I am knitting my grandchild's choice for the afghan she has selected celebrating her graduating year from high school. She elected the Valley Yarns Log cabin pattern and an atypical set of yarn colors: natural, mauve, coral, crimson, siracha, and wine. The yarn is a pleasure to work with in garter and makes for clean pick-up on the edges. The outcome is successful, though quite heavy. The quantities suggested seem to be accurate, though I will hold my breath until the border is complete.

Amazingly soft yarn!

Made a lap blanket for a friend who will probably be undergoing chemo. The final blanket is incredibly soft, and the lace border blocked out beautifully. A gorgeous gift for my friend. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that while the yarn is superwash, it came out of the dryer with the ends quite frayed and unraveled. I always wash and block before weaving in ends, and again, the finished project looks great. But I do worry a little about how it will hold up in future washings, and whether those ends will fray more and pop out after washing.

Among my favorite standbys for clothes to keep and pass down
25 May 2023

I made this Rainy Day Mood pullover for my daughter, for example, and I love to make all kinds of things with this yarn. I think it's a reliable standby in great colors, and I love that if I run out (like I always do) I can get more and I won't blow my design. I know the quality is excellent and it will turn out soft and beautiful, and it won't get ruined in the wash by whoever gets the final product.

Disappointing yarn
1 September 2023

I recently purchased seven skeins of this yarn for a sweater. While winding them into balls, I found that four of them had knots and splits. It's so frustrating to be in the middle of a sweater on a circular needle and have to cut and rejoin yarn. I would never buy this yarn again.

Good for the price but has its issues
13 May 2020

So I bought this yarn since it was a great price and a pretty good color selection. Knitting is my full time job so I use a lot of yarn and love a good deal. Overall I'd use this yarn again now that I know what to expect but I did have a few notes that may deter some people from wanting to use it.- it does have several small slubs and joins throughout each ball (this doesn't bother me but I know it irritates a lot of people)- it stretches more than any other superwash wool I have ever used (I'd compare it to the stretch you get with alpaca and I highly suggest you swatch and wet block before starting any project)-it is slightly on the thin side (it's more of a light DK and doesn't plump up a ton post blocking)

I use this yarn for 95% of all my projects. Love it!!!

This is my go-to yarn for hats, scarves, baby clothes and stuffed animals, fingerless mittens etc. I always either buy it on sale for around thirty percent off or buy $60 of yarn to qualify for the 20% WEBS discount. So it's quite inexpensive. Lovely colors. Great selection of colors for baby clothes but I do wish that they would offer some more bright colors, although there are some. All in all, I love this yarn and don't agree with most of the "cons" that others have listed. None of the many recipients of my gifts made with this yarn have ever said that the washed garments stretch or shrink. Use cold water and put inside pillowcase or garment bag if you have that problem. As for pilling, it barely ever does and it's very minimal compared to many other wool yarns. ...Β MoreThis is my go-to yarn for hats, scarves, baby clothes and stuffed animals, fingerless mittens etc. I always either buy it on sale for around thirty percent off or buy $60 of yarn to qualify for the 20% WEBS discount. And it doesn't stretch while being knit but it has a bit of "give" that makes it easy to knit, unlike stiff cotton that is hard for me to use because of my tendonitis.

It's a nice yarn however.....

Nice yarn. I'm making a temperature afghan out of it with a shell stitch. However, I gave it a 4 because there is some inconsistencies in the thickness of the yarn-sometimes in a strand, sometimes in the whole skein-ie. the white was thinner than the other colors. For my purposes it makes no difference. For a garment it might make a big difference (if you have a whole section of white it will look different than another color). It has a nice feel in the finished product.

Love this!!

I have used this yarn for sweaters, vests, long scarves and hats for sensitive adults and tender babies. The merino is fabulous next to skin, even for those who cannot wear wool without feeling itchy. I love the feel of this yarn in my hands while I'm working. It's springy and holds its shape much better than most merinos.. It has great body, and stands up well to show off cables and patterns. My only complaint is that the skeins are short, which means planning for joining. I have used the knotting technique shown on the WEBS video for joining ends of yarn, and it works very well. The ends of this yarn weave in easily, so joining isn't a particular problem with this yarn, just a nuisance.I really love the color selection in this line, and it's become my go-to yarn ...Β MoreI have used this yarn for sweaters, vests, long scarves and hats for sensitive adults and tender babies. Being washable is almost too good to be true, but it surely seems to be so.This yarn also blocks well, which makes it quite forgiving for the little bleeps and blips that a novice knitter such as I might otherwise have to live with. I used Eucalon, soak for 15 min, blot, then shape and dry flat for blocking. It looks great after drying!!

Very soft, Good quality, very few knots.

I'm using this in a crochet blanket. Love the yarn and that it's machine washable. super soft! I would love a larger color selection. Mix this with other superwash yarns of similar weight to get all of the colors I want/need.
