I get two sinus infections a year ordinarily and maybe a head cold or two. I got this recently, hoping that it would alleviate at least some nasal congestion. For someone with serious nasal congestion that comes with a head cold or sinus infection, the use of this machine is unimpressive and only slightly effective. It's cute and may work adequately for someone with light congestion from allergies (I get that, too) but it's a lightweight when it comes to the tough jobs. I don't like the top part. The way it's designed, you might think it is shaped so you can put your face up close to it but if you do, you will get burned by hot steam and you have to move around to find a good spot that provides enough steam but not too much. Another issue is that the reservoir is tiny and only puts out about ten minutes worth of steam, if that much when it's set for full output which is the only setting worth using. I have received much better results by leaning over the sink with hot water running and a towel over my head. It appears to be well made and like I said, it is cute but it needs a bigger water reservoir and a redesigned top to make the steam go where you want it to go.

I've only used it a few times so far, and I intended it to relieve my sinus headaches in lieu of using a microwaved wet towel (which requires reheating every two minutes or so).I haven't noticed any spitting, and, if I keep the steam adjuster turned all the way down, I can keep my face on the unit mostly without discomfort.I can imagine a few improvements:* It doesn't work as well as a hot wet towel, probably because it doesn't provide heat to my forehead. I'm thinking about buying one of those heated masks (I think I've seen them) that are shaped to cover your forehead and eyes--maybe I'll just try a heating pad at first.* The only (safe) way to use the unit is leaning over (while sitting or standing) to put your face (gently) on the unit while the unit is ... MoreI've only used it a few times so far, and I intended it to relieve my sinus headaches in lieu of using a microwaved wet towel (which requires reheating every two minutes or so).I haven't noticed any spitting, and, if I keep the steam adjuster turned all the way down, I can keep my face on the unit mostly without discomfort.I can imagine a few improvements:* It doesn't work as well as a hot wet towel, probably because it doesn't provide heat to my forehead. It would be nice to have something more portable, maybe a separate steam creating unit with a hose to a separate nose mask. Ideally even a semi-sealed steam unit that you could hang around your neck while you work at your desk. I can imagine, though, that without good design, the steam would cool too much between the unit and your face. (I have seen a unit for something like $100 more that is closer to a design like this, labeled as something like "for hospital use")* I haven't timed how long it produces steam, it may be on the order of 10 to 15 minutes, but I had to refill it on the order of 8 times to get the relief I needed, so a bigger reservoir would be nice. Of course, that would be more hot water to spill and possibly cause a burn if an accident happened--maybe there is a way to add a cold water reservoir that can automatically or semi-automatically add water to the heating unit as needed.

I ordered this because I have issues with my sinuses and proper drainage, having serious allergies on top of this doesn't exactly help.I got this one week when I could tolerate having both ears "clogged " no longer, I had tried everything else I could. I need surgery to replace my ear tubes and fix this issue but I've delayed it, I was so clogged I could barely hear.Setup was very simple, pour water in, wait 30 seconds and steam is produced, very fast. The soft plastic piece you rest your face on is surprisingly comfortable, there are no sharp edges and it comfortably holds your face. Sounds silly to say but the steam is very hot, so hot in fact I couldn't rest my face on the actual rest too long, it would burn your face. However, leaving a bit of space allows it ... MoreI ordered this because I have issues with my sinuses and proper drainage, having serious allergies on top of this doesn't exactly help.I got this one week when I could tolerate having both ears "clogged " no longer, I had tried everything else I could. However, leaving a bit of space allows it to do what you need it. I have used this multiple times with a towel wrapped around my head to capture all the steam possible and in roughly 5 minutes, I can actually start to feel progress, it seriously made a difference.I was even more impressed when I used the included menthol strip, HOLY MENTHOL! you have never experienced a mint overload like this in your life. It is so strong it actually burns your eyes at first, again leaving some space and moving ever so slightly over does the trick. This menthol not only worked incredibly but quickly and efficiently, it kept on working long after I was done and made such a difference, I felt it throughout my sinuses. The steam doesn't last too long, maybe 10 minutes but I probably used it longer then recommended anyway.Overall it's easy to use, works efficiently to clear congestion and is made well, it's solid and even after many uses, works perfectly as it should.I highly recommend this product and I feel it's a must have for every household.

I loved it. It worked great! It helped my rhinitis due to a deviated septum.Until the plastic tabs that held the top portion to the base started cracking and breaking off.I've bought this in March, it is now November. Still under warranty, right? Yes, it is. I've sent photos of the broken tabs. The plastic became brittle over the months for some reason, so I contacted Kaz, who is the parent company of this Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler. They were polite--mostly because the emails were from a pre-written script. I've sent them all my information: address, photos, copy of receipt, date code that's stamped on the plug of the unit. Then they want me to send it in so they can send me a replacement. So this item was close to $30 but not quite $30 when I bought it. The ... MoreI loved it. It worked great! Then they want me to send it in so they can send me a replacement. So this item was close to $30 but not quite $30 when I bought it. The shipping would have cost me approximately $15 to ship it to Vicks (Kaz) for a replacement. So why should I pay for shipping a defective item to the manufacturer that would cost more than half the price of the unit? I shouldn't be paying for shipping the defective item back to the manufacturer due to a manufacturer's defect.Kaz customer rep told me it's the standard warranty procedure many other major companies use. I've written back to them telling them over the last 20 years, Bionaire/Sunbeam, Oxo, Vornado, Simplehuman, and Waterpik have never told me to pay for shipping a defective unit back to them. If I dropped the unit and broke it, that's my fault. This is a manufacturer's defect (not my fault) and they want me to pay for shipping the unit to them.So before you buy any of the Kaz's line of products, just hope that you will never have to send your unit in because of a manufacturer's defect. Their warranty is inferior to other great companies. They lack the integrity other major companies possess.
Vick’s - Personal Steam Inhaler is the best thing ever to help clear mucus from the nasal and throat passages so you can breathe better and get relief from coughing. I’m thrilled to have a device like this. With everything blooming right now it has my allergies kicked in overdrive but I’m happy to say with this personal steam inhaler I’m breathing better and clearer. It only takes a couple of minutes to get it set up for a 5-15 minute treatment depending on how congested you are and there’s steam control settings for adjusting the vapor. This is the perfect solution for any adult suffering from the common cold, flu, sinusitis, bronchitis, etc. It comes with one Vick’s Vapopad and from my experience you definitely will want to have the vapopads for quicker and longer ... MoreVick’s - Personal Steam Inhaler is the best thing ever to help clear mucus from the nasal and throat passages so you can breathe better and get relief from coughing. Vicks Personal steam inhaler is the best, works best for instant relief from blocked sinuses. A steam inhaler is must to clearing up stuffy nose or sinuses without using harsh medications. My mom always uses it when I was sick as a first treatment along with good night sleep, now I use for my own kids. The treatment can be used for 5 -15 minutes and comes with sample soothing menthol treatment. Its must buy for winter months. I love everything Vicks makes, this is no exception. Vicks Personal steam inhaler has variable steam control. Also, It can be used to clear blackheads. Massage your face with a good moisturizer, takes a couple of minutes of steam and blackheads will shed off. Being using these trick since a teenager. Foolproof method!
I used this for the first time while suffering a spring chest cold. My symptoms were congestion in my chest and head, as well as a cough. I was becoming very miserable. I used this product with some vapor pads. I did a 10 minute treatment each time. Every time that I used this, with in a few minutes, I could feel my sinuses opening up and clearing. Within 30 minutes, my sinuses were clear, as well as my cough was surpressed.I love that this starts working quickly and that I do not have to shove medicine in my mouth. This product is ingenius and I feel secure enough to handle this winters flu now.The instructions were easy to follow and the replacement pads are easily obtainable at my local pharmacies. When I got this, I was sick with a really bad cold. I also have allergies and have athsma. This made it extremely difficult to deal with the cold. I have a cold mist humidifier but was interested in this steam inhaler. I am currently still recovering but have been using this 2 times a day. The steam has helped tremendously and the vapo- pads you can purchase to put in the inhaler helps with the efectiveness and it is easy to use. my only thing is that the steam does indeed get supr hot and will burn if you are not cautious. I used the lowest stem setting to help with my severe dry and congested chest. I also recommend you stying a good amount of distance from the inhaler. on the photo the persons face is touching. that would be a no because it gets boiling hot. ... MoreWhen I got this, I was sick with a really bad cold. I have asthma, seasonal allergies, and frequently get bronchitis and sinusitis. Right now I am dealing with the allergies as it’s spring. Before using the steam inhaler, my chest was tight, I had an unproductive cough and a sinus headache. After using the steam, my chest felt much better, I was able to (sorry tmi) cough up phlegm, and headache is gone. The set up and use of the inhaler is so simple, the water quickly heats within minutes, and the steam lasted for over 15 minutes (there was a lot more water left than I expected when I dumped it, probably would have lasted 25-30 minutes). It came with one Vicks scented pad, I put it in at first, but it was very strong (and I normally like the smell of Vicks), so I removed it and it was much more pleasant.
