I skate flat/curbs/flatbars. My foot is size 9, I weigh 70 kg and I am 180 cm tall. I usually prefer cupsole skateshoes but I ended up with the Vans Sk8-Hi's because of the protection over the ankle. This shoe is true to size, maybe a tad bigger than some of my 27 cm shoes. It is also not a narrow shoe like New Balances or Nikes. This shoe is great for skating, but in my opinion not the best shoe to walk on as I found some marginal heel lift even with so many laces. However these break in fast, the shoe is light for such a durable and even with a "fat" vulcanized outsole. I would prefer the pro version for skating every time. I think for my foot this shoe has not the optimal feel on the heel so I recommend that you try these at a shop if you haven't already. This ... MoreI skate flat/curbs/flatbars. Even with the pop cush insole the feel is awesome. The Hi-top model needs some getting used to but is no dealbreaker for me as that was what I wanted. They have such a good view from above and over all. For this shoe I would have preferred it to have some topping in the heels to prevent heel lift, but that is all I can complain. It has some canvas for breathability in the middle which is nice for the summer. For me, this is a rather basic skate shoe with good durability on because of suede and a thick vulcanized outsole. I recommend these for you if you already like Vans skate shoes and want to go for something extra with the Hi's.

Excellent pair of shoes. I'm not a skateboarder. I'm new to VANS. Sized true. My only suggestion is to have 72inch shoelaces rather than 64in shoelaces that came with the shoes. This is a 9-eyelet pair so it's more appropriate to have 72in. Buyer, make sure to have 72in shoelaces ready when you buy this pair. You will come up short with 64in shoelaces. Overall, this pair of VANS is now my official go around shoes. Highly recommended. Get a pair!

I'll be honest, if I was still in my prime, I wouldn't skate these shoes. They are stiff, the soles are thick, ankle mobility is compromised, they are heavy, and get hot in the sun. With that said, the reasons I wouldn't skate them in my prime are the reasons I love them now. They are stiff and support my ankles. The added height and extra padding of the upper adds more protection to the ankles. The cushion in the sole keeps my heels from getting bruised. These are great shoes for carving around a bowl on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

This is my second pair of Skate Sk8-Hi shoes. They are a big step up in terms of quality from the standard SK8-HI's. True to size and they hug your feet nice and securely. Would definitely recommend.
These have really gone downhill sadly. I've been wearing pros for about 15 years and have loved every pair I've ever owned. I bought these and was totally let down... the suede feels like sand paper and is so thin, the tongue tie downs make the shoe near impossible for us big footed guys to get the shoe on easily, the shiny fox tape is a real turn off and the checkered tag makes the shoe look like a cheap bootleg. Why vans? I could live with the shoe going from all suede to half suede half canvas but this new "skate" sk8-hi is shadow of its former self. I had to go to another site that sells everything to find a pair of pros from yesteryear so that I didn't have to settle for the skate sk8 hi. I'm really heartbroken by this, it's definitely an end of an era. Sad sad ... MoreThese have really gone downhill sadly. I am a huge fan and lover of vans have probably close to 25 pairs. But due to VANS using FED EX as their carrier, and multiple issues, I won't order again directly from Vans ever again, not unless they change their delivery carrier. As there are far superior carriers out there that still remember that without the people they deliver for they would have no business.
I,v been wearing Vans for 25 years or more now. I,m an old longboard surfer and skater and have always found Vans hard-wearing, comfy and reliable. The New features add quality to an already outstanding Skateboard Shoe.I will most likely always wear The Sk8 High as they are my favourite Vans design and would definitely recommend them.Well done Vans.
I saw these on sale and was surprised because I thought they looked really nice. Ordered them and they took a little while to come but they did arrive and I'm very pleased with them. The colour wave looks great in person, they feel pretty well-built and hard-wearing. Also as someone with shorter/wider feet, I found that true-to-size worked pretty well for me.
Based on previous Vans purchases, these are more comfortable than expected. People are always asking where I got these shoes. Overall happy with my purchase
I've worn Vans for forty years and usually have at least a couple of pairs in different colors for different looks. When I needed a fresh pair of slip-on's I tried the Skate version and was so happy that I picked up the Skate Sk8 Hi in the classic blue and navy colorway. The Sk8 Hi fits me very well, and the Skate version did not disappoint. I like the more robust shoe, and it required no break-in to be comfortable. The laces are a bit short and I cannot use the upper lace hole, which is fine because I wear the casually. I was worried the tongue elastic might be uncomfortable, but it isn't in the least, and I like how it keeps everything in place. The Skate Sk8 Hi worked so well for me I ordered a second pair in a different color!
