He can easily put them on and take them off. I purchased a pair for my son in blue colour. The shoes seem to run big, but he will grow into them soon enough. The velcro closure is very convenient.

I thought that these would be too much for my 4y.o pre-schooler but these are now his favorite shoes. They are a teeny bit heavy but he's 3'9 so its not an issue for him. He can easily put them on and take them off. My son loves his little Vans . Although he’s no so little anymore! He’s been wearing his Old Skool Vans since he was a toddler, whenever we enter the shoe shop he makes a b-line straight to these shoes.
Our son is at the the transition point of toddler shoes and kids sizing. We had to order a few to find the exact fit but what we like was the half sizing in the shoe allowed to find a fit that was just right. He also finds them comfortable.
I always buy Vans for my son. When I found them on sale at David Jones I grabbed 2 pairs as they were such a great price. Postage was quick too.
Great sturdy shoe for an extremely active boy. He had a pair of ASICS that wore out within a month but these just keep going! Great fit great sizing
Vans are such a staple in kids shoe wear. They are comfortable, versatile and look great with just about any outfit. I love the slip on and velcro versions for my kids when they're younger. They can put them on themselves and in a timely manner! I have 5 year old twins, one is bigger than the other and maybe a half size or so difference in shoe size and because of the velcro, both can easily wear these.
Lovely little pumps and a fair price, ordered half a size up (2.5) and even though my son is a size 2, they were way too tight.If your child has very narrow skin feet, then they may be fine, but anything other and they just won’t be able to get them on, even with the Velcro which should allow them to go a bit wider, the structure of the shore means they’re just too tight. A real shame as they look lovely and I have the adults version and they’re really roomy
I absolutely love that Vans is offering Velcro kicks for big kids and adults {not just toddlers}. My nephews are always on the go, and laces trip them up {literally and figuratively}, so I immediately purchased these. The Velcro closure expedites the get ready process, and gives my nephews a sense of accomplishment at being able to get their shoes on and off by themselves; while the offered colors literally go with everything in their wardrobe. I did find that these run maybe a half size smaller than their other sneakers; however, I purchased multiple sizes for that very reason, so it wasn't a problem. I will definitely continue to purchase this style as they continue to grow!
