Macro Organic... But!!! Thank-you Woolworths for the opportunity to sample this product. I always enjoy receiving these through Bunch, especially when it is a Macro Organic product. I have previously used Rice Malt Syrup (the Pureharvest brand) in my healthy baking. However, as this product was imported, not Australian I stopped using it. I much prefer to use an Australian honey, rather than an imported product, although the flavour between the two is not quite the same. Upon receiving this product the first thing to check was the country of origin. I found it strange that it read that it was a product of Pakistan that had been packed in Sri Lanka, before finally ending up on Australian Woolies shelves. This was the opportunity for the Macro Brand to shine, and use a local product, in which I would not mind paying more for. Australia grows its own rice, and would be more than capable of producing this product. There are currently some Australian Rice Malt Syrup available online from boutique stores, but its availability is difficult at times. In terms of taste I found it to be of equal quality to the Pureharvest brand. I will be using this product for my Healthy Seed Brittle, and I my Orange and Polenta Cake. The fact that is it packed in a handy squeeze bottle makes it easy for using. I hope Woolies can consider using a local product in the future, rather than one that has clocked up more food miles than I have on my passport!

Light sugary syrup. Taste is milder compared to honey and maple syrup not as sweet. Good to use as a slight sweetener alternative without weird aspartame aftertaste in drinks and cooking. Much prefer this convenient squeezy bottle than the glass jars from other brands. Not keen that it is an imported product made and packed overseas.

Great taste but more calories than sugar!!! Produced in Pakistan and packed in Sri Lanka This is said to be an organic sugar substitute but it contains slightly more calories than sugar and not as sweet!!! I usually use home stewed apples or pears to sweeten my rhubarb, but thought I would try a combination of Natvia sweetener and a small amount of this and try it out. I only used 90ml of this to sweeten two big bunches of rhubarb and used 3 tsps of Natvia ( I usually don’t like any sweetener as find it gives an artificial aftertaste)However with the combination of the both of them it was actually very pleasant and worked well. The suggested serving size is 15ml and as I was doing 12 serves this equates to 7. 5ml per serve or approximately 35 calories for each ... MoreGreat taste but more calories than sugar!!! I think this would be nice served on hot cakes or pancakes drizzled over icecream and fruit or atop of banana fritters. As a sugar alternative it does not make much sense to me as real sugar has slightly less calories at 59 calories per 15g. Although much of a muchness sugar is soooo much cheaper and raw sugar could be used for a very similar result at an eighth of the price!!!I took off a star ⭐️ for being both produced and packaged overseas and even though I appreciated the opportunity to try, I would not repurchase this as plenty of other options !! Being on my healthy eating plan I would much prefer using fruit to sweeten my dishes!!!Yes this has b group vitamins and has a slow release of maltose into the blood stream taking about 90 minutes to digest. It is much more subtle in taste than golden syrup, honey, maple syrup, treacle etcTy for the opportunity to try this Macro Product!!!Appreciate your great support and wonderful comments Tytytyty your friend always Chef ‍ Penny Xxxxooooxxxx ‍‍‍‍

Very happy with this product! I haven't used rice malt in forever and honestly am very happy with this product. This is part of the 'Macro' range so I knew immediately that it would be found in the health aisle. The label is clean and simple yet consists of all the information we need. The rice malt comes in a squeezy bottle, which is super easy to use. The opening of bottle works really well in that it's easy to control and also keeps the bottle clean. I used the rice malt to make nut bars. They turned out really well and complemented the nuts! The malt isn't too sweet. No added sugar. You can tell that the product is quite authentic because I have had mine for a while now and the consistency remains the same. There is no crystallisation happening, which I sometimes see in other rice malt. I'm quite surprised that it's 2 health stars only. Makes me wonder large consumption of this is bad for health?? Unlike honey... It is made in Pakistan but so are a lot of other rice malt. I thought the pricing was quite reasonable. Will consider repurchasing this product.

Worked well. Wasn’t sure how I was going to use this product so I did a search online & found a nut/seed bar that appealed to me where the rice malt syrup acted as the sole binder for the ingredients. When measuring out the amount required, I tasted the rice malt syrup to find that it reminded me of golden syrup though a lot lighter in flavour. It is also similar in consistency. Since making the nut/seed bar I have found I have really had to discipline myself not to keep eating it so I reckon I can say that the rice malt syrup worked well for this recipe. Next I think I will try it as a replacement for golden syrup in anzac or similar biscuits as it has a lower sugar content ( approx. one third less) than golden syrup & a lot less sodium too. This product is certified organic, suitable for vegans & is gluten free but still has a high sugar content though lower than in honey & golden syrup. I do like the squeeze bottle this syrup comes in as makes it easy to measure quantity without being a messy task. The only cons I find with this product is that it is neither produced or packed in Australia. We do grow rice in Australia, so why not make our own rice malt syrup?

Sweet Rice Malt Syrup. I'm a big fan of rice malt syrup as an alternative to sugar in various recipes and normally buy the Pure Harvest version that is 500g, $3. 80 full retail, and tastes really malty which I love. The Macro version does not have the strong malt flavour, which makes it taste somewhat sweeter. The Macro is definitly lighter and more golden in colour (which is highlighted on the label). Both are certififed organic. Macro retails at $4 for 500g so slightly more expensive than the Pure Harvest option. Both are products of Pakistan (Pure Harvest is packed in Australia while the Macro is packed in Sri Lanka). Nutrition information panels are virtually identical. Love The Product, Shame It Is Imported. This product was easy to find in the Macro - Health Foods Dept of the WW Supermarket. The clear plastic packaging allows the contents to be viewed with a large sticker on the front and back with a no fuss design which includes the product name and content details. The container is easy to use with a flip-top lid and a squeezable bottle. The container is recyclable in the curbside recycle bin but I believe the lid is not. This product has a mild flavour and a golden colour and it is a good substitute for sugar. It has a lower fructose content than sugar, honey and maple syrup and therefore better for people who have issues eating sugars. Can be used everywhere sugar or sweet syrups are used. This product does not have any Artificial Flavours, Colours or Preservatives and is Certified Organic. Considering that it is an Imported Product, Macro is the only Brand I would trust with very strict food standards to be maintained overseas. It has a 2 Health Star Rating and that is expected for a sugar substitute such as this. The price point of $4. 00 for 500ml is very reasonable for a Certified Organic product. This product is 100% Imported being produced in Pakistan and packaged in Sri Lanka. There's so much to like about this product BUT it isn't Australian so this product gets 4 Stars for its flavour, quality and versatility. However, it loses 1 Star for not being in any way Australian. Thank you WW for this sample. I used to use another brand but now I buy and use this product.

Understanding your product.... hmmm = RMS. This is a grain byproduct. This is not vegan honey. Totally different to honey that bee pollinators create. Honey contains vitamins and minerals and other constituencies. Maple syrup is a sap or resin produced from trees. Also holding health properties. Great Alternative. I have never used rice malt before. I had to do a bit of research before deciding what to make with this. I went with some oat cookies and banana bread. Both turned out amazing. Not that gluten is an issue for me, but it is nice to note that this is gluten free. I had an incredibly hard time finding this product. I looked with the maple syrup and other ice cream toppings, the dedicated macro health food section, the sugar section in the baking aisle. In the end it was with the honey at my store (which seems the wrong place for this?). Great flavour and texture, easy to cook with and a good price. I would buy this in future.

A SYRUP WITH A DIFFERENCE. When ‘Bunch’ sent me the next item for testing, I did not know what to expect, as this was an item unknown to me and the first thing that came to mine was malaise's, so I questioned the taste or its use. My second thoughts were, ‘Maybe it is along the lines of honey?’ as it does have the same consistency, colour, and appearance. One thing that really impressed me was the design of the bottle and the ease in which it could be used, namely soft and comfortable material that was ideal to hold and squeeze comfortably. So, now it was time to give it my taste test. My findings: This syrup has a slight hint of bitterness, whilst at the same time a very enjoyable mellow taste with a difference. It is not too sweet or too bitter and is a perfect sweetener that can be used with or on a variety of foods or even in drinks. It also has the added benefits of being Gluten-Free, Certified Organic, and ideal for anyone following a vegan diet. My first try was with porridge in the morning and it really gave it a delightful taste. I also used it for blending into my beverage recipe of ‘Lemon & Ginger’, which I take daily, to enhance the flavour. Not too bad on pikelets although I do prefer to use maple syrup. While it has many uses, I unfortunately would not purchase, as I prefer to use honey or maple syrup.
