After our Vet told us that our 6 yr old cat gas tarter on his teeth and we should consider a cleaning. I asked what it would cost and I was told $2000. I knew that the new thinking is a promotion on brushing our pets teeth. I asked if there was anything else I could do when I set up my auto ship with Chewy. That was when I was told about fresh breath Dental Health liquid water additive. This is our first bottle and we haven’t had any adverse response from our cats. We will probably order the larger size and add it to our auto ship every month.

I think some of these reviews are skewed. First, I wouldn't give this to an older cat as they are already set in their preferences and won't drink anything than what they are used to. Second, the product does foam but only with significant water pressure. I use a bowl that circulates the water and it doesn't foam. The only time I get foam is if I put the product in prior to filling the bowl with fresh water using my faucet. Third, the cats throwing up seems odd. I have 4 cats, one with a sensitive stomach and none have thrown up from the product. One time I even accidentally got the dog version and still no GI problems. I have a senior cat with CKD (chronic kidney disease), who not only needs to drink more, but at almost 17 years old, her teeth have some build up. The vet erred on the side of caution against any sedation and dental cleaning, as that's much riskier to her health. She also said she would probably struggle chewing CET treats, and that brushing at this point in her life would let loose bacteria and could make things worse, not to mention stress her out greatly. It’s helped a lot with their breathe and dental hygiene. While it doesn’t replace brushing their teeth, my cats won’t let me do so, this is the next best thing! I thought this might be a good solution. I realized after putting this in her water for 3 days that she wasn't drinking any water (the other cats were). She followed me into the shower and opened her mouth in the stream, which she has never done That's when I realized she wasn't drinking the water. Had I not put two and two together and addressed the issue immediately, she would have ended up in the ICU or worse. I gave her a fresh bowl of water. She sat in front of it and drank for the better part of an hour. It took several days of constant monitoring and syringe feeding to get her back to good health. ... I’m hoping this will work, there is an issue with how it is packaged vs how the instructions read. The user is dupposed to use a half capful in 8 oz of water , but the cap is not marked, and has a tip open spout, that makes a half challenging to judge. Alternatively you are instructed to use 5 mils, but I’d be surprised if one person in 10 has something that measures mils in volume. Manufacturer could easily make the product more functional.
I have been using this for both my indoor cats, and the ferals I'm taking care of outside. I'm not able to brush even the indoor cat's teeth, and forget it with the feral cats, who some won't even come near me. This is an additive you put in their water (follow directions for the amount to use). Both the large bottle, and the small squirt bottle that is the same product but condensed, seem to work. Although I can't open their mouth to see their teeth, the feral cats look good. When I've brought my indor cats to the vet, there is never a problem mentioned with their teeth.
Started my cat on half the amount of the recommended dose for this product and he began vomiting the next day. The vomiting continued for 2 days. I discontinued use, dumped the water bowl and cleaned it out, vomiting stopped. I thought that maybe it was just bad timing of starting this water additive. Gave him 4 days then tried it again. Instantly, the vomiting began again. I will not be putting my cat back on this product. I wish I could return the bottle of Tropiclean and get my money back.
