Great for all types of riding

Love these. I got another pair a couple years later and I just rotate them in the washer between rides. The first pair is sun faded, but zippers and all that still work great, no major tears in fabric.I used to wear regular shorts that would bunch up my nuts on long technical climbs and mess up my mind flow. Now I won’t ride without these unless it’s to the store. The liner is still good as well. The cut and mix of elastic in the fabric really makes a difference when your on the saddle.Left zip pocket fits a iPhone 10sMax with an otter box cover. Right hip pocket fits my wallet.I will buy these again for sure.

Light and comfy

Like how it uses a lightweight material. No belt required, but has 2x side velcro adjustable straps to adjust tension at the waist. Also digging the velcro fly and snap closure -- makes it easy to uhhh relieve yourself on the side of the trail, lol. There's also a removable liner inside for those longer rides. I bought this on sale, for almost 40% off, and while I really like the shorts, I still would have a hard time justifying paying full price for it. My only gripe is that the subdued camo pattern is actually more green in person than in the website pic. I wish it was more of a greyish green so it wouldn't clash with everything else I own, but other than that, no real complaints.

Loved them till the crotch caught and ripped on my seat during a routine dismount

I loved these until they failed after only one year of riding. Yeah, they have a great fit and look and are functional. However, I ripped an 8 inch tear in my crotch area (ouch) today from simply sliding backward off my saddle. I guess the material grabbed the nose of my saddle as I slid back. This was not a dramatic ejection -- I just stalled out on a climb. Should not have been a big deal. I think this coarse woven material on the front is the culprit -- to much friction against even the synthetic cover on my high-end WTB saddle. FYI: My other pair of Troy Lee's has a similar (not identical) material front and rear and it also has a tear on the back. Most of my shorts last 5+ years, easy.

No more online TLD order for me.
29 August 2022

This item was my second TLD purchase online. Both sizing were totally off. This one, short/w liner ordered size were 34. Short size received was fine but liner must be size 28. Call customer service twice, left voice messages. After a week, no call back from TLD.

Okay, I am legit impressed with these shorts
29 June 2022

I had reservations about such a breathable short, but TLD really got this one right. not only are these the perfect shorts for riding in the sauna that are the forested trails in the southeast, but the sizing is spot on (surprisingly), and I get lots of questions about them. When wearing a liner underneath; you cannot see anything untoward.

Outstanding Shorts - Excellent Value
13 January 2020

These shorts are extremely well made and offer great ventilation, an immensely beneficial feature considering the hot and humid South Florida climate. Additionally, the liner is very well made, has comfortable padding and offers good ventilation as well. Was going to continue to use the liner I have, however when compared the two, it was obvious the liner included with the shorts would offer better ventilation. I used the shorts and liner during a race on January 5th and then on a 6 hour, 55 mile endurance ride on January 11th. The padding was very comfortable as were the shorts. Highly recommend.

TLD Shorts
18 February 2020

Nice Troy Lee Design bike shorts. Picture for black shorts was with black 'Troy Lee Designs' lettering and peace sign on other leg. Mine was white lettering and peace sign. Prefer the stealth black on black, and was a big reason for purchasing here, but the shorts are very good and at an equally good price. Material is lightweight so won't overheat. Shipping was very fast. Sizing: I have a pair of old TLD shorts from a few years ago. I always get size 32 in other shorts, but needed a 34 for the TLDs. Expected small sizing again so ordered 34, but I think they adjusted their sizing and the 34 was on the larger size for me. So, sizing should be what you'd expect with the other major brands.

These newer generation Skyline vs. older
18 October 2018

Have had many shorts over the years. I bought these new Skyline shorts because the last pair I had lasted a few years and were the best short I have owned. The new pair I bought a couple of months ago is the WORST short I have ever owned. For the size, the short is almost too big, even with the annoying Velcro waist band adjusters(more on that) pulled all the way tight. The inner padded short on the other hand is way too small, I cannot even use them. Also, although I rarely put change in my pocket, the few times I have somehow the coins get behind the mesh liner and into and area where I cannot get them out, so annoying that I have cut the pockets out completely, now I can't carry anything in them, this has happened at least 2-3 times. very well built but sizing still off
4 April 2019

My favorite shorts for the last four years. Nice features, ventilated, durable, adjustable, etc...However, the sizing is still off. Before I was size 36 on every clothing and TLD was 34. Then I lost weight and moved a size down getting a 2018 ruckus size 32 (normal pants now 34), which fit perfectly.Called TLD customer service to discuss sizing on the 2019 model which she claimed TLD has fixed the one-size up issue. Unfortunately it was still one size up and I had to return it - hence the 2 stars for the not so accurate information and the need to return.I haven't ordered a 2019 size 32 yet and not sure I am going to do with TLD as it missed the timing when I needed as I had to return. what shorts should be
25 June 2022

This is closer to what most over-shorts should be for riding in general. Unless you're riding in sub 60 degree weather more ventilation and less weight are ideal. The pockets are sewn to the shorts which is brilliant...there's no pockets flap loose inside your pants. They are see through in the front but most people have liners underneath so who cares. I ride to ride, not stand at the trailhead. They are also nice and long...great for those with longer legs! I sized up but think I'll buy a pair my normal size once I drop a few pounds.
