I often use the Wonderboom for traveling. I have been to so many hotels and no matter how comfortable the bed sheets, or accommodations, the walls still seem pretty thin. I love playing white noise sounds to sleep and Wonderboom fills the rooms I stay in with the perfect pitch and sound that I need. I wish there was a way to record and allow you to hear what I hear because I am very pleased with my Wonderboom. I love their family of products and dream about the day I get to upgrade for the larger speaker in the their line of speakers. This is also an ideal speaker for the college student dorm-life or apartment life. It's easy to manage, very durable, and water proof.I have taken my Wonderboom on tubing trips on the river and I use a carabiner to secure it to my tube. By the end of the first hour I have a group of people near or around my group because the music coming from the Wonderboom is that crisp and full of sound. No matter the genre, the movie type, or sound... you'll be pleasantly satisfied with the Wonderboom 3. Oh and give that outdoor boost a try, I love waiting a bit to turn that feature on to get people talking, or to stop talking if they are too loud I tap the button and the sound becomes even fuller. Oh and I’m glad this one was built using recycled material, lots of companies are doing this and it feels good.

The Wonderboom 3 is an excellent compact, go anywhere Bluetooth speaker. With light weight and handy size it is easy to tote around the yard or on a trip to the beach. Is it a powerhouse for rocking that rave or house party? Probably not, but it is quite nice with a few friends or just for yourself around the house or yard.Very similar in overall look and feel to the previous gen model, the Wonderboom 3 has some small improvements to the build that seem like they were thought out rather than changes for the sake of changes. For example, the previous generation Wonderboom had a simple loop of cord to hang the speaker from something like a carabiner or a small hook/nail. The new model has a piece over the cord material to provide reinforcement and I can see how it would prevent the loop from becoming easily frayed, especially if you frequently put the speaker on and off a hanger. Another nice change was the size and feel of the physical buttons, which are much more prominent and have a more natural push to them. The fabric wrap around the body of the speaker is a little more raised and tactile, and I personally found this made holding the speaker in one hand easier is it was less likely to slip.In terms of sound, I found it quite acceptable for such a small package. With the volume cranked up to max on my phone and the speaker it was capable of putting out an impressive amount of sound without distortion. I’m and no bass fanatic and prefer a good balance of lows and highs, but I personally thought that at very high volume the high end overwhelmed the bass a little bit, making the overall sound a bit thinner. At lower volumes, where I will almost always be using the speaker, the bass was enough to balance the sound just fine and the overall tone was much warmer. Clarity was never a problem at any volume. Sound projects fairly well around the speaker, but I would not go so far as to call it a true 360 degree projection. The sound seems to primarily emanate from the “back” of the speaker, the side opposite the plus/minus control buttons. This isn’t really too noticeable unless you are at a pretty low level and close to the speaker, but it will influence where I would place it in relation to other objects or structures. As of now I just have the one Wonderboom 3, but I am considering picking up a second that I can pair with the one I do have. When using two of these you can create a stereo pair rather than just linking multiple speakers playing both channels. Not always necessary, but still nice when you want it.Connecting the speaker to my phone was a snap, and operation is extremely simple. There is a nice little quick start guide included with the speaker and it covers all the basics of operation quite well. It would have been a plus if this speaker cam with a USB-C or fast charge option, but it comes with just a small micro USB, and it felt like it did take a while to reach full charge out of box. That said, battery life seems to be excellent, and I have been using it on and off for days and it still has significant life. I tend to run it at what I would say is about 50% volume so mileage may vary at higher or lower settings. This sucker FLOATS! To test the claim that this speaker is safe to use around or even in the water I went ahead and dropped it in the pool while playing. 30 minutes later it was still playing just fine. No water made it past the charging port cover, but a lot seemed to get trapped by the porous fabric cover. I would be concerned about the amount of water the cover seemed to hold causing damage if the speaker gets repeatedly or consistently wet. Still, if you place it on the edge of the pool to play music and someone knocks it in, it won’t be ruined as long as the charging port cover is secured in place.I rate this speaker as 5 stars in its category as protected from the elements and highly portable for music on the go.

Decent sound but odd choices otherwise

I had up until fairly recently an early example of a UE miniboom portable speaker, and that thing lasted for over a decade. So I have few concerns about the potential longevity of this product with that history in mind. These have come quite a long ways in that 10+ years, but surprisingly in a few ways not so much. First off what people generally buy these for: sound. It sounds pretty good, but is sorely lacking in bass compared to both its ancestor and other contemporaries I have tried. Other than the bass however it is nice and clean, no distortion problems and everything is very clear. It produces a lot for its size as well. Right out of the box it had a sticker on the top of it that indicated what the 3 buttons do but beyond my comprehension the device itself does not have any clear markings for what those buttons are. So if you don’t know already, good luck figuring it out which is frustrating. The top button is for Bluetooth, the middle one is play/pause, and the bottom one is power but again no way to know it from the device itself. As far as power goes it will last a good long time, I have yet to even charge it since I got it. And that’s another thing I find crazy, is that it charged with micro usb instead of usb-c. The decade old speaker used micro usb as well and here we are still going old school. So it sounds pretty good, but rocks an old charging solution and has no markings on the buttons. So I don’t know if I can say it’s the greatest but definitely not bad. Maybe wait for a sale on it.

Excellent speaker at an excellent price

This speaker is very good. Depending on the sound profile you prefer I'd dare say it's best in class.I'll start with the design. As with most Ultimate Ears products, the design is great. It's very well built, sturdy, and will have no problem standing up to accidental drops, water spills, or dust (as in you've got it on a work site and there's particulates in the air). The mesh that surrounds most of the exterior feels like the same tough material on the UE Roll 2 I've been carrying around for years. The rubberized surfaces not covered by the mesh feel durable and should not crack, abrade, or scuff easily. The rubberized surfaces not covered by the mesh feel durable and should not crack, abrade, or scuff easily. Also of note is that the carry/anchor loop on the upper back has some elasticity and has a rubberized center both of which should prevent it from wearing our or tearing due to tension over time or being clipped and unclipped (using a carabiner for instance) onto surfaces like fences.Power-wise the spec sheet says you'll get up to 14 hours on a charge. I've gotten as much as 10, but then I'm usually listening outside at between 65-75% volume. Most of these "up to XX hours" usually mean at about 50% volume the whole way through. So, solid battery life that'll get you through a work day or day trip for sure.Sound-wise this is an excellent speaker. I say this with 2 footnotes, however. It is excellent as compared to other speakers in its class and price point. It won't hang with bigger kids (think JBL Flip 6 or JBL Charge 5), but then those speakers cost $30 to $80 more and honestly don't sound much better. And I say this as a devout JBL Charge 4 user of several years. My other footnote is that preferred sound profile can vary significantly from person to person. I'm sure there will be many people out there who will think I'm nuts to say what I said regarding the aforementioned JBL speakers and say that the Wonderboom 3 sounds much better. Indeed if you like emphasis and crispness on the mids and highs and definitely acceptable but nothing extraordinary on the low end, then you will love this speaker. The low end is not bad by any means, but it didn't wow me either.I have some other miscellaneous on the sound as well. It gets VERY loud for a speaker of this size and form factor. Also, even with the volume maxed I was amazed with the minimal distortion. Also due to the form factor it sounds equally good from any position around it and can fill up a moderately sized room with sound without breaking a sweat. I didn't really like the way the outdoor mode changed the sound (definitely skews emphasis toward the mids/highs more) so I kept it off most of the time. As I mentioned earlier though, your preference may vary.Lastly I want to talk about one other interesting tidbit and the one thing I definitely don't like about this speaker. In looking through the documentation that came with it I came across instructions for disassembly and removal of the battery and it looks as though it could potentially be user replaceable if you wanted to. I'm not sure if the company would be willing to sell a new battery separately, but if so that only serves to extend it's overall life and make this speaker an ever greater deal.Sadly, it's 2022 and somehow the Wonderboom 3 still has a microusb charging port. WHY Ultimate Ears? WHY? Please please PLEASE use USB-C for the Wonderboom 4. We're tired of having to keep multiple types of charging cables on hand. All in all, I really like the Wonderboom 3 for everything it is and would honestly recommend it to anyone. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one and it is truly a "go anywhere" type of speaker.

When I first heard about the Wonderboom 3 Waterproof, Dustproof, Bluetooth speaker by Ultimate Ears, which is a subsidiary of Logitech, as a Quality professional, I was impressed by it being rated to the internationally recognized IP67 standard for high level of protection of its inner workings from water or dust damage. That is impressive and takes very good design engineering and manufacturing quality control to sustain.I was also impressed that Ultimate Ears had endeavored to produce this speaker with a minimum of 31% post-consumer recycled plastic and then succeeded in getting certified for this by SCS Global Services, a renowned international leader in third-party certification, validation, and verification for environmental, sustainability, and food safety ... MoreWhen I first heard about the Wonderboom 3 Waterproof, Dustproof, Bluetooth speaker by Ultimate Ears, which is a subsidiary of Logitech, as a Quality professional, I was impressed by it being rated to the internationally recognized IP67 standard for high level of protection of its inner workings from water or dust damage. Equally impressive is the company’s usage of sustainable packaging and certification by FSC, whose certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. As an Environmentalist, I find companies with such practices as these are to be lauded. I wish more would organizations would follow Ultimate Ears’ example and place Environmental sustainability in their Mission Statement, objectives and practices. So, I was excited when the Wonderboom 3 arrived. I removed the small, sturdy speaker from its box and used the included USB charging cable to plug it into my laptop to charge, while I worked at home. I found the Wonderboom design to be handsome, but fun.It took a couple of hours for the charging light to stop blinking. Since it was a chilly workday, I wasn’t ready to go test it outside. So, I paired it to my computer by Bluetooth. After being startled by the loud, strange sound that the Wonderboom made at pairing, I played music videos of a band I was going to see later in the week. The sound was rich, crisp and clear with very good 360-degree sound and good bass. It was a joy listening to this band through the Wonderboom 3.I switched to a streaming show and was impressed by the clarity of the dialog and the fullness of the background music and sound effects. Amazing for such a small, portable, wireless speaker. Very impressive.Though I probably would never turn the volume up high, I tried the Outdoor Boost feature. It did as it was advertised and boosted the speaker’s loudness, but I did notice a slight loss of bass. The sound did remain clear and could be made out from the far end of the adjoining room. So, of course, I had to test out the Wonderboom’s waterproof properties. Since I didn’t have a pool, lake or ocean to test it out in, I used my kitchen sink. I filled the sink with water, made sure the seal over the Wonderboom’s USB charging port was secure and dropped the active speaker into the water while playing one of my favorite songs. It happily floated around the sink while not missing a beat. I swished the water around and rolled the Wonderboom around and left it sit in the sink playing for over a half hour. No leakage and good sound! I was tempted to take it in the whirlpool bathtub with me. It definitely would work. I may do that. Now, I am debating whether to get a second Wonderboom 3, so that I can set both speakers up for stereo sound. If one Wonderboom 3 can sound as good as it does, then two in stereo would be awesome!I would definitely suggest the Wonderboom 3 to my friends and family.

Here Comes The Boom!

This is my third edition to our setup, which definitely helps from having to share. The sound output is great and indoors can definitely fill a room and outside by the pool is super convenient and no worries about it getting wet…it really does float!Only 2 Booms can be linked, but it is still a pretty cool feature.Battery life: I cannot comment on hitting 14 hours, I definitely don’t use it that long at one use, but I can definitely use it for hours at a time on different occasions and it lasts each time I need it too. After the third use is typically when I will charge. Charging time is quite slow, there is no fast charge capability, so give yourself at least 2 hours to reach top charge if you're planning on being out and using it extensively for the day. ... MoreThis is my third edition to our setup, which definitely helps from having to share. Also, the included charger cable is the best one to use. I’ve tried in the past using my included phone cable and the port cut out dimensions are pretty tight; the included cable fits, unfortunately it is a little short, so charger on a countertop with a close outlet. The cable does fit the cut-out perfectly, I don’t know if it offers any IP rating still, but considering how deep the charge port is, the design of the cable will definitely make it difficult for any dust or liquid to get to the charging port using the supplied cable.Charging Cable: UE is still using a Micro-USB port and not a USB-C. For me having multiple Boom’s, this is definitely helpful, but if you're just buying one, you’ll definitely need to keep that cable handy.I can easily recommend this speaker. Pairing with my Galaxy Note 20 was super easy and these speakers have always been super quick to connect.I can easily recommend this speaker. I docked 1 Star because by now, UE should have some sort of faster charging capability, but seeing as they are sticking with Micro-USB therein lies the charging limitations.

Powerful speaker Lots of features & few downsides

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is a compact portable speaker with big sound and a small price tag. If you are someone who don't want to shell out more than 100$ but still need a powerful Bluetooth speaker with great sound, IP67 rating, long battery life and good bluetooth range then this speaker is for you.Packaging - The packaging was pretty simple with just the Speaker, Micro USB cable, User Guide and Instructions on functions of each button.Similarity between Wonderboom 2 and Wonderboom 31. Same price range of $99.992. Almost same sound.3. Same Micro USB charging cable4. Great Sound - Its truly amazing sound that one can expect from speakers at this price point. The 360 degree speaker ensures that the sound is evenly distributed across the room. Plenty of punch makes it a great little party speaker.2. Easy setup - It just took less than 5 seconds to connect from my Android phone. I almost did nothing. As soon as I pressed the Bluetooth button on the speaker i got the prompt on my Android phone and when I hit connect, the speaker was already connected. It was that simple.3. IP67 rating - This speaker is both Waterproof and dustproof due to the IP67 rating and can be submerged under the water upto 1 meter for about 30 minutes. Also it floats. I haven't tried this both I am pretty sure this should work. This should be a great party or poolside speaker.4. Battery life - This has a huge battery. The battery life got increased by 1 hour (from 13 hours on Wondeboom 2 to 14 hours on Wonderboom 3). I tested this by playing the sound for straight 14+ hours. With the sound set at around 30% the battery was good even for 15 to 16 hours. May be on full sound or even at 70% sound i think it will last for 14 hours as promised by Ultimate Ears. This is really a great feature as people can really not worry about charging their speaker while partying.5. Bluetooth range - I haven't tested this but the bluetooth range has increased by 31 feet (from 100 to 131 feet) which is a big change considering the distance. This will be really helpful when partying outdoors really not worrying about the Bluetooth range and reducing the anxiety about losing the bluetooth range.6. Outdoor mode - This mode boosts the bass to make the sound more impactful when you’re playing music outside.7. Sound boost - Two Wonderboom speakers can be connected with each other to make the speaker more powerful and provide a sound boost and the setup is easy just by pressing and holding the multifunction button on top of the speaker we will be able to pair two speakers. If we press it again we will be able to switch between mono and stereo modes.Cons:1. Micro USB - We are in 2022 where most of the gadgets have USB Type C connector but Ultimate Ears did not upgrade from Micro USB to Type C which many were anticipating. It is a big let down. Hope Ultimate Ears considers this and upgrades to Type C charging to stay in the race atleast with the next version of Wonderboom speakers. It takes about 2 hour and 30 minutes to charge the speaker from zero to full. If it was Type C, it would have been possible to charge the speaker in almost less than half the time.2. Battery level indicator - Checking the battery by simultaneously pressing the volume buttons + and - is easy but the 3 different sounds for Full or Medium or Low battery sounds are confusing. At the first place I had to go to the Ultimate Ears website and found out that there are 3 different sounds for each battery level. Secondly I felt that the sounds for each level is not clearly distinguished. For Full battery we hear sound something like to-do-do-do (in fast tempo). For Medium battery we hear to-do and for the Low battery we hear to-do-do-do (in slow and fading tempo). This is sometimes confusing or atleast will take few weeks to understand and differentiate between each of these 3 sounds. It would have been better if Ultimate Ears had provided the visual indicator with three lights or something that is easy to identify the battery level.3. No Smart phone app is available to control the volume or tracks or even to know the battery life. Especially in the fast changing world. But at this $100 price point we cannot expect too many things. But it would have been nice to have an app.

Small and Loud!

UE's latest WonderBoom includes all of the same features of the previous generation and adds additional battery life. The UE WonderBoom 3 comes with a built in non-datachable band, a Micro USB cable for charging, and the speaker itself. The UE WonderBoom 3 is built to stand the elements of your small party or gathering where you are willing to take it. On top of that, UE rates the battery lasting for 14 hours.Being a small and compact speaker, it fits in the palm of my hand and packs a decent amount of audio in such a small package. I was surprised at how loud it was for it's size and can see how it is perfect for small parties at a park, cookout, or around a pool. () Compared to other smaller speakers I've owned and used in the past, the WonderBoom 3 produces audio from 360 degrees and wherever it is left, you will be able to hear the audio from all sides of it. On the bottom of the speaker there is a button to enable an Outdoor Boost mode. From my experience, this makes it sound like the audio was given a small boost and vocals in music sound slightly clearer. Another neat feature is the ability to add a second WonderBoom 3 and play audio from both, simultaneously. While this speaker is relatively loud for its size, I found the audio quality lacking in some aspects. Mids and highs were a tinge on the tinny side and slightly muffled. Lows were decent and more pronounced as compared to the higher frequencies. If you were looking to adjust the EQ levels, you would have to do it from the device you're playing audio from, as the WonderBoom doesn't offer any EQ adjustment settings. While audio lacks the details mentioned above, altogether the audio sounds good and is what you would expect from a small speaker.Additional hardware downsides I found include no aux support and the fact it still uses Micro USB versus the new USB C standard.Overall, I enjoyed using the WonderBoom 3 and recommend it to anyone looking for a compact speaker that can get loud and also can withstand the outdoor elements.

Solid little BT speaker, with outdated micro-USB
11 September 2022

Not much has changed with the 3rd Wonderboom release this year. Now some of that is good I guess you could say, but the one thing that is not good is this speaker charges with micro-USB. Hard to believe anything in 2022 is still using this outdated charging connection, but that's what we have with the Wonderboom 3. This speaker also lacks a 3.5mm jack, so no option to run this with a wired connection. Less is more? Not sure on that. The speaker itself has a lot of positives going for it. A very solid construction, with a mesh covered body. IP67 dust and water proof means no need to worry about it getting dirty or wet. It will even float if you drop it in water. This "outdoor" mode will cut some of the bass and increase the treble, so you get a brighter and louder sound signature. Speaker has a good Bluetooth range, so moving away from the speaker for fairly long distances with your audio source isn't much of an issue. So overall, not a bad little speaker. There are two active drives firing in opposite directions and 2 passive radiators, also firing in opposite directions. This will give you more of the multi-directional sound output. I still had to ding this speaker 1 star due to the micro-USB charging port.

Tiny, but packs a mean punch!

The Wonderboom 3 is a minor refresh to the well-received Wonderboom 2 speaker.Don’t let the size fool you the UE Wonderboom 3 might be small, but the sound is not at all. I was surprised by how loud it sounded but not sounding tinny at all. A lot of small speakers in this category sacrifice bass in order to be able to boost up the mids and treble, so it sounds loud but flat. What helps the sound output, it’s the ability to reproduce some mid to upper bass. There is no low-end bass but that’s expected how small the speaker is. It’s a great-sounding speaker with some sharp clear vocals accompanied by some mid-upper bass. It’s a great-sounding speaker with some sharp clear vocals accompanied by some mid-upper bass. I’m impressed by the sound coming out of the Wonderboom 3, sounds great no matter where you standing from the speaker. For a small outdoor gathering, the sound output should be sufficient. Now there’s an outdoor button located at the bottom of the speaker that helps to boost overall volume, but at the expense of bass. It does a good job of increasing the sound output, but it ends up sounding completely flat. At max volume, you do get some distortion. The overall design hasn’t changed much over the years but it’s still a durable speaker that can survive some drops and spills. It has an IP67 rating so outdoor usage around water shouldn’t be a cause for concern. I’m a fan of the design but would like to see a minor refresh at least for the next version. As for battery life, my usage consisted of having the volume right around 60%-75%. I ended up with 8-10hrs of playback. The 14hrs can be achieved but by limiting volume to under 50%. Even at 8hrs, it’s still a solid battery life in my books. The bad stuff is there is no app support and for some unknown reason, I don’t get a battery reading on my iPhone as I do with other speakers. The worst offender has to be the micro USB charging port. Being a 3rd generation product, at this point USB C charging port is expected, along with some quick charge capabilities. UE for your next version I highly recommend including those 2 recommendations. If it wasn’t for the lack of USC C charging along with a quick charge feature the Wonderboom 3 could have easily been a 5 out of 5. Even with the small quirk I still highly recommend the Wonderboom 3 for those looking for a small portable speaker.
