Everyday use + BMX. I've only bought Vans shoes for several years and have had consistently good experiences. This model of the color combination is really the last garbage. After two weeks, the heel collar of one shoe tore when I slipped it on. I didn't look too bad because this has never happened to me before with any other shoe. Now, after 4 months on the left and 6 months on the right, the soles are simply coming loose on both sides. I have now tried to glue them again but of course they don't stick perfectly, which is a real shame as these are some of the best shoes for riding so far. I can only agree with the other reviews.

Went looking for a pair of Half Cabs for my son. The guy at the store could have sold us the more expensive non-pro model as they didn't have any pros in the right size, but organised for us to be shipped the pro pair my son was after in the right size that was also on sale. Arrived a couple of days later at my door and my son is stoked!

Very durable and the design is simple and attractive. Really affective skate shoe if that's what you are looking for. If you are looking for a shoe just for fashion then this is equally worth purchasing. Probably the best looking skate shoe Vans has.

Bought these a month a go and they not as i expected for the price. They are very sturdy which makes them a little stiff and heavy to skate in so it's hard to 'feel' the board - however the sole is good quality and hasn't worn too much. Also good for high impact jumping - HOWEVER - every time i put them on i hear a little rip where the seam joins at the back and it's starting to fail - on both sides. I go through a pair of laces each time i skate - like the lace holes are too far on the sides or something. On other shoes usually my laces last a couple of months. The over all look is bulky and because of the style of the half cab your pants will sit on top of the ankle hole which is not the style i like.
First pair ever of the half cabs and I am impressed. The tongue has side straps that keep it secure and provides a super form fitting shoe. It's like putting on a pair of gloves. My feet were meant for these shoes. The pop cush insole is great, too. Much better and cushier than the old vans used to be. They just feel like a really solid pair of shoes.
I got these to wear at work and when lifting weights. I've had three pairs of Vans of various types before these and I always had trouble with blisters on the back of my heels. These don't cause that at all. They have pretty good ankle support and the shock absorption is great on concrete/pavement, plus solid traction in the rain. All in all I'm really happy.
The tongues on these shoes are very thick and tall. Not like the several other color ways I have had over the last couple years. The laces barely fit due to the tongue puffiness. They are uncomfortable due to how high the tongue sticks up above the shoe. 2 days of wearing/skating in them so far has not been and good as the other Half Cab's I have had. Really disappointed in this pair.
I have always loved vans. I’ve worn them for at least 20 years and tried many models. The Half-cab’s are a completely different creature. They were very difficult to get on due to the narrowness of the shoe and wide walls of the shoe. Also, these are pretty heavy compared to the pro-Cush. Overall I’ll wear them because they do look good after fitting them just right but I won’t be buying another pair of this model.
I've skated Half Cabs exclusively for several years now. I rotate a chill pair that becomes my skate pair when they work in. Just after I went to them a few years back, they changed them up. Not as good as the ones they'd had for years and years (now stiffer), but still workable. These new ones are SO tight I could never wear them, and they don't stretch well because Vans wanted to save a few nickels so they replaced some suede with canvas. So sad. You ruined my forever shoe.Way to go Vans, you "fixed" something that wasn't broken, twice, and the second time made it literally impossible for me to continue wearing them. Way, WAY too narrow.
I couldn't exchange for the next available size. The pop cush insole is massive! If the next size happens to be longer but with the same narrow dimensions... Id consider a different model entirely.I have a handful of different vans and I felt a problem immediately after getting the new pair on.
