My favourite tea ever. Delicious black or with milk. I’ve tried many brands of earl Grey but always come back to TWININGS nothing compares. It’s not the cheapest however it’s also still affordable. They do come in a large size box in addition to there smaller one which personally I find to be of perfect size as flavoured teas seem to be more of a one off. TWININGS tea always tastes so fresh and comes packaged in a foil wrapper for extra freshness. If I could give it more than 5āļø I would.

I wouldn't classify myself as a tea snob, but I do really enjoy a variety of tea, and I'm picky when it comes to black tea. I want something strong, with a lot of body that will stand up to milk. Twinings is absolutely my go-to. I've tried loose leaf English Breakfast tea from Teavana and other specialty tea stores, and have always been disappointed. Their flavor is more plant-like, and less smokey, and overall weaker than Twinings. This tea also doesn't get bitter when I steep it for too long. Sometimes I forget, and it'll steep for 30 minutes. I just get a stronger cup of tea, not a bitter one.

Cup at home, made from a teabag. Pours hazy dark brown (against white china) with sediment. Intense aroma of malt, bergamot oil, citrus and, well, horse manure, if you ask me, with some leafy notes of black tea. Bitter flavour of black tea, with some malty notes, and citric touches and hints of bergamot oil. Astringent palate with leafy and bergamot notes and very mild citric hint. Well, I like a good Early Grey but this one is, well, rather disappointing, especially in its aroma. I followed the instructions on the packaging, but it seems to me that I had overbrewed it in the end. The flavour, and certainly the scent, is not light, as the packaging says. Well, that was it. Fortunately, it wasn't expensive

The favourite afternoon tea of the day, loose tea and teabags. I use two teabags in a tall china mug, for fresh, strong, tea, using soya milk and one teaspoon Demerara raw cane sugar.I enjoy Earl Grey in a china teacup with a slice of lemon, too.Bergamot, a favourite taste and perfume!

As others have said, the new recipe is utterly awful, tasting more like builders’ tea. Been drinking this exclusively for 30+ years but will now have to find an alternative brand. So sad when a product is updated beyond recognition. The original decaffeinated tea was delicious. Those who wanted a stronger tea could easily buy from the vast range on offer. Please reinstate the original blend. The new version doesn’t even rate one star!

I have paid a premium price for this tea for 30 + years. It has been the best, I have loved it. But the new version falls way short of even the cheapest supermarket versions. So disappointed, please bring back the taste & smell that we loved. The new teabags make a tea that is way too strong and without that gorgeous aroma. It's a big " no " from me. Sainsburys own brand at £1.80 is much better.

The new flavour (ā€œgreat new tasteā€) is not great at all. Advertised as delicate, it is anything but delicate. Agree with the earlier comment, the new version is like builders tea. This used to be my favourite tea of all, sadly no more. I can only assume this is cheaper to make by using lower quality tea. I will NOT be buying this again.

Earl grey had me drowning.
14 January 2023

I do love me self a lovely cuppa tea in the mornings and afternoon, but twining earl grey did me no justice. This tea was not for me, the taste of bergamot was too over powering even though i just brewed it for a minute or two. The strong smell and taste of the bergamot reminded me of being in the bath filled with Westlab Mindful Epsom & Himalayan Bath Salt with Frankincense & Bergamot. With every sip i took i felt as though i was drowning in my bath tub.

Good flavour and not too strong
13 March 2022

This is my favourite type of tea which many companies get wrong. I never add milk and firmly believe milk spoils the delicate taste. Too many companies make this too strong. It needs to be an amber colour. Twinings nearly get it right. It is a little strong and needs a flavour boost, needs a little more bergamot. But otherwise a pleasant drink. What is important is that Twinings pack these bags in an air-proof bag. Other companies do not and, consequently, their tea tastes a little stale and weak.I bought this item because it was on offer. I would not pay the full price. Often, if you wait, you can find it on offer somewhere.I think the Twinings pyramid tea bags are better but they are difficult to find.

Do you like Earl Grey or fruity teas If so, you may or you may not like this. Not very helpful, I know, but thats about as much assistance as I can give you, Im afraid. I can take or leave Earl Grey as I find the taste of bergamot in my tea to be just a little too strange not quite fruit but not quite something else. I also dont like fruity teas very much, which I feel more often than not taste like warmedup juice drinks. On the other hand, I LOVE the taste of Lady Grey tea, which for me strikes the perfect balance between proper tea and the fruity variety. The bergamot you get in Earl Grey is still there, but its been subdued by a gorgeous blend of orange and lemon, while at the same time leaving the underlying black tea flavour very much intact. But the citrus flavours dont overpower the drink, they just add a very slight sharpness and a refreshing hit to something that might otherwise be a little bland. Think of an ordinary black tea that has had some orange and lemon flavouring added to it and youre pretty much there.Almost as important, the predrink aroma is also something you have to experience for yourself and gives you an idea of the taste that awaits you. Here, the teas citrus notes are very much evident and fill your nostrils and your kitchen with a fantastic summery, citrus grove smell that I dare anyone not to be lured in by. If ever an aroma told you exactly what to expect from a drink, it was this one.Lady Grey tea is exactly the kind of drink I think of when I think of my perfect fruitbased tea. Rather than overriding the black tea taste, the orange and lemon enhance it and give something that goes very well on warm summer afternoons. I dont particularly like iced tea, but Id imagine that Lady Grey would also be perfect in that role.
