Classic old school with better features.

Hey I'm Jay and I've been skating Vans for a few years now. I generally go through shoes quite quick with casual skating. I like the fit of Vans and the features that come in the skate series. These shoes fit a little wide when compared to Nikes or NBnumerics but still are a classic. Overall the look and feel great.I used these shoes for skating here in the Netherlands and I'm generally pretty happy. I usually skate on the Kyle Walker pros and had a previous bad experience with some old schools due to their durability, but these new old school skate versions how met all my expectations. Other than that, they're a solid skate shoe and it is definitely worth it to go for the added perks of the skate series than just the classic series.Great shoes to skate in, durable and comfy. Maybe they're a little wide so watch out if you have really narrow feet.

Classic, Stylish and functional.

Skateboarder for over 12 years mostly skate the bowls and the vert ramps, but never dirty to ride anything else skating is skating ! The classic old skool vans shoe is a style icon, but also such a comfy shoe while you're riding.Classic Old skool is a super nice an comfy shoe to shred in. Only thing that is not really durable of this shoe is that the insole isn't super powerful, so that means i personally would't reckon the skate big set of stairs with it. Outside of that the stitching is staying whole for a long time and the top of your toe doesn't rip as fast as the normal old skools.Great shoe overall ! Especially if you have a little wider feet than general. stylish and iconic can't go wrong with that !

Great shoe, but go a size up

Comfortable and stable, I use them for longboarding so lots of foot braking, which isn't having much of an impact on the sole yet - but it's early days. There only issue is the sizing; I'm a size 12 and measured my feet as directed on the website. It actually said I was 11 but I went ahead and got 12s. On arrival they were incredibly tight and barely wearable. I removed the pop cush insoles (which are super soft but enormous) replaced them with some simple flat ones and all is now good. I'd suggest going a size up, unless you're already at 12, in which case you may need new insoles.

I love Vans but these are ridiculously painful
27 November 2022

Vans are pretty much the only shoes I wear aside from sandals and boots occasionally. I know that Vans can be pretty uncomfortable shoes but these are the most uncomfortable shoes I've worn in my entire life counting the time I wore heals for 6 hours straight and I could barely walk after. I wore these shoes for two hours at my college classes and walked for maybe 15 minutes and had cuts all over the back of my ankles. These shoes are the perfect fit they aren't snug and I've been wearing vans for almost 10 years but these shoes are ridiculously painful. I have to wear bandages on the backs of my ankles anytime I want to wear these. I love Vans but shoes make for skating shouldn't cut your feet walking around I can't imagine how bad they would hurt if I skated in ... MoreVans are pretty much the only shoes I wear aside from sandals and boots occasionally. I need like 2 if these.
13 August 2024

By far my COMFIEST pair of shoes, it was a shoe that was out of my comfort zone because of the color way. But then as I walked around the store it slowly started to grow on me, I ended up buying them and I don't regret it at all. They look really good with Khaki pants preferably some dickies classics. They're my favorite pair and I hate that they're always sold out. I only use my one pair on special occasions. They'll fit true to size very nicely.

I was looking for another style that Van no longer has and saw these - the right color. I actually think these are better fit. They're beautiful. I haven't worn them too much so I'm assuming I'm still breaking them in. They feel stiff - for now. With time they'll soften. it's the perfect size. I also have another pair so it wasn't difficult to pick the size. these have more padding which I like and more structure which is probably why they feel stiffer.

Nice shoe.

I like the look and color combination of the shoe. When I first tried it on, it felt a little tight in width. Maybe a size up would have been better. But after 3rd time on, fit was good. I'm sure it will stretch out as I wear it.

Solid Skate Shoes
22 October 2023

Vans are always dependable skate shoes. I bought these for my kid who rips though other shoes in a matter of weeks and these have held up for a couple months of 2-3x/ week skate sessions...so far so good! Oh and they look great too...my 11 year old wears them as daily drivers as well as skate shoes.

Style *AND* Comfort??? Tell me more....
16 May 2023

I find these to be the perfect balance between comfort and iconic old Skool style! The "Skate" in the name means that these have the better, updated foot-bed that the vans of yesteryear was missing, that gives your hurting feet a break! I happen to have these on my feet right now!

These are not the same as the Old Skool Pros
29 June 2021

OK, so I bought these thinking just the name was changed from "Pro" to "Skate" for marketing reasons. Well, not really. These aren't as good as the Pros. They do an OK impression of them, but they are not nearly as comfortable - much stiffer. As others have mentioned, Vans should not have replaced the Old Skool Pros with something different - if they wanted to change something, just add a new line. I loved the old Pro line shoes. Wore through 5+ pairs over the last decade. These aren't the same. I mean, for a product called "Old Skool" it sure seems like they should never change it. It should be the same dang product forever.
