The Uniden Pro 510 XL is a powerhouse little radio. This was the first CB radioI ever owned. It was my Christmas present in 1995 at age 15. The first thing you notice with this rig is the sensitivity in receive. I'm not sure how, but compared to any other radio this size (considering it was manufactured circa 1992) it just has better components. Now, it's a very easy radio to work on. If you know the modality of cb radio, then you know how easy this radio is to set to 1.5 watts deadkey with insane audio quality. I've had swing on this radio up to 17 watts. It's doable with a Cobra CA-75 mic. This radio retailed for anywhere between 39.99 to 79.99 with the antenna back in the day. If you find a well preserved Uniden Pro 510 XL at a reasonable price BUY IT! YOU WILL ... MoreThe Uniden Pro 510 XL is a powerhouse little radio. This was the first CB radioI ever owned. Great CB on the cheap. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could; it's not a full blown 'knock my socks off' 5 stars, but for what it costs it has performed fantastically. I didn't bother with a review before since there's well over 1000, but since I managed to finally break it, now is a good time to do a long term review. Purchase date was April 2013 so it's a little over 4.5 years old. (Edit 2018...it's now 5.5 years old and still works...except for the speaker) It's in my Jeep so no roof or doors most of the time. Tons of dust and occasional mud, water, etc. It's mounted with the speaker facing inward to avoid the occasional splash or direct rain before I can get the roof up, but that's about the only real preventive measure. Dang thing still works after 5.5 years, but ... MoreGreat CB on the cheap. Dang thing still works after 5.5 years, but the speaker died over a year ago. Got an external speaker. REALLY should have done that sooner. SO much better than the little one in the c.b. (when it worked). Great for a noisy Jeep. And as far as transmissions go, I'm told my setup is one of the clearer ones to hear. Anyway, for around 30 bucks and 5.5 years of abuse, I can't complain, and the little dude still operates...mostly. One other thing to consider: It's brother the 510 got the ANL option and this one has the PA option. Their more expensive sibling, the 520, got both. The clarity is pretty dang good so I'm not sure how much ANL would improve my noisy Jeep experience. Wish list: It would be nice if Uniden made a small format CB with NOAA weather, just a thought.

I contemplated on this CB for months. I couldn't decide if i wanted a full size CB for the features or save space and weight and sacrifice. Turns out, this little radio kicks some serious butt. I really got the best of both worlds. It doesn't have a few features like roger beep or Noise Blanker or the built in SWR meter but it does have ANL that seems to work excellent. I thought that i would get a noise cancelling mic but the little mic that comes with it is truly a nice one as i get many "loud and clears" when talking to others. I wired it up using a cigarette lighter plug, which isn't the most ideal power source, but i get very low noise and i like the convenience. This radio has all the features that i would need for backwoods communication and i even saved a little money in the process. Highly recommend.

I've owned many CB radios and am also a licensed amateur. I dug out my old 10m antenna that I'd previously used way back for CB use and immediately found that I still had a practically motionless SWR. This little radio fit great in my newish pickup. There were lots of options on placement. The "ANL" switch completely eliminates engine noise. I'm impressed that it has an "RF Gain" knob. However - if you're more of a listener than a transmitter, you'll find that you spend most of your time with this knob turned 3/4 to full. If you put it on zero then the person you're listening to must be two feet away, I assume. Still, this knob is 100% worth the cost of the jump from model 510 to 520. The box says "Designed in USA", "Engineered in Japan", and in really small ... MoreI've owned many CB radios and am also a licensed amateur. It worked great - for a few weeks. Now I can't transmit at all, nobody ever hears me and yes, I had the antenna tuned. Also the output ports in the back are on the fritz. If I turn it on CB mode, you can hear the CB coming out of my PA speaker! And yes, the first thing I assumed was that the PA was plugged into EXT, but no, it's not. The EXT port is empty yet the PA is acting like EXT. I didn't totally blast the rating because at least it works fine for the reason I purchased it - as a PA speaker. I just turn the squelch all the way up so it suppresses any and all incoming transmissions so I don't accidentally blast the CB if I turn it on in the wrong mode lol. PA works great.
Simple compact CB radio. I’ve had the PRO505XL for 5 years and never had an issue. My first one was stolen out of my Jeep and for the price and satisfaction I had with the first one I didn’t hesitate to buy it again. I didn’t even shop around when I saw Home Essentials Directs price on it. I’ve paired it with a k30 antenna and also a firestik firefly and have found RX and TX to be clear with both setups. The only thing I wish it had is NOAA weather, but again for the price I got over it. The small form factor and simple controls allow for it to fit in most any vehicle and be manipulated without taking eyes off the road(mostly squelch). I’ve had it in a dodge neon center console bottom pocket and now it lives above my rear view mirror between my Jeep Cherokees ... MoreSimple compact CB radio. This is my second one I've had. First one I primarily used the PA function but this new one is now in my new Jeep Wrangler and have already used it on the highway and a few trails with some other guys and I have had zero issues with the quality. The sound is easy to hear and great quality for this smaller sized CB. As most know the real quality comes from the antenna and tuning it but beyond that the squelch knob works wonders when theres some interference from weaker signals and helps clear everything up. For the price you get alot of function that most pricier CB's dont even offer I don't think ill ever use another CB. The PA functions works wonders too I have no complaints with that. This CB Radio is of good value and of good quality and I would recommend it to someone who is looking for a compact economical radio , without too much cash outlay. Get one that is working , the one that I purchased was advertised as " Fully functional" , but it was not. The microphone that came with it does work. I bought the radio for a young man to introduce him to CB Radio . I will get this one fixed , so that he will have a functioning radio. I have bought several of these radio's and have had very good luck with them when bought new.
Fits into a small place with full power and full 40 channels. This radio will take a beating and keep ticking. It'll last you a long time. It's a good thing to have in your car with a magnet Mount antenna even if you don't like CB radios. It will come in handy someday and it could save your life if your cell phone isn't working.
Well made, high quality radio. T transmits with 7 watts of power. Most other CB radios only 4 watts. Get the Uniden power Baby!
