needed. I have use in cold in southern state down to 30 with an optimal blanket for it I recommend. With a cord element protector for the extension connection used in very heavy rain. The unit performed well. You can’t stop smoking a 8-12 hour cut protein just due to weather. Construction is solid have had no issues as I do keep covered when not in use. I hd one issue auger hung loading fire pit box. I had walked in as it came to temp. Looked back out window dang a smoke filled yard couldn’t see smoker. Opened lid removed everything to see firebox next I know two foot flames shooting out the unit. Did get it under control cleaning fire pit out. Restated and have no issues since. Just make sure you clean regularly chamber for build up and at least every other smoke the firebox of ash.

Grill shuts off automatically for no reason.
18 September 2022

I have had the pro 22 for a little over one year now. I have had consistent problems with the grill overheating and turning off. I have discussed this with customer service and gone though all the troubleshooting techniques they provided. Further, I clean the grill after each use and I still run into this problem. There is no way a $700 (when I bought it) grill should perform so poorly after such a short time of owning it. Very unsatisfied with this product.

Lack of attention to detail causing MOUSE issues.
16 October 2021

I bought this back in June and have had nothing but problems since day one. Mice have been attacking my grill constantly. I am not the only one that is having this issue and no solution can be found. I have been able to use my grill 3 times since JUNE! every time I go to use it I have rodents in the firebox. I have tried to keep the pellet hopper full and empty no change. I have added Mesh to the drip access and to the top of the smoke chimney still the same result. Come to find out where the fan attaches is open with no mesh or any type of protective covering to stop this from happening. I am so grossed out by this its difficult to even consider cooking on this grill. I would not have expected the lack of attention to detail on this and wish I could return my grill ... MoreI bought this back in June and have had nothing but problems since day one. The times I have used the grill the food has been average and the results have not been what I would have expected. People say you get what you pay for but when you spend A LOT OF MONEY I am sure you would expect some quality for your purchase. Also I DO NOT live in the woods and have never had any rodent issues like this before.

Poor design = stained patio
15 September 2022

What idiot designed the tiny grease bucket hook? That bucket has fallen off at least 5 times staining my concrete patio because it is so small and useless especially when using a Traeger brand rain cover. The process to handle a flame out is stupid and non intuitive. I had a nice little explosion the first time and then learned you have to unplug, remove the food, remove the gray, remove the drip pan, remove the heat shield, clean out the fire pot and reverse all those steps and there is no alarm telling you there is a flame out so you have no idea how long the heat has been off ruining your cook. Competitors just have a latch you can pull on the bottom to empty the fire pot

Reliable, simple. Just keep clean.
14 September 2022

I've had mine for 3 of years now. It's been reliable, and the only time it didn't fire right up, all I did was give the barrel and firepot a quick once over with the shop vac, and we were back in business.Love the simplicity. Food tastes great.Only complaint is when I've tried to max temp, I've had fire! 2 times.I have a propane grill ( Weber Genesis) for sear and use that instead to reverse sear or pre sear chicken so the skin isn't rubbery. If I was to replace it I would look at other mfg. to compare. Maybe ReqTeq as their boasting 700* top tempsBut the pro22 has been very functional for my wife and I. We enjoy it

I waited quite awhile since purchase to write this review. Previously I had been cooking on another brand of pellet grill and I also own a BGE. I love cooking on my Traeger because of how easy it is, the time needed to get it ready and cook, and the product it produces. My wife is not a fan of over smoky food and the BGE cooks more smoke flavor into her food than she cares for. I CAN achieve that flavor with my Traeger as well by using the lower smoke settings but for everyday use I crank it up and get the food done fairly quickly and my wife loves it! Enough said. If you are on the fence about the Traeger I highly recommend you jump down from that fence and get cooking....you can thank me later!

Who New Pellets Were This Tasty
8 October 2022

I had never used or even heard of pellet grills till I visited my Brother and he has a Traeger Pro32-What can I say-I liked it and my old grill needed about $115 worth of parts so instead I purchased a Traeger Pro22-My Brother has now accused me of trying to wear the grill out-I have nothing but praise for the Traeger and indeed have used it almost every other day-From pizza on a stone to potatoes and roast in a cast iron pan and fried chicken also-Easy to use just plug in- flip switch and turn to smoke-ready mostly in 15 minutes-as quick to heat as my gas grill was-Love it-
