We have had this fillet knife for several years and used it about 2x a year. When in the dishwasher, we always place it on the top rack, due to the length. This last time, a metal bowl was next to the handle and we lost about half the handle due to some weird reaction when the handle melted while next to the bowl.On a positive note, we ordered a personalized Chef Knife in the past year, and we absolutely love it.Personally, I think what happened with the fillet knife is that the model that we bought, #40613, was while this model was in a mfg'er transition of using a new composite that didn't work out in our case.We only own two of these knives, 1 good and 1 bad.
