I have been wearing checkerboard slip-ons for 20 years and they have always treated me extremely well. They are comfy, go with every type of outfit (imho), easy to put on and timelessly stylish. I treat them as a consumable item that lasts about 2 years if you wear them daily. I like to keep 2 pairs. 1 pair of year old beaters for skating, rainy days, etc, and a fresh pair. I don't ever clean them or really take care of my shoes, half the fun is watching them build character over time I think. They are cold in the winter, not waterproof at all but still the perfect shoe in every way.

I was so excited to receive these as a gift I asked for for Christmas. I'm highly disappointed in the fact that the canvas "white" is very much a cream color while the stacked sole is pure white. I don't like the color difference at all. I also got a pair of purple and white regular checkered and they are pure white with pure white. I expected white and black to mean white, not cream... The canvas looks dingy compared to the nice white of the sole.

I'm really grateful that I can still buy vans and the fit hasn't changed. These are the only consistent shoes in my life. I put my shoes through a lot as I work in a production environment, am a parent so am constantly on adventures with the littles, and don't have time or energy to "baby" my shoes. My old vans were always on a skateboard, or walking to and from school, or climbing fences. These new vans may have different adventures, but they still hold up. Gotta love the classics!

They are beautiful. I've been wanting vans for quite some time & unfortunately it was never available in my size (at least not in the stores). I don't like ordering online until I know that the item will fit. It's always been an issue my entire life.Finally I was in a store & they had a 14 for me to try on & they fit perfectly. It was an easy decision after that. I ordered the color I wanted online. I do wish they offered the heavier more durable version vans in my size but they stop at 13.
Insoles are glued to shoe and therefore not removable: therefore, if one wants after-market insoles, one can only *add* them on top of the insoles that cone with the shoe and thus make the shoe smaller; one cannot replace the factory-default, non-custom ones that come with the shoe. And if the insoles wear out, one cannot remove/replace then to (re)freshen them/the shoes (neither can the insoles be removed to help the shoes dry faster if one wants).Would I recomend them? This would depend on the context, what one wants them for.
Perfect fit, rockin' look, super comfy I have a lot of Van's from an ever-growing collection of footwear, socks, sweats, tees, hoodies, scarves and the fit is perfect and the quality too. And I love the style. I'm shocked when I see a complaint about the fit. I have a back injury and have constant pins and needles in my feet, I can't drive and I was falling constantly and the only thing that is giving me comfort is my Van's. I can't feel if a slipper falls off, it's awful but I can get around wearing my Van's because they fit so good. Since I'm stuck in my house because of this I wear my new one's that I haven't been outside in yet so I can get around and I'm on my feet all the time and I have no rubbing etc. that some complain of. I bought these shoes for my Vans-loving son. He usually gets them in the black on black, but he saw the royal blue ones and really liked them. The fact that they were on sale was a huge bonus. I probably wouldn't have bought them if they weren't. The quality seems really good and the fit seems true. And they come in such a wide range of colors. He kept going between the royal blue and black on black ones, which he has worn to shreds! He loves them and we will definitely buy them again!
I am obsessed with these shoes! The platforms are so cute and they elevate the classic checkerboard to a whole new level! One thing I will say though is that they do run big. I typically wear a women's 7 and in most Vans I usually wear a women's 6.5. However, on this particular shoe I had to size down to the a women's 6 because the 6.5 was too big & my heal kept slipping out. I think it might be from the weight of the platform. The women's 6 is perfect though and they are the cutest shoes of the summer!
These are super cute but run huge on me. I am an 8.5 in all Vans usually, and have extremely narrow feet. These are at least half a size too big and are pretty wide. Not sure how on earth another reviewer found these to be too narrow? That is wild lol. Will end up exchanging for a smaller size and hopefully they fit! One thing you will want to make notice of in the pics, the demin squares have a bit of a distressed look to them, and it looks kinda weird on some squares as they are not really evenly distressed, but still love the look!
I love these sneakers, they're just as cute in person as they are online. However, they slip off of the heel SO badly. I first ordered the size I wear in all my Vans (women's 6.5) and thought maybe they just ran big, but after exchanging them for a half size smaller they were still slipping. And not just a little bit, to the point that it was hard to walk in them. I think the platform doesn't bend as easily as the original slip-ons which causes the issue. Maybe they'll work for larger sizes since they might flex better, but sadly it was a no-go for me.
