Bought two pairs and both didn’t last!Buyer Beware

They are a cheaper headset. I’ve bought two pairs of these and had them for about 4-6 months each. The problem I found with them is that the mic always goes bad in them. The sound quality is good but, I’ll never buy these again because I’ve now had two of them and they both did the same thing. If you’re willing to keep dropping 25 dollars on these every time they mess up go ahead. Your best bet is to stay away from these and get you a more expensive set that doesn’t have fragile connecting wires. Get a heavy duty set!

I will admit, these headphones are cheap. They feel cheap. That's a given for $25. However, if you are spending $25 on a whole @$$ gaming headset, you should expect them to sound cheap and to perform cheap...right? Not these. The sound isn't extremely loud, but it is crisp and directional. No it's not fancy surround sound, nor is it fancy bass boost anything. But what they are is functioning headphones perfect for a backup set or if you just want something cheap to get you by.I just got an Xbox again and wanted a simple, cheap headset. And these are perfect!

Excellent, especially for its price

Turtle Beach's Recon 50 headset is an amazing purchase for its price. I bought my new one to replace an old pair of the same kind that lasted for nearly 2 years under heavy wear. The audio quality of the headphones is great, and the microphone isn't bad either. I spent my first 6 months or so of making videos with the detachable mic, and although the quality of the recording doesn't compare to a dedicated mic, it's still more than satisfactory for most gaming needs. If you're using it for voice chat and suchnot, you should be set. If you're starting out on YouTube like I was, this headset is an excellent purchase. My first pair lasted for just shy of two years before finally starting to die, and that was with some pretty heavy usage. My only caution here is easily remedied. What finally killed my first pair was numerous incidents where the cord got caught under my chair. If you use the splitter, like I do, you're left with a very long cord that gets caught up in things if you're not careful, and eventually that did damage the cord on my first pair. To stop this from happening with my new pair, I just looped the cord a few times and tied it in place, effectively making it shorter.I would definitely recommend this headset to amateurs and pros alike-- it's a sturdy, high-quality piece of equipment that can stand up to heavy wear and tear (and will likely last even longer if you take steps to protect it further). It's suitable for online gaming and YouTube, and the microphone will give a decent recording quality.Just be a little bit careful with the on-board microphone mute. The switch is affixed to the headphones cord, and if you tend to gesture while talking it IS possible to accidentally switch it off. That only ever happened to me once, though, and it's easy to avoid if you're careful.10/10, would definitely recommend.

For the price it’s a great backup headset.

Purchased this as a back up to my stealth 700. Is OK as far as sound. Kinda washed out or tiny. But instantly on because it’s plugged in to controller. My stealth 700 never connects without moving a volume dial up n down. The quality is the same as any other TB headset. The fit is smaller ear cups/tighter to head.Service / customer support on any turtle beach is fair. The headset ear cushions on any TB HEADSET don’t last and they charge you 20.00 for a replacement set. That’s why a purchase this 50x model. It was cheaper than the ear cups on the 700 unit.

Garbage headset with a cable shaped like a noose
1 January 2021

It's a good headset if your goal is to accidentally suffocate yourself. There are two wires coming from both the left and right ear, and they connect right underneath your chin to form a single cable. This makes it extremely uncomfortable because there's barely any room to fit your head without these wires constantly touching your chin/neck while you're playing, and you look like a f*cking jack-ass. The earcuffs of the headset feel extremely stiff and awkward to wear. Next, I tested the speaker quality and it was horrible. Voices sound extremely deep, quiet, and low-pitched. Keep in mind, I bought this just because my previous headset, that I used for 5-6 years, was on the cusp of dying, with the cable ripped and one of the sides being completely nonfunctional... ... MoreIt's a good headset if your goal is to accidentally suffocate yourself. THAT headset sounds better than this one. Obvious this is a cheap headset so I'm not expecting anything studio-grade here, but I at least want my humans beings to sound like human beings, not having the audio super-distorted. This is a BAD headset, both in terms of actually wearing the thing AND using it. Avoid at all costs. There are other generic headsets they sell at bestbuy for the same price and they are MUCH better.

Great for the price for sure. I bought this a while back. After years of abuse, the cable is messed up near the jack so the right speaker is unreliable. The comfort of these is good, but the material around the ears isn't as breathable as a mesh. It's comfort comes from the flexibility of the top and it's light weight. I never had issues with the inline controls, they're convenient. The sound is definitely adequate - no tin, well-balanced, reliable. One con is that I think the mic picks up the sound of the A/C; but the mic is also good at smoothing out harsh sounds like from the "s" and "ch" sounds (thanks to the foam covering the mic). Pass, get the next step up from these

So this is my third headset in a few months. I keot buying expensive ones, and my kids kept breaking them. So i bought these cheapos, unknowing that my kids got their own headsets finally. Great. There are way better headphones out there, but if you have kids who like to break them, these will get the job done. They just wont blow your mind. The dual wires (one to each ear piece) is annoying. They get a bit uncomfortable, i usually only have one ear piece in use, the other sits on the side of my head. If you like to hear the game AND communicate to other players, you better have the hearing of a german sheperd. If you dont, pick one or the other. The boom plugs in via mini jack, and its oriented. I tried to plug it in, didnt go, so i gave it some force, still didnt ... MoreSo this is my third headset in a few months. I keot buying expensive ones, and my kids kept breaking them. I dont think id even buy these as a "back up" headset. Too many cons, and the only pro (you can hear stuff) doesnt do it well.

REVERSED SOUND ISSUE
16 February 2023

I have been playing with these for 3 years and I thought they where good. I've never played games with headphones before and wearing these made it more intimate. BUT Ive only just found out this week when I bought new ones, that this whole time the sound was reversed. So if there was a shot on the left I would hear it on the right. I never noticed and just thought I was terrible at gaming. But since I got new ones with no issues I play a lot better. I don't know if the reverse sound was a problem with this headset or the settings on my PC but from my research it's the headset that's the problem. So if you buy them just hope they have connected your wires the right way round and not like they did with mine.

You get what you pay for (except for Razer)
30 May 2022

Low build quality. Very flimsy. For the price you aren't going to find much better. Go with something more expensive. And for the love of all things beautiful, don't buy anything from Razer, they're not quality. You're paying for the name and that's about it. Go with a Logitech or a Corsair or HyperX or SteelSeries. Even a more expensive Turtle Beach headset would be fine.
