Great Xbox/PC wireless headset.

I also tried it on Xbox Series S. On any Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X, you just plug the receiver into a USB port and turn them on, they should link up and ready to go. The battery life is very good. I charged it up on unboxing and put over 13 hours on it, both using it and setting it down to go do other tasks. It has a described battery life of 24 hours, that should get you through many gaming sessions before a recharge. The boom mic annouces with beeps and boops that it is active or inactive depending on where it is on its travel down to mouth level. It can only swivel a little when it is fully deployed. The transceiver will also flash red when the mic is muted, a helpful reminder if its in your line of sight. The sound on these is pretty good, using the EQ presets, you can hear the differences between Signature Sound, which is the default, Bass Boost, Bass plus Treble Boost, and Vocal Boost. I mostly used it on Signature Sound and it worked well. You have pretty good control of voice chat level and game sound. You also hear yourself through the mic in the headset speakers. This can help some people moderate their speaking volume when gaming with others. It has a feature called Superhuman Hearing, which is activated with a quick press of the power button. I couldn't tell much difference with this on versus off, but I generally do not play many first-person competitive shooting games, so it might make more of a difference there. I played Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 4 mostly, and the music and car engines sounded great on the speakers in these. I was also easily heard and understood by my convoy mates. The phones has a band of material that is supposed to make it easier on those wearing glasses, which I don't wear all the time, but when wearing reading glasses or blue filter glasses, it still felt a little tight. That brings me to my only negative on this headset and that is fit. Even when adjusted about as well as I can get, they are still kinda tight with some pressure on my head. I have an average size adult male head for reference. Most gaming head sets I can wear for a couple hours max before I have to take a break with them due to my large sensitive stick out from my head ears, and these I can only wear them for about an hour and a half max. These plastic band headsets can loosen up over time, so there is that to look at when they are more broke in. All in all I would recommend these if you are looking for very long lasting battery wise headset for Xbox use or Windows PC.

Similar to the gen 1 version you will find that you still have some of the features needed to give you a step up with your gaming such as the super human feature setting. The headset is a pretty basic set up which allows you to game wirelessly for up to 24 hours before needing a charge. The headset can be paired with both the Xbox or PC and while i have not tried it with a ps4 or ps5 i honestly see no reason as to why it would not work with those consoles. When connected to a PC you can download the free app which allows for a couple features. Through the app you can update the firmware and currently right now you can only adjust mic monitor levels and tone levels. There are no gate or equalizer balance adjustment but that can all be changed with future updates possibly. The headset comes with a flip up/down mic mute feature which is very ascetically pleasing. When you wish to mute the mic simply flip it up and the mic blends perfectly with the side of the ear cup. One side of the mic offers tow volume dials, one for game volume and one for mic volume allowing you to get the desired balance between in game audio and voice chat audio. Simply pressing the power button after the mic has been turned on will allow for the superhuman feature to be turned on. For those not familiar with this feature what this does is amplify alot of your background noises which is usually drowned out. For example you are able to hear footsteps and reloading alot more clearly and from which direction it is coming from which allows you to prepare for oncoming enemies in games such as Pubg and Cod. This does come at a sacrifice to audio quality as it compress everything however if your trying to get the upper hand in a combat style pvp game then that shouldn't matter too much. One thing i want to note which stood out right away was the comfort level. The frame design is a hard plastic design with cushion earcups. The frame and cushions were very rigid out of the box and this headset does require a decent amount of break in time. The first few uses were very uncomfortable however after about 24 hours of use i have finally started to feel as if they are breaking in and becoming comfortable to wear for longer periods of gaming. Audio quality is pretty decent however at this price point don't expect it to blow you away. There is on 360 or Saptial audio so if your the kind of person that is looking for the immersion factor when gaming you may want to pass on this however audio quality is not horrible just nothing special. All in all that's pretty much it in the way of features. This is a basic headset the gets the job done and does it all without leaving you broke. The audio quality is sure to please most people however for those people that are audiophiles you may want to pass on this set up as it may leave you wanting more.

This model appears to be a one-step upgrade from the previous model that was released in September 2020. This version of the headset has some subtle differences including: the inclusion of DTS Headphone: X an increased battery life (to 24 hours) only being compatible with the Xbox console increased sensitivity (99.95 decibels adjusted) a mute function the amplified audio functionality (Refined ear cup acoustics and expertly tuned 50mm speakers are powerfully driven to give you accurate, immersive audio) The setup of the headset was super easy. You just plug the USB receiver into a USB-A port on your Xbox (we used the one on the front) and the headset automatically connects to it. The Xbox automatically switches over to using the headset as the output audio source. Out of the box, this headset did have a charge to it, but it’s always a good practice to charge headphones before using them - especially for longer periods of time. My fiancĂ© fired up RDR2 and played for a while as she got used to the headphones. At first she only had the standard stereo sound mode enabled, which she said was clear and very easy to hear sounds in the environment. She quickly kicked on the Superhuman Hearing sound setting and she said it was a total game changer (no pun intended). She has played through RDR2 twice now and she is just taking advantage of free play in story mode. There were sounds she said she had never heard before using that sound mode. One of the things she really likes about the sound quality is how enveloped she felt with the enhanced sound from the headphones. As far as noise isolation goes, the ear cups enclosed her ears completely and even without the sound on, she was able to drown out some of the ambient sound in the room. She said once she started playing the game she couldn’t hear anything around her. This actually bothered her a little because she thought I might sneak up on her while she was playing and she wouldn’t be able to hear me. That said, it really helped her enjoy the game even more than usual. The headphones were plenty loud. My fiancĂ© loved how she could control the sound directly on the side of the headphones. It was very easy to turn the dial up and down to adjust the volume. She really liked that it was an analog dial instead of a button or a touch-sensitive control. As far as comfort goes, the headset is lightweight and easy to wear with glasses. The box actually states that they are ‘glasses-friendly.’ My fiancĂ© said that her ears were comfortable and didn’t get hot or sweaty, but the longer she played the more she noticed that the top of her head was hurting right where the headband was resting. If she moved it around a little she was able to shift the discomfort for a little while, but it eventually came back. She said she started noticing it after about 90 minutes of gameplay. She also said it wasn’t a deal-breaker for her but it was noticeable enough to cause her to stop playing after that long so that the ache didn’t get worse. Aside from the actual headset’s functionality and use, there was only one issue my fiancĂ© had with these headphones - the instructions. After reading some of the instruction booklet and noticing that the parts didn’t match and after attempting to update the firmware via her MacBook Air (the Turtle Beach Audio Hub is available for Windows and Mac), we discovered that the instructions included were for the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max headphones and not the Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB Wireless Amplified Gaming Headset, which is the model she has. This is something that should be alleviated as soon as possible because the two different models have different hardware options and different setup methods. The front of the literature packet says to upgrade the firmware before using the headphones, but if you visit turtlebeach, the Audio Hub page says, “...Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB for Xbox headsets are ready to go! No firmware update is needed. MacOS compatibility for these models coming soon.” We didn’t see this bit of information until after we had attempted to connect the headset to the hub a few different ways (using different USB cables, different ports, etc.). When the headset didn’t connect, we went back to the Turtle Beach website and found this information. As you can imagine, the incorrect instruction packet made the setup process frustrating. The only reason that my fiancĂ© got the headset connected is because she plugged the USB receiver into the Xbox just to see what would happen if she did it. It was a last ditch effort after she had been messing with the Audio Hub/firmware issue for a while. If the correct instructions had been included, this headset would have gotten a higher review. They sound great and they work really well with the Xbox.

It was a last ditch effort after she had been messing with the Audio Hub/firmware issue for a while. If the correct instructions had been included, this headset would have gotten a higher review. They sound great and they work really well with the Xbox.

Great wireless gaming headset
22 April 2022

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One is another great headset in the long list of headsets released by Turtle Beach over the years. This is my first time using a truly wireless gaming headset for Xbox and I was initially a little concerned about how well these would perform and whether or not there would be any noticeable lag which can be a real killer when playing games that require attention to small details such as footsteps. All of the other Xbox headsets I have used had to be wired directly to the controller but after receiving and testing out this wireless gaming headset, I can’t see myself going back to the old wired headsets because this one really works great! All of the other Xbox headsets I have used had to be wired directly to the controller but after receiving and testing out this wireless gaming headset, I can’t see myself going back to the old wired headsets because this one really works great! There was no noticeable lag and to make things even better, they come with a setting called “Superhuman Hearing” which does exactly what the name implies: it amplifies certain types of sounds like footsteps which makes a huge difference while playing first-person shooter games. The other thing I really like about this headset is the ability to independently control the game and chat volumes. It is important to find the right balance between the two which Turtle Beach has made very east to do. Since this is a wireless headset, it requires charging via a USB-C cable and the product description says the battery provides “24+ hours of gaming per charge”. I haven’t quite reached 24 hours of playtime yet but so far, it seems like the battery is going to live up to this description. As for comfort, I was intrigued by the product description of “Glasses Friendly” because I have a pair of blue light filtering glasses I like to wear while gaming to make things a little easier on my eyes. My glasses are a bit on the thicker side and although I still feel a bit of pressure on my ears when wearing them with this headset, I can honestly say it feels better than other headsets I have used in the past. Overall, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One is a great gaming headset and I highly recommend it!

NOT worth getting

Take note that my review is being based ONLY on PC connection. I do NOT have an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch, so I have no way of testing the headset on any of these other products. That should also tell you something else – even though my review is appearing under the Xbox-only product listing, it is NOT for the Xbox-only product (there was an error in the shipping of what I was supposed to receive, to which I initially received the Xbox-only version, after which the correct version was shipped
but, my review is still finding its way under the Xbox-only version). If you’re looking to use the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen2 MAX on any of those devices, I’d recommend skipping my review, and reading reviews from those who tested on those devices. but, my review is still finding its way under the Xbox-only version). If you’re looking to use the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen2 MAX on any of those devices, I’d recommend skipping my review, and reading reviews from those who tested on those devices. Additionally, I’ll be honest
I’ve never been impressed with Turtle Beach products, and for several reasons
but, since it’s been many years since I owned any Turtle Beach products, I figured I’d give them another shot, and see if they’ve improved. UNBOXING, AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: For the unboxing side, I’ll say Turtle Beach has improved. Gone is the excessive amount of Styrofoam & plastic. While the headset is in s plastic sleeve (of a very minimal amount of plastic), that is the only plastic to be found. The headset is in recycled cardboard protection, and all included paperwork is found placed inside of a paperboard “box-like” container. Unfortunately, in regards to “initial impressions”, that’s the end of the ‘good’. Upon removing the headset from the plastic sleeve, I discovered that Turtle Beach is still producing cheap-looking products. Yes, it’s lightweight (which is a ‘good’ thing)
but, it feels cheap
SUPER cheap. The plastic feels low-quality, and the headset feels as if it will “fall apart” sooner, rather than later. I am NOT saying that it *will* fall apart
only that it *feels* like it might. SETUP: For a PC, setup doesn’t get any easier – make sure the USB-XBOX switch on the dongle is in the ‘USB’ position, plug the dongle into any available USB-A port, and turn the headset on (the headset & dongle are paired at the factory). That’s it. While there is a ‘Mode’ button (between the ‘Power’ button & mic volume dial), it is only for use with Xbox, so I have no clue what it actually does. If I were to make an assumption (knowing the Xbox supports surround sound, and knowing the headset does offer (simulated) surround sound), I would assume that the ‘Mode’ button has something to do with the (simulated) surround sound ability. COMFORT & EASE OF OPERATION: As lightweight as the Stealth 600 Gen2 is, it would be safe to assume it’s comfortable...and, it is. In fact, it’s very comfortable. I’ve been wearing it the entire time I’m typing this (I added this sentence after typing all the rest of this review), and I have no complaints. Yes, it feels a little “tight” squeezing from the sides, but a gaming headset is designed as such, so as to help “seal out” outside noise. If fact, it keeps outside noise out so well, even when turned off, I couldn’t hear the TV on in the living room. In other words, if you wanted to use these just to keep outside “noise” out, they will work quite well for that. SOUND QUALITY: Here’s where the real love-hate comes into play. Overall, the sound quality is quite good
not ‘great’, but not just ‘ok’. The midrange & highs are fairly clear (about what one would expect for this price range
and, maybe, even slightly better). Unfortunately, the base is the problem
and, a BIG problem. The base isn’t just artificially increased
it’s increased enough to the point that some people (myself, included) could end up with headaches. If you’re using these on something (such as a PC) that allows you to control the base (be it an EQ, or separate base-level control), I would HIGHLY recommend turning the base down. If you don’t
well
don’t say I didn’t warn you. FINAL VERDICT: Overall, I’m NOT impressed
and, I can NOT recommend these. Even though the headset is lightweight, the build & material quality is “ok” at best. Even though the ‘mids’ & ‘highs’ sound quite good, the (extremely?) excessive bass is problematic enough to the point that I can barely listen to music for more than 10 minutes before I start getting a headache. I realize these are primarily for gaming, and not for music
but, if I’m getting a headache from listening to music (which doesn’t even have heavy bass), then what does that say about the base in games with a lot of low-frequency sounds? I think I’ve said al that needs to be said. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

These are my second pair of Turtle beach headphones and I have had a good experience in general, it seems to me that little by little they are improving the quality of both audio and design. The unboxing is simple and everything is in sight ready to connect and start using, in the box are included the wireless headphones, the USB cable to charge them and the adapter in addition to the documentation and the quick guide which by the way is very clear and very helpful. The connection is quite simple, you only need to connect the bluetooth adapter to the usb port of the Xbox. There are steps to follow to configure the headphones from the console. These steps are in the quick guide. I recommend using this configuration to get the best out of these headphones. The audio is very good and depending on the needs of each one you can choose one of the presets as well as activate the Superhuman Hearing option which boost highs and mids to get the most clear detailed sound, if you are in the competitive scene or it is important for you to hear the minimum noise in the game may be useful, being able to monitor your voice seems to me an extra that is appreciated. The microphone works correctly and clearly, I have no complaints but it does not exceed my expectations, however it fully meets its function, with the Flip-to-Mute function it is very simple and practical to mute the microphone. The headphones are light but not that light, you have to remember that the fact that they are wireless makes them a little heavier, however for periods of 2 to 3 hours I have not felt any discomfort, the ear cups foam is very soft and fits very well to my head, I do not use glasses but these headphones can be used with some on. In summary, it seems to me that making an investment to have mobility, battery that lasts more than 24hrs, different audio presets, voice monitoring, Superhuman Hearing, an easy to mute microphone and best of all designed exclusively for Xbox is well worth it, if you want to give a plus to your console and gameplay I can definitely recommend these bluetooth headphones.

Sound Quality is Great-I Love and Hate them

Overall Turtle Beach has been a name I’ve known for their superior audio headsets ever since becoming a “real’ gamer. I mean, I’ve been gaming for most of my life, since my earliest memories as a child with the NES console. Yeah, Atari wasn’t really in the cards during my childhood so
Anyway, since then up until the early Xbox days, I was merely a casual gamer. Shortly afterwards however, I was introduced to Turtle Beach. These headsets live on to continue Turtle Beach’s legacy of quality products. They come with plenty of features for mostly any gamer and a quality mic, can’t say I had trouble being heard by anyone. These headsets live on to continue Turtle Beach’s legacy of quality products. They come with plenty of features for mostly any gamer and a quality mic, can’t say I had trouble being heard by anyone. The plastic molding might be a bit lacking however. Construction This is one part I’m a little skeptical of. When compared to the budget models from 2020-2021, or more specifically RECON 600 Gen 2 or this exact model from an earlier release. These flail by comparison as the plastic molded material forming the structure of the headphones feels more generic, almost hollow. However, the cushion material along the headband and ear cups seems well made like all other models I’ve held before. Features While I love the features these are packed with, from mic monitoring, which allows you to hear yourself, to their superhuman hearing. I do dislike that they continue to refer to some of their features by names they coined with previous models even if they’ve altered the function. For example, the ProSpecs feature has been coined in many models for the past 4 years, at least to the extent of my knowledge. However, that feature has changed over time. In this particular model, the top, bottom, and rear of the ear cup is of the same material which seems to be memory foam. However, the front side is a bit more stiff. It took me a while to figure these out but after sitting at my desk I realized that the cushions on my arm rests felt pretty similar. To my knowledge those are filled with memory foam and a gel center. In previous models, the ProSpecs feature meant having a hidden pull string or plastic tab that would pull down the front side of the ear cup to allow the user to wear glasses. Adding a distinction to the feature would be better marketing. I had to play with the cups for a short bit looking for the feature as I remembered it last. After I couldn’t figure it out I glanced over at the manual to realize there is no mention of the ProSpecs feature anywhere, only back of the box. The other feature I’d like to poke at is the wireless functionality. In older budget models, wireless meant it was a native wireless connection. I admittedly fell for this, but if you don’t notice the USB text on the box (next to the “GEN” text) chances are you missed it as well. You’ll need to have a spare USB port on your xbox to use these. If you have chargers, external hard drives, or wired remotes, chances are you wont have a spare for a headset. Conclusion These have a great audio quality and good features. However, if you’re shopping in store be sure to go over the packaging in its entirety to make certain these will work out for you. Outside of the lazy marketing the only real issue is construction, but with a little care these will server you well for many years.

The Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB wireless headset for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One is another great product from the gaming accessories manufacturer, Turtle Beach. The main advantages to this headset is that it is wireless, lightweight and offers several sound options. For the price, you get everything you need and want, if you’re an Xbox gamer. The microphone must be pulled out of the left side to activate, and you can quickly mute it by pushing it back. It makes a sound whenever the mic is unmuted or muted. You can also bend the microphone closer to your mouth. As much as I like the concept of this, I didn’t find it super easy to push it closer to my mouth, as I noticed more resistance than I expected. The headset offers several sound options. The standard setting (Signature) is perfectly fine, but you can also choose Bass Boost, Bass + Treble Boost and Vocal Boost. Bass + Treble Boost might be my favorite, but it will depend heavily on what game you’re playing and the EQ settings within the game (e.g. Call of Duty.) Another sound option is the Superhuman Hearing, which is designed to make it easier to hear enemy footsteps and reloads. Although this may be very tactical in a competitive setting, I preferred the sound without this on, as it sounds a little boxy to me. This is an official Microsoft licensed headset for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, which is both good and bad. It’s great for dedicated Xbox gamers who want to take advantage of Xbox features such as Windows Sonic (Surround Sound), Dolby Atmos and DTS Headphone: X. The disadvantage is that it’s only compatible with Xbox, so if you have a console from PlayStation or Nintendo or a PC, you can’t even plug in with a 3.5 mm cable. If that’s the case, I’d look at the MAX version of the same product, which offers a USB plug that also works with other consoles and PC by switching from Xbox to USB, it’s only $30 more. My presumption is that Xbox/Microsoft have their own wireless technology that needs to be kept separate from the wireless technology that is compatible with everything else. Again, the advantage of the Xbox wireless technology is the Surround Sound and Dolby Atmos. By default, the headset uses Windows Sonic, and it sounds great right out of the box. If you’re looking for what might be the best sound, consider Dolby Atmos. The only downside is that there is a $15 fee to activate it, although you can try it out for free for one week, and at least when I downloaded the app, it gave me a 25% discount for 14 days, making it only $11. Is it worth it? Yes. I’ve never been more immersed in a video game than when I played the Black Ops: Cold War campaign with Dolby Atmos. Incredible! Game and chat volume are separated with two sliders. This works fine and with the amplified speakers, the sound is powerful and rich. I never felt the need to turn it all the way up, and I’ve listened to plenty of rock and roll in my life. The mic is great, and I need to express my appreciation for the mic monitoring. Although this is not something that can be adjusted or turned off like the Turtle Beach Xbox controller, it’s nice being able to hear yourself when the mic is on. With my previous headset, I often felt the need to speak louder because I couldn’t hear myself properly, so it’s nice to be able to hear myself and know what the other person is hearing, like when I accidentally touched the mic with my left hand and it makes a big “boom” sound. (Sorry to the French kid I played with in Fortnite the first night I was wearing this!) Who should get this headset? A dedicated Xbox gamer who wants to get the most out of the sound options that the new Xbox consoles offer and is looking for quick ways to adjust the sound while playing. The high-quality mic and mic monitoring and a 24 hour battery life make this headset perfect for long days of gaming. This is my most recommended headset for Xbox in 2022 in this price range.

These headphones by Turtle Beach, which are designed specifically for Xbox consoles, not only meet my expectations, but also exceed them. Right out of the box, these headphones are very easy to use and set-up. You may have to charge them initially, and you will have to go into your Xbox settings to change a setting, but this is all said and walked through on the instruction manual inside the box. Included is also the wireless USB receiver and a USB charging cable for the headphones. Definitely not rocket science to figure it out and set it up. Using this headset has to be one of the most exceptional experiences I've had when using a gaming headset for consoles. The sound when playing games that really require it, such as FPS/competitive games and games that may require sneaking around is amazing. I can easily distinguish where a sound may have originated from, and then allow myself a chance to react quicker. And of course, that then allows me a chance to come out victorious. At least for most of the time... Additionally, this headset is easily adjustable to fit one's head, and the control buttons are easy to use and navigate. I specifically like being able to "flip up" and turn off my mic when I don't want to use it. I've been able to get in some longer gaming sessions with this headset, and the battery life on this product is good enough for my casual to moderate gaming. I'd imagine for someone who may game more frequently than me or has longer gaming sessions, this headset would also met your expectations. For me, I just charge them when I'm not using them, so then I have it always ready to go. As an added bonus, this headset does feel like it was made with quality and it has a nice aesthetic look, though that is subjective. Awesome job Turtle Beach!
