In-ground Worm Farm that turns your scraps to soil. The Worm Buffet is Tumbleweed's NEW in-ground worm farm for raised garden beds. It is the easy, low maintenance solution for recycling organic waste at home, to turn your food scraps into soil to nourish surrounding plants. Worms move in and out through the holes in the unit to digest kitchen scraps and deposit rich castings into the surrounding soil. In-ground worm farms are easy-care and do not require castings to be harvested. Instead, the worms work in a sustainable system of delivering the castings directly into the surrounding soil. This not only fertilizes your plants but it helps to build soil health and keep the soil aerated. For this reason, the Worm Buffet is fantastic in a raised vegetable bed, to nourish and feed your home-grown veggies for a really tasty, lush crop. Once established, the Worm Buffet will process 1-2kg of kitchen scraps every week. For families that produce more organic waste, Tumbleweed recommends installing multiple Worm Buffet units, as a scaled recycling solution. Worm Buffet's can be installed 1.5 m apart for scaled solutions.

I had wanted a worm farm/compost for a long time but with a small yard space is limited, so a ‘standard’ one was not an option. After a lot of too and fro over a couple of years I came across this worm buffet and instantly purchased it. I put it in the garden where there are the least amount of worms & soil isn’t so great.Moving on to 4 weeks later ... We love it! Almost no waste goes into our garbage bin now and there are so many worms in that garden bed too. I didn’t purchase extra worms but did get the compost starter block and the worm blanket and conditioner. This is awesome, great size, no smells, easy to install, worms eat the waste = happy garden. We want to purchase another one for our veg garden. Very impressed.

This in-ground worm farm is a good size for composting my kitchen fruit and vegie scraps, with minimal effort. I like that it's enriching the surrounding garden and the worms I added from another compost bin, seem to have quickly multiplied and are happily munching through the scraps. Downside - it seems to attract/create a lot of small flying insects.

I think this is awesome for a budget friendly home who also want to reduce their food waste. I put this one next to my lemon + lime tree as my lemon tree is a bit dull. It's still early days but going great, I added in the bedding and shredded cardboard on the bottom, then put my scraps in as well. Super easy to put together, and install into the ground.

Good Australian Made product. A beaut simple, convenient and well designed product - We have been using Tumbleweed for a year or two - the rats cannot get into this beaut design. We purchased on line via Bunnings - it was delivered in a couple of days - great service.
Love this thing! I got this along with a 500 worm pack Dr worms about a month ago. I planted this at one end of my raised bed and just yesterday I was planting out seedlings at the other end and found big worms! They had tripled in size and sending so many nutrients back into my plants. About once a week I feed my worms food scraps and they love it.
Excellent product. I have 4 distributed across the garden. Kitchen waste, vacuum cleaner dirt, hairbrush hair all seems to disappear magically. I only bought ‘starter’ worms the first time, garden worms found the others by themselves. You can buy worms to increase the speed of ‘digestion’ when you know you’ve got extra waste coming (eg guests staying, preserving session, big cook up). The worms take the food with them into the surrounding garden through the holes. You can really see the plants near the composter love the extra nutrients! Some things take ages to break down and are better chopped up or crushed (ie egg shells). Make sure there’s a mix of dry & wet stuff in each load to help it along, so not just chock full of say orange skins. Overall a great ... MoreExcellent product. No faff about turning the compost or protecting worms from heat/cold like the above ground worm farms. Genius!
Just put the worm farm in my stand alone garden. I love the thought of the little critters making my vegie waste into beautiful fertiliser for my garden and all I have to do is feed them.i have had composting worms for 30 years in stand alone farms and I have always wanted to put them in the ground. Now I have. I love my tumbled in ground farm and still have my other farms love my worms.
A great easy way to have worms process Vege scraps in your garden. No need to empty buffet once full just remove and place elsewhere in the garden.Basic design that works well. Recommend.
Compared to a standalone compost/wormfarm, looks nice. I'm happy having it in a garden bed near the kitchen doors that is very visible from the living areas. Most houses will need more than one, they only handle about half what the other designs do.I am still waiting for worms to establish, but I pretty close to full after 3 weeks for 3 people.Ordering a second one now.
love this product. I own a worm bin from tumble weed too but this is much better than the worm bin as I don't have to worry about harvesting the castings. My salad bed has grown so well during the winter. Before this, I didn't have much success growing large salad leaves. I have bought one more and put it in the vegetable garden bed.
