After having a Bissell shampooer for many years ..and loving it ..when it needed replacing I bought this Vax !!! What a disappointment!! Setting it up ..easy ..using..easy ..cleaning the brush ..Omg.what a nightmare..you need to unscrew 5 screws ..remove panels and remove the belt !! I have arthritis and it took me forever to undo all the screws..but now it's sitting on the bench in bits !!! U can't put it back together !! With the Bissell you just had to push the clips and out it popped !! Will be seeking a refund and buy another Bissell ..

Purchased Vax Compact Power Carpet Shampooer to clean the carpets in our rental property. Our carpets are dark blue so it's hard to tell just how dirty they really are. Well, the answer is apparently VERY. Quite horrified to see just how much dirt and grime was really stuck in there but luckily Vax got it all out. Even the room that we had cleaned not that long ago by what we though was a reputable company came up just as dirty as the others! The Shampooer was easy to set up and a breeze to use - doesn't take long at all to get a deep clean. Overall very satisfied with purchase and would recommend this product to anyone with carpeted rooms in their home - especially for those with allergies or asthma in the family :) No need to hire 'professional' cleaners ever again!

I like the overall performance of the Vax VX97. Easy to fill with water and solution to the lines marked on the clean water tank attachment. Advise definitely wearing good quality ear muffs as machine is extremely noisy. Impossible to hear phone when using or others speaking. Gets carpets really clean. Only drawback, in my case, is that the covers holding the brushes need to be to be cleaned after two clean tank uses and that requires 7 screws being removed to clean the brushes and it is quite difficult to clean parts of this area. The dirty water tank is hard to empty completely and therefore leaves some grit and dirt behind. I would still purchase it again.
Simple to put together. Easy instructions and did an AMAZING job. We cleaned carpet and rugs. I actually enjoyed cleaning and just wanted to keep going! We saw instant results but sadly ran out of stuff to clean 🤣. And so well priced, i was sceptical because this is the first time I could afford to purchase one with good reviews. Amazing. Last time I used a Vax carpet cleaner it was the orange & black barrel cleaner thingy about 20 years ago. This is so good but seriously it needs way bigger dispensing and collection tanks. I’m still not sure. The unit is easy to use and lightweight. It removed several stains immediately from carpet - however… compared to other carpet shampooing units I have used, it does leave the carpet extremely wet and as a result the carpet ends up smelling quite rank afterwards as it takes days to dry. I’m on day 5 since I used it. I have a heater going in the room and the carpet still smells rank and is damp.
I bought this carpet shampooer as we have dogs and the carpet has quite a few stains. Carpet is also pretty old. Once I got the hang of how to use it and for the carpet to dry (about 2 days), the carpet looked pretty good. Not all the stains and marks came out but it does look cleaner and is worth it. A downside is how to clean the machine, you have to remove 6 screws, pull it all apart and take out the roller but even then you can’t get to all the hair and dirt off the machine. Also the dirty water tank doesn’t have the best plug hole to allow for cleaning. Bound to have some residual dirt and hair remain in the tank. Overall, carpet is better for the clean but more effort than I thought it would be. The dirty marks on the carpet which was ordinary day to day wear were still there after being shampooed as per the instructions, they looked even bigger than when started as if the dirt had been spread out over a larger area. Everything in the preparation before starting was as per the instructions in fact I even checked the temperature of the water with a thermostat. After the shampoo I had to clean out of the filters and on and around the brush only what I could call carpet material in a soggy mass that I squeezed up into an egg shaped ball..Very disappointed after having used a Vax vacuum cleaner/carpet cleaner with good ... Morethe whole experience was unsatisfactory.
