My Vanguard Endeavor 82A with the 20-60x eyepiece out performs optics twice the price! I have had five spotting scopes over the years from different manufacturers and this 82A is outstanding in clarity, edge-to-edge brightness, focus range, ruggedness and eye relief.I use it for archery, air gun shooting, rifle and handgun shooting, hunting and some wildlife spotting so it gets lots of use in all kinds of weather, world wide! It’s not a light scope but it’s stable on a tripod and with the included carrying case easy to pack into the field.I’ve yet to use the lifetime warranty and hopefully never will have to. Would I purchase it again? Absolutely!

The bag seems good, have not tried that in the field yet, with rain moving in this week, it will soon get a workout I'm sure. Expecting this scope to last me a good 20 years plus.

Great Spotting Scope for Range Use

At 60X the .223 holes were all visible, but a bit blurry; backing down the magnification to around 45-50X really sharpened up the image, while still making the target very easy to see. One thing that really helped was the Tripod that Vanguard provided free as part of a rebate; it was not a chintzy freebee they were giving away, but a very stable high quality tripod with dampened video panning head that made it easy to manipulate to find the target and to hold it in place when locked.I am glad that I spent the ... MoreFinally got a trip to the range today to try out the scope for its intended use. Like looking through a $1000 or more scope!

This spotting scope is an excellent value purchase. I can clearly see .30 cal holes at 400 yards. The robust magnesium housing does add weight over some of the plastic units so you will need a higher quality stand and it is heavier in the field but I think the solid design makes for a product that will not suffer from the usual bumps and bruises that field equipment can be exposed to in real world use. The clarity is equivalent to several scopes I have used that are priced in the $1000-$1500 range. My buddy has a very nice Leupold so we placed them side by side and compared the brightness and sharpness out to about 500 yards on a clear day. His scope was a 60x max with a 60 mm lense. At max power, both were very clear with no real winner but the Vanguard seemed a bit brighter and we contributed that to the larger 82mm lense. We were in a small-town area perched on a hilltop building and we were amazed that we could read the small labels on the roof top heating units at over 200 yards, that's how well we could adjust the focus. It really helps with the second fine adjustment and the quality lenses. This scope also comes with a very nice carry cover that will add protection and allows the scope to be used without having to remove the entire cover. The cover is a tight squeeze to put on and it helps if you warm it up a bit. I also wish the end piece that covers the large end was not just a slip-on cup. It could easily slip off so I may add a little Velcro to mitigate any issues. I purchased this scope during the sale that also included a coupon from Vanguard to get a nice tall stand but also wanted a compact bench stand so I got Sirui. I was comparing some offerings from Vortex and others but anything that matched the performance of this scope was at least double the price. I am very satisfied with my purchase and as a bonus it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Bought this to use at the range with some Army buddies for a shooting competition. I helped a buddy who was trying to zero at 100 yds and at 60x, It was pretty good view of the target and 5.56mm holes (although it was very difficult to discern bullet holes in the black rings of the target). I don't have young eyes, and it was a really hot & extremely humid day, so there could have been atmospheric issues distorting the view. At 25 yards, it was great, but that's not a ringing endorsement. At home when I first got it, I used this scope to view the details of my neighbor's garden gnome at about 200 yards, and it was good and clear in fading evening light. At about 100 yards, I could easily read the warning labels on an utility box in his yard. At home when I first got it, I used this scope to view the details of my neighbor's garden gnome at about 200 yards, and it was good and clear in fading evening light. At about 100 yards, I could easily read the warning labels on an utility box in his yard. I didn't go test out a lot of scopes with much higher or lower prices, so I can't compare it to others. I was looking at another brand, same power and 80mm objective lens that was several hundred $$ higher, and since I don't shoot that often, went with the cheaper scope. I found reviews online of this scope written by a dedicated western hunter who gave it rough field duty in mountain hunting situations, and who thought it did a great job compared to others at higher cost. The case is a nice touch, but is difficult enough to put on that I left it in place while we used it. The slip-on front objective lens cover keeps falling off the lens, and could use a bit of velcro or a snap to keep it in place, an easy fix. I would recommend getting a lens cap keeper (with a cord) and using the actual lens cap over the padded fabric cover for the front lens. The two focus knobs are a nice touch, although the resistance could be a little stiffer... it's very easy to go past focus in either direction. The fine focus knob doesn't seem to do a great deal more than the rough focus one does in clearing up the view, but that could be my inexperience. I'd say Recommended with reservations - test other scopes before buying if you can.

Very Nice Scope
2 February 2021

I bought my Vanguard Endeavor HD82A from the Australian Dealer. It’s my first spotting scope, after years of using a pair of 8 x 40 bino’s, and I am certainly not disappointed. It’s used for birding and general interest viewing when my wife and I travel. I paired it with a Vanguard Veo 2 235 ball head tripod and the ‘46’ black case. A kit that’s easily packed in the car for those day trips. After the bino’s, the scope is amazingly clear and natural, and very easy on the eye, with or without glasses. There is NO WAY I could ever afford any of the Euro offerings, and this ‘kit’ is at the outer limits of my budget, but I get the feeling it will repay my trust in it with years of reliable service. The warranty is peace of mind also. Very happy I found Vanguard.

[Rewarded Review] Best Value for thr Pricepoint

Bought the Vanguard Endeavor Spotting Scope to use at the range. Watched my father buy a slightly less expensive scope and learned from his mistake. If you can afford it, you should spend the extra money to buy at least this level of a scope. Anything else below in price is a waste of your money. The price is not the cheapest nor the most expensive. It is a great scope within reach worth the cost. Clear low distortion glass and quality constructed. You will find youself feeling like you made one of the better decisons in life with this purchase. That's not bad considering how unpredictable life can be. Completly satisfied!

[Rewarded Review] Better than expected
22 March 2021

This scope offers a lot of features and quality for the bucks. The optics are clear and sharp, and the scope is solidly constructed. It's too bad Vanguard doesn't offer a prime eyepiece, such as a 30x, but the supplied zoom eyepiece is still quite good. Beyond 40x the image softens noticeably, although that's typical for most moderately priced scopes. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the focusing mechanism to be extremely smooth with just the right amount of resistance. The cover fits a bit snugly but it also provides excellent protection. I've been using the scope to observe birds and other wildlife as well as for casual astronomy.

[Rewarded Review] Great Scope for the price

I watch birds and really needed a scope to be able to better identify shore/lake birds as my bino's weren't giving me the reach I required. I wanted to spend less than $1,000 on my first scope, although I recognized my budget scope wouldn't be able to compete with the Swaro's I had tried out from friends. I read some birding reviews that spoke highly of this scope. I am Canadian and worried about brokerage fees and duty costs, but B & H gave me a quote so I knew what the total cost would be before purchase. The scope took 4 days to arrive, and cost exactly what I was quoted (no additional brokerage fees), it came with a rain cover and a nice added insulated Klean Kanteen mug as an extra. At full zoom, the image is slightly soft, and in low light, the image is not as clear, however, I am able to see shorebirds so much better now, and get a much further reach then what I was able to with my bino's. Very impressed at what you get for the cost. It is a great entry level scope for a birder on a budget.

This is the second vanguard endeavor spotting scope we have purchased, and I am very pleased with it. My scope has the same high quality at an affordable price as my son's. It brought the ducks way out on the lake into sharp view. This is the first time that I have purchased directly from vanguard, and their customer service was very helpful. I'll also say that we steered at least one other local birder to the vanguard endeavor after he had the chance to look through my son's scope.
