The absolute best sticks I've ever used. I have been using 5B drumsticks for decades. I always wished that they were just a little bit longer, and now that they are I'm in total bliss. My drum set goes all the way around me, and reaching the toms to my right has always been difficult due to lack of leverage. Now I have the leverage I need in these drum sticks! Thank you, Vic Firth for these sticks! I finally have the ultimate drumstick!

I've been using the Vic Firth X5B sticks for years, after previously using the regular 5A and 5B. The added length gives me more options on how to hold the stick (I can choke up for lighter playing), and I don't hit very hard, so these sticks give me a more powerful sound with each hit.My only complaint is sometimes the wood tips chip prematurely. It's not often enough to be a problem, and the size/weight of these sticks is perfect for me otherwise.

I actually bought these sticks when I first started playing the drums a few months back. They have been great and I am going to continue to use these through out my drumming career. They do have a little noticeable length on them but I like the extra reach to get to cymbals. They are a nice weight that isn't to heavy for me and not to light. If you want a good beginner, intermediate, or advanced stick I totally recommend these!

This kit is not bad. I think that it is a decent value for the price tag. I wish the drum heads were larger and the drum stand could be 3" taller for me. I'm 6' 2" and feel like the whole kit sits a little low, but I'll get used to it. I was able to position the drum heads in an ideal tilt/angle ratio to where I can make it around the kit without smacking into the large drum rims. The kick drum trigger is just a hair small for a double peddle. Every once and awhile, the bass drum misses a left leg drum kick because of it. I have slid the kick peddle over to the right almost off of the peddle clamp to try and fix this and I turned the sensitivity on the kick all the way up to 16 and it is still an issue.I wish that the kick drum could be turned up louder too, the ... I'm not disappointed, though. I bought this set so I can learn a bunch of tunes and then play live on my acoustic kit. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a kit that would never see the outdoors.
I play a large kit...14 cymbals, and the extra reach these sticks provide is handy in my case.Wonderfully finished...smooth but not slippery, well balanced and consistent with both sticks, strong straight grained, but be mindful that although the increased length makes reaching for distant cymbals a breeze, it also means a higher contact point on the snare head unless you compensate in some way...choke up, sit further back, etc. These did what I needed them to do, and so for my needs they're excellent.
This sticks are what I've been looking for. Extremely durable and feel really good on my hand. If you guys need some thick durable sticks. I definitely recommend these Vic Firth 5B's
I use these sticks all the time. For the most part they are durable and do what they are supposed to. Lately I've come across several sticks that break easily and are much lighter than what I'm used to. Probably the difference in the density of the tree used. They are matched together when you buy them. The problem is when you break a stick and have to mix up the matched set. Some sticks are much heavier or lighter than another.
I am using the Extreme 5b Vic Firth sticks for many reasons: Quality of the wood. Density of the wood. Very reliable sticks. Always matching pairs. Quality of the varnish. Perfect size and weight for me to play any style, loud or soft music. I also pike the shape of the tip and bottom. After 57 years of playing drums, this sticks are my only choice now and it's been many many years that nothing else can match my need
The Extreme 5B is my go to because of the extra reach and amazing action. I feel these sticks improved my confidence to play harder and faster. Balance is spot on and they really take the abuse.
I am very please with the 2 sets of 5B VIC FIRTH drum sticks. I recently had a chance to play again and got excited about returning to basics, to rudiments, tempo - I also got a Korg KDM-3 metronome (fantastic). The somewhat longer, heavier sticks, I hope, will act to strengthen my wrists. I can then move to lighter sticks and play with greater precision and force, if needed.Wish me luck!ChristopherOkinawa, Japan
