The pack stays in place. The hose from the bladder also stays in place and the magnet that holds the bite piece in place is a nice touch. The zippered pouches hold my minimal trail tool kit and minimal first aid kit nicely with a snack bar - so perfect for a half day of hard trails. I wouldn't use this as a day bag for dual sport, it's not big enough to carry snacks and a proper tool and first aid kit - but it's not sold as a big pack. The expandable section would hold a light rain jacket. My Camel Bak bag that the USWE replaces (only because it's too big - 22L) is 7 years old and has about 400 hours of hard all weather riding on it and is still in great shape. It has resisted tearing through bush whacks, rain, mud, abrasion, hot exhausts, etc. The water bladder never had a funny taste and is also still in great shape. I still use it for DS rides. I'll be interested to see how the USWE holds up to this standard. I suspect the hook and loop attachments on the straps may not last over time.I was looking for a smaller bag that still carried 3L of water. The strap system had promise - and does deliver on keeping the bag from sloshing around on my back. My smaller riding buddies have no issues with the fit and comfort of the bag. They have also remarked on the taste of the water. It carries what I need for a day of riding (usually about 4-5 hours) but there's no room for little extras So because of the fit/comfort issues and the water bladder issues, for me it's a three star purchase.

Great on the bike - doesn't move around. A good feeling to lose those annoying waist straps... TIP: adjust shoulder straps so that the vertical position on chest is in a comfy spot then adjust lower rib straps to be as tight as comfortable for the most secure fit. The elastic harness bits still allow some movement for breathing. Did some fiddling with the straps until I figured this out. Good quality, love all the internal pocket features. FortNine had the best combination of product availability and service (colour ways, delivery time, pricing w/ shipping). The pack arrived promptly and perfect as promised. Alas, it didn't fit my body type (6'3" 230 lbs) so, reluctantly, I returned it (in perfect condition). I was not only promptly refunded but the communication throughout the process from start to finish was excellent. I really, really, wanted it to fit - all my friends ride these packs - but I had to send it back, and I am now really, really impressed with the way this company is managed. Customer Service pros. I got this pouch primarily
22 October 2020

I got this pouch primarily for cycling. I wanted to be able to carry more water besides the 2 bottles on the bike, AND, I wanted a way to carry a tube and tools. I had a bike pouch under the seat for a few years, but that rattles too much and ended up puncturing my spare tube over time. I then carried my tube/tools on my jersey pocket but it weights down my jersey pulling it way too far, lol! With this pouch I can have my tube/tools, extra water, and even put money, cc and do in the zippered interal pouch. Too bad my phone does not fit there. I used to carry my DL, $ and CC in a plastic ziplock bag and stick it in my Jersey back pocket but one day it fell off the Jersey. Lucky for me someone behind me saw it, picked it up from the road and handed to me on the next light! I am not sure I will be this lucky next time!, so the zippered internal pouch is absolutely perfect for this item. Another plus I fond is the ability to remove the tool pouch all together. That allows me to hike or run with the same pouch. And, last but not least, I am also able to stick a thin rain jacket between the removable pouch and the bag making this solution truly versatile. The only weird thing is that the water pouch insert got some yellow Mark's on it already, after only a month of usage. I tried washing it inside and out but apears to be a plastic reaction to something, not sure what as there is nothing else in the bag but that water container.

I have been looking for a race ready pack that has very minimal bounce without hampering comfort and this is it.
9 July 2021

Pros: This pack caught my attention after reading an advertisement which featured their “No dancing monkey” technology which they claim is “100% bounce free”. After several rides, I can confirm this claim is very true! I have been looking for a race ready pack that has very minimal bounce without hampering comfort and this is it. This pack design could also work very well for hikers and joggers. This small pack rides high on your back allowing you to access your lower back jersey pockets if needed. The 2 liter hydration bladder is leak free with a slide-seal top making it very easy to work with and does come with a secure fit strap inside. The 2 liter hydration bladder is leak free with a slide-seal top making it very easy to work with and does come with a secure fit strap inside. This pack is equipped with 2 enclosed storage options for any needed gear: One zipped pocket inside the hydration compartment the size of a hand, perfect for nutrition, keys, phone etc. and the other is a small, 4 latch removable storage pocket on the outside lower front that can hold a decent amount like nutrition, phone, multi tool, keys, light vest/jacket and even a spare tube etc. This pack also has 2 outside bungee straps for your clothing layers or light weight protective pads.Cons: The material is very thin making the bladder exposed to the heat on a very hot day. After a couple of rides in the 90-100 degree weather, I had to make an insulated pocket for the bladder which has helped a lot. Also, this model is not ideal for your long day/epic type rides because of the minimal hydration and storage capacity. I would recommend the 100 oz./3L models like the 9 or 15 models for the longer epic rides.

Really Doesn't Bounce!
8 March 2023

The harness system on this pack (and I imagine all USWE packs) is really outstanding. No bouncing for real. Very secure. And I ride a ton of northeastern tech so that's important to me.I choose this pack since it has a decent amount of storage and fits their largest bladder. The storage could definitely be arranged a little more intuitively, and I think this is an older model, but honestly, once this thing is setup, I use it every ride without thinking about it. Looks pretty cool too.Access to storage without taking it off would be nice (as some other packs have). You can purchase accessories for the front if you need quick access to gels, etc. But it's also really quick to take it off/on.I do prefer their bladder system over Camelbak. The best. Period.

Long time mnt biker from the shore. Have tried them all (Camel, Dakine, etc). Switched to the fashionable hip bag couple of years ago. Needed more space for bigger rides. Got the USWE and let’s just say the hip bag has been retired. Wear this on every ride. The most comfortable and well thought out backpack on the market. Everything is stretchy and has a purpose. Going to level up and getting the model with the back protector. He at work USWE!!

USWE packs are definitely great
22 October 2020

USWE packs are definitely great for the strap design, both because it allows a solid fit for tall folks like me with longer torsos, but naturally the no-bounce aspect while mountain biking.Where I'd say they fall short is a few key areas:First, the elasticized portions of the straps aren't particularly durable, showing excess stretch and fragmenting in relative short order, which is bothersome for this costly of a pack. Plan to replace the harness annually or every other year. The 2021 version of the Airborne 9 also lacks the right side anchor point previous years models had, to put the magnetic clip for the hydration tube, forcing use on the left side, which I can't say I'm nuts about - I prefer using my right hand to take a drink while riding. The compression sleeve for the bladder is also more of a pain to get the bladder into than earlier versions. Finally, when I compare USWE packs to other brands, the internal organization is not quite as functional as other brands are...more broad pockets with less dedicated tool spots and such than they have, and notably a lack of a key hook.

Use It On The Send!
23 June 2023

I purchased this pack for a multi-pitch climb with a long rappel at the finale; so I had hydration en route and a change into approach shoes for the rap. It worked perfectly. My wife, who is 100 lbs lighter than I, adjusted the straps so she could use it for bushwhacking and birdwatching. I only wish the inside back was more ventilated; but that's not a deal-breaker for me. At the sale price, it's a stone cold STEAL!

Works Well, But
2 August 2022

I wanted a pack for short day hikes and shorter rides and it actually fits the bill for this with the 2L bladder and small storage. With hiking I don't clip on the extra storage bag and leave my tube and kit in the storage bag at home, then when I ride I clip it on works well. It took about 3 emails to USWE to figure out how to adjust the pack and I think I finally got it. Customer service from USWE was excellent and we shared photos back and forth to define the fit.The negative is that because of how the pack is designed it does get a little warmer than a standard hydration pack. Other than that it works great for what I wanted.
