Purchased a couple pairs of these Vans for my sons. They are a great casual shoe; comfort level is subjective to the individual. I find the sizing to be very correct, might be a slight small, but all of this depends on what brands you are normally familiar with; for instance I find Asics to run very small (needing a 12 when I use an 11) and if you are used to that brand sizing etc..Wear and Tear; I find that Vans wear out differently than standard sneakers. Their sole seem to last longer, while the glue/stitching right were your toes bend always breaks open fairly quickly. They also get dirty quickly and look ratty and hard to clean up, imo. With this specific series of Vans my sons and I were disappointed between the style variations just between color choices. ... MorePurchased a couple pairs of these Vans for my sons. The Black/White were really nice and the toe cap area was swede type material but you could hardly tell vs the canvas type material. Meanwhile the Grey version's toe area is solid shiny leather type looking material which makes for a really different look that you cannot see/tell the difference in the online pictures.

I bought in store which were discounted 20% so instead of £65 they were £52. On day one of wearing them one shoe split on the ankle collar so returned to change them but they didn’t have my size. The store could not order me my size and said they would issue me a refund and said I could re order on their website. So re ordered on website but no discounts and a £4.99 fee to get them sent to the store costing me £70. Not good customer service. The new ones have been fine and the look great. Vans always come up bigger as I am a 10.5 or 11 usually but size 10 fits perfectly like all my other vans.

Canvas & suede VANs

Bought these in the sale for less than thirty pounds in baby blue colour. Price was competitive, but wouldn't pay full price for these trainers. They will likely last less than 1 year like all other Vans trainers, the inside foam will give way then the soles will detach from the top before wearing out fully. The suede makes them a bit stronger than a canvas only top.

Great classic Vans- never disappoints!
25 July 2024

These Vans are the best of the best. They are as stylish as they are comfortable. My son cannot live without them so once his old pair is looking a little distressed, he buys a new pair. He says these Vans are his go to pair for an everyday wear regardless of where he’s going or what he’s doing. It’s even better when you get them on salad at DSW!

Mixed feelings
16 December 2020

Hmm, so I only own Vans. Love them, and how they look on my feet. I have had the Old School for a really long time now, and it was just time to buy some new ones. I'm not a big fan of buying new shoes because they always take some time to adjust to my feet. And it has now been a month, and they still haven't adjusted? They are super tight to get into, and just to loosen the laces is a task itself. It is a very nice design, and I hope that my struggles are just a sign of good quality...One thing though... and think about this, they. sole. is. leather..... So if your feet are even a bit sweaty... they squeak........ Can sometimes be pretty embarrassing when you are walking in a quiet hallway in school or at work. Also, they shoes fit my feet perfectly, but for some ... MoreHmm, so I only own Vans. Sometime overdoing quality isn't always the best. Or maybe some slip ons, would have a lace problem there.

Not as good as the Skate Pro versions
28 October 2021

I've been wearing the skate pro model of this shoe for quite a few years now, and this was my first return to the Original Old Skool shoes. These shoes lack the comford of the Skate Pro model, which has Pop/Comfy Cush insoles. These are flat, hard and your foot will sit lower in the shoe, closer to the ground and therefore going to take more impact. Might be preferable for those wanting to feel a skateboard more under their feet, but not going to be great for walking around all day. I'll be ging back to the Skate Pro model, even if there is less colourway choices. Also, what is up with Vans using YODEL - 9 days delivery time from order is simply unacceptable (this is not 2005). Vans really needs to get with the times and start using DPD. For this reason alone will never order directly from Vans again.

Should Have Trusted The Sizing Guide
29 May 2022

I wasn’t sure about sizing since I previously owned Vans Authentic and had to go a half size down. I wear a women’s 7.5 in almost all my shoes, (ie Converse Chucks) but occasionally I need to go down to a 7, which I did for my Vans Authentic since 7.5 was too loose. I read many reviews for the Old Skool and some said size up, some size down, others true to size. Since it was pretty confusing I decided to just go with what I got before in Vans and got a size 7 women’s. While the 7 does fit, they are a bit tight and uncomfortable. My toes have zero wiggle room, which is a most for me, as I hate my foot feeling cramped. I’ll be returning for a 7.5 since I love the shoes otherwise!

The only shoe my son wears
6 March 2024

I have bought these checkerboard vans at least 6xs in the past 2 years because my son's feet keep growing. He loves these shoes and requests that I buy the same style each time. They look good with his school uniform and with the sweats and shorts he wears on the weekends. Love that these don't cost over $100 and last until his foot grows out of them.
