I have mid length, wavy hair and Coltrane has been a pleasant surprise. Enough hold, easy to rearrange through the day and a very natural look. Product is quite hard and seems like it will be tough to spread but it actually adheres to the hair. I normally use the Ponsoby pomade, but will always have a Coltrane too.

I love the Fibre Royale and the pomade (though its a little too shiney for my taste), so I decided to try the clay. I typically don't like clays because they are very hard to wash out and require shampooing often if you are using daily. So I wasn't really expecting to like this clay. Some reviews say its hard to wash out but I didn't experience that at all, quite the opposite actually. It rinsed out easy with water. There may be some product left behind but my hair is overall soft and healthy after just washing it out with water. It provides a firm, yet flexible hold and is VERY easy to scoop out and apply. Swells the hair. If it falls out of place, like wind, a little finger styling puts it back in place. There's something that just feels right about Coltrane clay. It provides the right amount of hold for short hair without looking like you're wearing product, feels natural in the hand (not sticky like other brands), and washes out easily. Plus it lasts for ages. I'll admit I occasionally break and buy a cheaper more easily available supermarket version, but within a few days I'm looking for the Coltrane.
Really good product. The spray is great and can be used after of before applying the clay. It helps to add nice texture to look of your hair. The clay is also really good, not too thick and gluggy. Super easy to apply. A++ to triumph and the team.
Coltrane Clay is as good as it gets, and I've tried a lot of clays and Pomades. It has the perfect amount of hold to keep your hair in line all day long, without bogging down your hair. A little goes a long way, which at the price point it sits only makes it a better value. I use a bit of Coltrane after applying a couple sptritzes of the T&D Hair Tonic, and they work perfectly together to create textured and all day workable style.
I'm not a review writer. I almost never do it. But this stuff...worth the time. I have thick hair that kinda has a mind of its own. I've spent literally years trying to find the right product to tame it to no avail. Until Coltrane Clay. It's the perfect, effortless product. Completely matte finish, applies in seconds, you can run your fingers through it all day and it stays effective and workable, and it doesn't build up. Magic in a can. Hands down the single best hair product I've ever purchased.
My hair is THICK…I spent a lot of time and money searching for products over the years that would hold my hairstyle in place and nothing worked. But then I found the Coltrane Clay! Not only does it hold your hairstyle in place for hours but it gives you a nice natural look (no shine).I hear a lot of reviews complaining how the wax dries out too quickly, this is true. But if you put it in a ziplock bag it will last you months without drying out. Easy fix.
I love this stuff --- a keeper. Its clay. It smells like clay and acts like clay. Its freaking clay. But it can really makes long hair look cool. I have pretty long wavy hair. Without hair product, it looks insane --- not in a cool way, just clown-like. With the wrong hair product, it looks heavy and greasy and lifeless. But, this stuff is great! Its clay so my hair can be reshaped throughout the day but its not heavy and very wearable. I strongly recommend it for thick course hair that wants to do its own thing. I would have preferred if it had a nice aromatic smell, but who cares. My girlfriend doesn't even spend all day smelling my hair. Its a nice neutral odor so is perfectly acceptable. i'd been using another brand of clay for a few years now. it's been "fine" or "good enough". i've tried Coltrane Clay for two days now, and i'm never going back to "just OK". this clay is amazing! great hold, great scent, and it makes my hair look better than it's looked in years! i'll be a forever customer of Coltrane Clay!!
