The UAD-2 Satellite is a must have, if you need to run multiple plug ins on your UAD. Apollo or whatever interface. Without it, my system glicthed and stutters while rendering audio or multitasking any processes. I have a I-9 MacBook intel with 32GB of ram .I have 21 UAD plug ins. Hope this helps ..

Now running my satellite with my Apollo twin solo in protools. Love the extra plugins that came as part of the promo package. Avalon plugin seems to find its way on to everything these days for me.I'm primarily doing vocals, and running it with the towns and sphere so I use that plug in as well. I wasn't sure if the octo would give me enough DSP to comfortably run my sessions and mixes with some of these plugins now add it to the fold.... But so far, the most DSP percentage I've used is about 50 or 60 while using probably around 10 plugins on mix & more on console.Really love that I made this investment. It's great to not have to work around using some of the best plugins I have on my hard drive.

Regardless of what DAW you're using I believe no matter what your studio size or budget we all run into lack of processing power at one point. Enter UAD satellite. It is such a great tool to "offload" much of the processing to this helpful box. My only regret is that I wish I had bought 3 OCTO instead of two "quads". UAD plugs are fantastic- they don't cover everything plug -in I want/need but I now use UAD to do most of my plug in processing which allows me to use the Native plugs that I love to a much higher degree. In short this is a great way to incorporate "load management" in the plug in sense. I have a mobile laptop rig as well and it so handy to be also able to pack up one of my UAD satellites and record remotely when needed. This product will truly help ... MoreRegardless of what DAW you're using I believe no matter what your studio size or budget we all run into lack of processing power at one point. Bought my satellite for more recording DSP cause I was having so much issues with it. Once I got it I realized that it was for DAW DSP, I was bummed. So during the Pandemic I stopped doing home recording and went to a outside studio, and that studio knew nothing about UAD! Guess what became my best piece of gear? Yes!! The satellite became my number one go to gear in 2020!!! It’s easy to work, it’s reliable, and it’s mobile!! You can use your own UAD plugins anywhere!!!! I highly recommend this satellite to everyone, especially for someone who has to move around from studio to studio.

You sit down, turn your computer on, and flick that front switch to power on your OCTO satellite. Instant power at your fingertips.Suddenly, you're at home, in front of a tv, with the family but simultaneously compressing guitars gently with the UAD Fairchild 670 adding that much needed saturation that suddenly finishes the mix!Whether you're making beats, mixing, mastering, or anything in between, this Satellite is going to make your workflow reach its potential.

I purchased this after having the Apollo twin duo for over 5 years and enjoying the unison plugin technology but needing a little more processing power for those taxing plugins. If you use UAD plugins to either track or mix in the box this satellite is made for you. I purchase this gear to help with my crashing issue in Logic Pro X. (It works just as well with any DAW and is perfect for LUNA users obviously.)I primarily use UAD plugins to mix and master. This has greatly reduced my need for processing power from my computer. I have had this for about 6 months and I love it.The only thing I dislike about this product is it only works with UAD plugins and that I can only insert 4 plugins to microphone insert on in the console. I'm sure there are ways around it but I looked into it.I have a project that has a total of 40 tracks and each track has 6 to 8 UAD plugins on each them and I am only using 50% of my 4th core out of 8. This thing is beyond powerful is all that I need to mix and track. It has met and surpassed my expectations. If you are debating if it's worth the money it really is, I will say the price of UAD plugins is a little steep but they are worth every penny.

Does not work in console. Such a shame!
13 February 2022

.This product does not work in the console. I did extensive research on this device, and there is very little coverage of this limitation. I use the Apollo devices I have for live mixing. I do not use a DAW at all. I instead have purchased a Apollo x8p to meet my DSP needs. It took me years trying to square the circle of the new age of NATVIE systems. With my purchase of the Octo, I was not only able to shed most of the worst sounding plugins from the competition (still love the LinMB which UAD doesnt even come close to with their Precisiom Multiband Comp [it just sounds whack]). This lets my computer and HD system keep all of its voices/tracks runs my 96kHz fine and the Octo does the heavy heavy number crunching, which great chambers, excellent Manley and LA2A type comps as well as the unbelievable MDWEQ. Totally lets me load up my plate and keep the CPU nice and chilled. Only two things would be: 1. When chaining some high maintenance plugins together it sometimes overshoots of what pro tools delay compensation is capable of compensating, so Ive been freezing some of all instances of the plugins on that channel to make sure the track plays in time. 2. You wont be able to track through the plugins [it seems to be built into their Apollo architecture] or input monitor (didnt seem to be a thing when I gave it 2 minutes - I could be wrong about the input monitoring). Any Im not mega fussed because I love outboard and its gotta be said - Im a fan of their blue tripe HOWEVER - my Urei REV D and Hairball Bluestripe do sound better when it comesto handling lowend. INTERESTINGLY the UAD Bluestripe sounds pretty much like the STAM AUDIO REV A. But I can get down with their 1176 and they do have the chewyness on drums (but the hardware was just much more confident when handling bass). Anyway. Im happy Im able to free up my Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro CPU and have consistency across the platforms as well having a lot of resources to run a lot of verbs and high intensity plugins, because the Octo has got me covered. #LoveHardware&SupportGoodMusic

Thank Musicstore for the buying experience! When I was forced to leave my studio in Ukraine, I urgently needed to find a replacement for my equipment in Germany. UAD - is a perfect dsp, which i can use without real studio hardware. And with Musicstore it possible a very quickly and comfortable!Danke!

Essential add-on to get the most out of UADs stellar plug-ins. Note that this will NOT add DSP to Console, but it will add many, many instances to your DAW.My Satellite came with plug-ins that I was about to buy anyway, approximately equal to the value of the hardware, so this was a no-brainer.
