First time using any drink type pre/post-workout supplement, got this in my GQ Best Stuff box. This really really, I mean really, tastes like biting into a fresh Guava. It's a bright pink colored drink after you mix in the powder, mix with semi-cold to room temp water for it to mix evenly, and then add ice if you prefer a cold drink after your workout. Each serving has 19g of protein so it's not a typical protein powder with an excess of 25g+ of protein - I honestly don't need the additional protein in my diet so I am happy this has minimal protein. I have not used this long enough to really say if I have benefited from the collagen (promotes joint and bone health) but it doesn't taste chalky, and no feeling of residue on my teeth/tongue/throat. I purchased the Watermelon Blueberry flavor with so much excitement and hope. Nut I think it's the vilest thing I've ever tasted! I mixed with water and then held my breath and gulped...and still the aftertaste was vomit-inducing. Not wanting to toss it out, I mixed just one scoop (not two) in a LARGE smoothie with bananas and blueberries. Still, the despicable taste came through and ruined the smoothie. It truly tastes like you smashed up aspirin and other pills and mixed them in plain water -- like drinking medicine. It tastes literally toxic, like something that will kill you. I just cannot fathom how anything could ever taste this bad, especially when flavors are added to improve taste. This is something you could torture criminals with to get them to talk; it's ... MoreI purchased the Watermelon Blueberry flavor with so much excitement and hope. The people here who say the taste is okay just cannot have working tastebuds. And those who think it tastes great must be wholly deranged.

My wife and I lift heavy four+ days a week and also run 5 miles 4 times a week. We've always used clean whey protein isolates & creatine for recovery without issue. When we started incorporating RECOVER after our runs our soreness, recovery timeframes, and fatigue improved dramatically. Helped improve our running recovery and helps us get over that slumped feeling you typically carry into the day after a good run. Highly reccomend. Although I've never tried Watermelon BB, the Orange/tangerine one was the BEST flavor out of all of them !!

Difference Maker

I can honestly see a difference with this and also the Pre workout drink. When you are training every week and getting older. I am 31 however I know based on science things decline. I wasn't sure about getting "workout type" supplements because I think if you have a wholistic diet you should be good- however that can be challenging daily and. most of them are full of crap anyways. I went into trying this skeptical however I really do see the benefits of this with my workouts and coupled with the pre. I see my muscles development better and also overall soreness and recovery much much better especially since all the saunas&steam rooms are closed. I was able to compare 1 month without and 1 month with so i believe I have a good gander on the product. I also attended the seminar they had which clarified what each type was for pre, post and sleep and do you need all. Well you don't it all depends on the type of person you are for me the recover is something moving forward Ill use a few times a week whereas the pre I will want it always prior to workouts it helps give me energy and sustains me. The taste is okay, it wouldn't be what I'd reach for if I had to choose one last drink but it isn't unbearable. I have it with room temp water or in a smoothie (the taste mostly disappears). I would recommend this recover powder and this flavour. Ps I dislike blueberries in general and this was fine for me.

Does NOT taste good
23 February 2022

I've used some of the other Vital Proteins products and have been really pleased with them, so when I spotted the VP Performance Recover at my local Bristol Farms I decided to give it a try.The only flavor they had available was the Guava Lime and the taste of this is really a challenge to get past. At the recommended 2 scoops the flavor is almost unbearable. I've since tried only using one scoop, which is only a slight improvement. The cost at Bristol Farms was $39.99 for a 1.7lb canister, which makes it tough to want to throw out but due to the awful taste that may be the best choice.

Flavor Changes are Disappointing
12 January 2023

I have been an avid user of the Vital Proteins Recover in the Lemon Grape flavor, and it's been a game changer in my recovery and soreness after intense workouts. Lemon Grape is a simple flavor that was honestly really good and I never tired of. However...it's been discontinued. I opted to try to the Guava Lime because I truly love the benefits of Recover, but the taste is just. so. bad. I can barely choke it down, but I don't want to waste the full canister. Please, please bring back some tame flavors - Orange, Lemon Grape, anything but what's offered now. I don't want to shop for another product because I love the Vital Proteins line & ingredients, but I just can't handle these new flavors.

It smells good

I had high hopes for this recovery powder. I use a lot of recovery powders and thought this flavor combination sounded interesting. I love grape and I love lemon. Unfortunately those flavors can be hard to nail. This isn't as bad as mixing cough syrup with lemon cleaner, but you get faint tastes of each. What I end up doing is mixing this in with orange flavored fiber powder and together that makes it much better. The powder itself dissolves well, and I really like the effects of this powder. Just not a fan of this flavor. I would recommend trying out this product, but a different flavor combination. The other options seem like they would be tasty!

Love results, hate the ridiculous current flavors
17 August 2022

I love this product so much post heavy lifting workouts and strength training. I have been rationing my Passion Fruit flavor bc around 6 months ago they introduced these 3 absolutely ridiculous flavor pairings. Like Watermelon Blueberry?? Absolutely not. So I’m super sad to have to find new products because they haven’t edited their flavors. The 3 flavors in stock are just ridiculous flavor profiles.

Love this product I wish they had more flavors
15 September 2022

This product definitely makes a difference in my recovery After a 10k run or heavy workout. Love the ingredients and how natural they are (coconut water, monkfruit…) and what I really like is the fact that it’s not too sweet really well balanced! I’ve tried other brands that are way too sweet.I didn’t give it 5 stars because I wish they had more flavors (still haven’t tried the guava one) but other than that it’s perfect. So if you’re thinking about subscribing, do it!

Taste like anything that doesn't have sugar in it.

I use this for an afternoon pick me up and post workout. The flavor is what I expect an unsweetened kool-aid would taste like. Watermelon and blueberry with a citric acid finish, it is what it is and that is healthy. I find that using a blender bottle for protein works well with this product. Shake and let rest for a minute and shake again, no clumps and all dissolved ready to drink. I feel the Niacin flush just short of finish drinking it and then start feeling more energized. This is a great alternative recovery to others that have harmful chemicals and additives and will deal with the lack of sweetened flavor for it. I have only tried the Watermelon-blueberry and I have no issues with it and would recommend it to anyone wanting and an alternative to chemical ... MoreI use this for an afternoon pick me up and post workout.
