I have been wearing checkerboard slip-ons for 20 years and they have always treated me extremely well. They are comfy, go with every type of outfit (imho), easy to put on and timelessly stylish. I treat them as a consumable item that lasts about 2 years if you wear them daily. I like to keep 2 pairs. 1 pair of year old beaters for skating, rainy days, etc, and a fresh pair. I don't ever clean them or really take care of my shoes, half the fun is watching them build character over time I think. They are cold in the winter, not waterproof at all but still the perfect shoe in every way.

I'm really grateful that I can still buy vans and the fit hasn't changed. These are the only consistent shoes in my life. I put my shoes through a lot as I work in a production environment, am a parent so am constantly on adventures with the littles, and don't have time or energy to "baby" my shoes. My old vans were always on a skateboard, or walking to and from school, or climbing fences. These new vans may have different adventures, but they still hold up. Gotta love the classics!

Order your true size, these run narrow and tight on your foot. I think there's another re-issue version that might run bigger but these classic ones do not. I need to exchange these for my true size now to give me more room! For the price, it's still worth the effort to get the right fit.

I bought these shoes every 2 years for the last 20 years because they not only do they stay in fashion but are extremely comfortable, true to size, extremely convenient in your the slip on model, and always feel comfortable. These shoes not only stand the test of time, in the fashion industry, but are constructed extremely well. The only reason I buy them every 2 years is because I want to have the color selected looking clean and fresh and at there price point, since the mid eighties, have always remained an affordable sneaker worthy of wearing to a wedding, hanging on the beach, skating with friends, and every occasion in between. I've owned 3 pairs of the classic black and white checkered slip-on vans in the past. My last pair was a little snug despite breaking them in and I couldn't get them on if I was wearing socks. I opted to purchase the wide fit in a women's size 8 and these are great. Wide enough to notice a difference and feel comfortable, not too wide that they're slipping off my feet. They feel even more comfortable with a pair of socks. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a little extra room in their shoe.
Very comfortable and stylish slip on shoes! I wear them almost daily and they always add a nice touch to my outfits. I bought the checkerboard marshmallow on sale, and they are perfect. I did not read the reviews, which I’m glad because apparently, ppl are sizing down. But I found these ran TTS for me. I’m a true size 5 womens or kids size 3, and very rarely have to size up in any shoe besides in mules sometimes. My foot width is normal to narrow I’d say. These fit great and are comfortable right out the box for me. I don’t own any Vans. But when I saw this neutral color way, I had to get it. So cute and goes with everything. Highly recommend!
Perfect fit, rockin' look, super comfy I have a lot of Van's from an ever-growing collection of footwear, socks, sweats, tees, hoodies, scarves and the fit is perfect and the quality too. And I love the style. I'm shocked when I see a complaint about the fit. I have a back injury and have constant pins and needles in my feet, I can't drive and I was falling constantly and the only thing that is giving me comfort is my Van's. I can't feel if a slipper falls off, it's awful but I can get around wearing my Van's because they fit so good. Since I'm stuck in my house because of this I wear my new one's that I haven't been outside in yet so I can get around and I'm on my feet all the time and I have no rubbing etc. that some complain of. I've been wearing Vans for 40 years now, and I rarely wear anything else. I've knocked a star off because the sizing has been a bit hit or miss recently, I've been a UK 10 for 30-odd years and usually don't even need to try them on when I buy in-store, but these shoes are particularly tight, I know they will 'give' a bit with use, but breaking them in is quite uncomfortable. This isn't the only instance I've had, a pair of MTE boots purchased a couple of years ago had to be returned and a larger size ordered due to a very narrow toe box. I'll repeat, I rarely wear anything else, but a bit of consistency in sizing would be appreciated.
I am so disappointed. After buying a pair of SK8-Hi Wide size 11which fit great and are nice and wide, of course I had to have the Classic Slip-O Checkerboard...So dumb me, I bought the same size as the Sk8-Hi Wides. I can barely get my foot in these WITH NO SOCKS and they are definitely not as wide as the Sk8-Hi Wide. Of Course I cant wear these. Im not sure an additional half size would even do it. Certainly not wide enough.Vans should be ashamed. I feel robbed.Have a nice day!
