I upgraded my MAC Book Pro Retina from 256GB stock drive to the 960GB JetDrive. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the process was. The upgrade kit included all the necessary tools as well as a USB 3 external case for the old drive... The included instructions were minimal, however, Transcend has an outstanding Youtube video that made the process a breeze. They show you how to clone the drive using the drive utility built into OSX. It took 15 minutes to clone the contents of my almost full 256GB drive to the the new Transcend drive, and then no moro than 15 minutes to open the MAC and swap the drives. On reboot the MAC came up as though nothing had happened... Everything was there and working, including Windows running in Parallels... And better still, I now ... MoreI upgraded my MAC Book Pro Retina from 256GB stock drive to the 960GB JetDrive. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the process was. First off, I did not replace the internal SSD with this, I use it for external storage. Got it to replace an HDD that I used with my MacBook Pro Retina for external data storage (300 GB photos, 250 GB video, 200 GB other). My only complaint is that I waited too long to get it. Crazy speed compared to the HDD, it's like I have a new machine. Exporting a 25 MB Raw to TIFF is practically immediate and Photoshop opens the image from cold-start as if it were already running in the background. I was always waiting a few seconds with the HDD. The small size allowed me to use the wife's scrapbooking 'glue dots' and adhere the drive to the back of the laptop screen. No more disconnecting the drive for travel. If you want great speed in a small package, get it!

I brought this product to upgrade the storage of my MacBook Pro 2.7ghz Retina from 500GB to 1 Tera. The instructions were simple and I did the upgrade in all of 20 minutes. I now have tons of space for Video editing in FCPX or Adobe Premiere. I also have a 500GB SSD drive using the supplied enclosure.
It's not cheap, but I needed it for my work and so far so good. Installation was very easy. The videos on YouTube are crystal clear. I finally have plenty of internal drive space and an extra external 250Gig SSD.
Great easy way to upgrade your MacBook drive. Just remember to de encrypt your data first... Easy to install....
Paid for new drive but was disappointing in receiving what turned out to be an open box or a return from B & H. The drive was already formatted Mac OS Extended, I reformatted; after the install disk utility shows the disk has been re-formatted 3 times so definitly not brand new. To far though the install to turn back so carried on. Instructions are not good the booklet and Transcends Web site are not for my Late 2012 MBPR 13 the SSD is located under the mouse pad not in the position shown. Google for instructions, iFixit's were easy to follow, disconnecting the battery was hardest part, suggest you get a plastic guitar pick or something nonmetallic to pry the SSD connector of the motherboard its pretty tight. Fairly straightforward to complete the upgrade, now have ... MorePaid for new drive but was disappointing in receiving what turned out to be an open box or a return from B & H. This is a great internal SSD upgrade choice. Have not done speed tests with it yet, but it has not been a bottleneck for video editing. Much less expensive than getting a larger SSD from Apple originally.
Highly recomended for memory upgrade for mac. It comes with tools for installation which makes it easier to use. Provides you memory plus extra memory because you can actually use the old card with the enclosed case. 4 stars for the price and poor support.
