Bought this as a birthday gift for my 8 year old. Works well, the unit fits perfectly into his small hands. He’s delighted to be able to chat to his friends in the next suburb (about 3kms away). Seems to be a well made unit, though you should consider getting rechargeable batteries straight up for economy, each transceiver needs 3 x AAA.

Don't be fooled. these are not rechargeable like you mobile phone, cordless shaver etc. they don't have a build in battery. Like any battery operated device you have the choice to use normal batteries or rechargeable batteries. These allow you to plug charging cable straight into device rather than charge battery via a battery charger. that is the only difference. You have to have your own re-chargable batteries. i also found batteries don't last long either.

I brought these for my grandson's birthday (5 year old). He and his older brother who is 7 take them everywhere. Because of their small size they are easy for little hands to use. Doesn't mean that they are not powerful though. Reception is great and there is no static when in use. They are also quite sturdy and can stand up to being knocked about by children in play. They are not just for kids though, as the adults in our family have been enjoying them as well. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

These are awesome. Only negative is that I thought they can work without AAA batteries and batteries can be used in case you are out and can't charge the walkie-talkies. So the charging cords provided are to charge the rechargable AAA batteries that one would have to put in the units. Once fully charged batteries last for around 5 to 6 hours.
I was looking for something for the kids that was better than just the cheap toy walkie talkies. This product is amazing. So clear and goes a really long way. I would recommend if you are looking for something for the kids.
Great wee set; purchased these for our property which is 30 acres, and our house is situated in the middle. Handy to have to radios so anyone out and about on the farm can stay in touch with the house, or call for an extra hand. A bit smaller than i imagined, but good size for kids to use too.
I bought a set of these for my son for a birthday gift and when he opened them I was shocked to see they didn't even come with batteries! The cost of batteries for these alone was worth almost as much as the product itself!
Bought this for a summer camping trip so I could communicate with my child. It was easy for her to use and the sound quality was excellent. We never had problems with range. My only improvement would be to add a lanyard so she could carry it more easily as girls clothes don't often have pockets.
Was told ,they work without batteries because they are rechargeable unit Needed to buy $50 plus of rechargable batteries so I could charge it . On sale twin pkt UHF CB was $50 . Only brought because I had wish card.
Very happy with the Uniden hand held radios. They work really well. Highly recommend.
