I have been using this 48 ounce container for a little under five years and have managed to keep it in beautiful condition. I use mine at least twice very single day of the year. I have noticed some reviews for this product mention that it functions perfectly but is cloudy. Here is my method for keeping it in like new condition. #1: One second after I switch VM to off I immediately transfer the contents to a cup, bowl, glass (whatever is appropriate) #2: Within one second after transferring contents I add dish detergent to container & then fill it up with very hot water. #3: Then one second later I take a bottle brush with very soft bristles and thoroughly clean each and every section plus the bottom. Morale of the story is to immediatgely wash, rinse and dry ....this really works and keeps the container sparkling and super clean not to mention refreshing to look at!

I use my vitamix everyday but very disappointed with the plastic container. After a year or so it becomes stained and cloudy and looks just terrible. Honestly I'm ashamed to let it on my counter for others to see. Too bad it has a plastic blender jar that doesn't stay clear. And it's very expensive to replace. Also start/stop switch is broken already.

I just recently purchased a new Pro Series 750. Immediately I realized the included 2L container would provide much more capacity than needed so I purchased the .9 and 1.4L containers. The .9L container fits rather nicely on the base (inside the fingers) with just a little play as compared to the 2L. It has a quality feel to it, thick plastic, stable handle, fairly confident seal on the lid. The 48oz however has a lot of play and spins roughly 1/4" on the base when power is applied. Also, the plastic handle is thinner so it has a little play to it as well. It is designed to fit over top of the fingers on the base much like the 2L however the plastic base of the container is more a rounded square and overshoots the fingers on the motor baseI was hoping it would ... MoreI just recently purchased a new Pro Series 750. I don't understand why the 1.4L container doesn't use the same rounded corner concave square base as the 2L. For the price of the container I expect a better design.

Don't take my 4 star review as a reason to not purchase this product. It's flat out great. It's perfect for smoothies and smaller quantities of blended goods such as hummus. My beef with removing a star is that I purchased a legacy machine this summer (2020) and the rubber gasket that holds the canister in place is a smaller than this canister. I mistakenly took my hand off of the machine to grab some liquid to add (because it really needed to be added to my smoothie, it wasn't processing well) and the canister twisted on the rubber gasket and ground some gears on the drive shaft. It hasn't caused any permanent damage to either, but DO NOT TAKE YOUR HAND OFF OF THE CANISTER. It sounded horrible and all I could think about was - wow. I just wasted 500$. There was metal and rubber gasket debris left behind. Luckily, everything still works just as it is supposed to. I think that although it states it "fits" legacy machines, they should say it "works" with legacy machines; with a caveat to keep your hands on the canister to prevent spinning.
Have had my blender for 6 years. I purchased this container 1 month ago so it would fit on my base on the countertop. I do like the smaller size that is just right for our daily protein shakes. My biggest complaint is the same as many others, the container is so pretty when it is new, but quickly becomes cloudy and unsightly. In our state, we have very hard water, and if you don't dry every speck of water off immediately, it shows water spots that over time cannot be removed. I try to dry it daily, but sadly, if you are in a rush to get to work and can only rinse it and leave it to air dry, you pay the price. Also, this one has an open top handle which cannot be dried out and even if the rest is still pretty good, the handle has the water spots. I have figured out ... MoreHave had my blender for 6 years. Also, this one has an open top handle which cannot be dried out and even if the rest is still pretty good, the handle has the water spots. I have figured out how to get it dry using a spoon handle and a napkin, but honestly, who has time to go through that process daily? The other complaint is the handle feels flimsy, probably because it is hollow and open on top. It feels like over time, it might actually break with repeated uses. The larger original container has a silicone handle that has a much sturdier feel. Why make it different? Lastly, why can't the container be made with glass? I did read the website's reason that they haven't found a suitable material that meets their standards, but still can't understand why glass wouldn't work on these high power machines. My guess is that the risk of accidental breakage due to glass and the high cost of them means less people would buy them. Maybe a silicone/glass mixture could be created? I wish I was that smart...
I got this for my wife who is a Vitamix fan. I will never use it for the reasons which follow. This carafe is a well made replacement for existing Vitamix blenders. But, it is not dishwasher safe, the plastic will cloud up over time and it cannot be disassembled for convenient cleaning. Vitamix devotees know this, but I don’t like the blend-to-clean, then rinse and air dry methods Vitamix recommends, so I don’t use it. I do not understand why Vitamix continues to use this crummy plastic or why they won’t make a dishwasher safe carafe.
We had completed the purchase of a 7500 when we discovered that we could buy this replacement pitcher for our existing blender. It was making terrible noises which were all due to the pitcher, which was 10 years old (so outlived its 5-year warranty by 5 years). The company was so pleasant about refunding the purchase price of the 7500 blender and we were very happy about that. We have had the new pitcher for several weeks now and it is working very well. No more horrendous noises and as far as we can tell, the motor will last at least another 10 years. So overall, it has been the best purchase we have made in our married lives.
I've now gone through two of these and both have failed in exactly the same way. I'd recommend you avoid this product as there are no parts or repair options. The blade assembly is on this container is different than the one one the standard 64 ounce container. The shaft that holds the drive gear is longer and I think this causes problems with the bearings failing quicker than on the standard blade assembly. My first one lasted about 3 years (just past the warranty period) the second lasted just over one year but as it was a gift, I don't have a receipt so Vitamix has refused to help. They've clearly stated that there are no parts available and they do not offer repairs even at my own expense. The only option is to buy yet another.I'm not anti Vitamix at all. I have a 64 ounce container that's functioned flawlessly for nearly 10 years now. My complaint is with this product and complete lack of support. I've always recommended Vitamix to people and in fact just bought one as a gift for my daughter a few months ago. I've seriously questioning my loyalty considering the large range of good options that now exist.I'd highly recommend sticking with the tried and true 64 ounce container despite it's size.
I received my 48 ounce container for the 5200 model in 2016. (The 5200 base unit had received occasional use from 2013-2015 with the 64 ounce container.) This 48 ounce container has a three year warranty. Prior to 2018, I used it several times a week, by which time it was discolored by the ribs after many mocha frappes. Beginning in 2018, I adopted a healthier diet. It received daily use in 2018-2019, and in the past year, I have used it 3-4 times per day for smoothies, shakes, supplement drinks, soups, spicy hot cocoa with homemade hempseed milk, gluten-free sweet potato bread dough, and beautifully emulsified salad dressings. Above the ribs, on the round 1/3 inside top of the container, I could no longer remove cocoa stains, even with scrubbing. I finally wore this container out. In the last two weeks, it didn’t spray from the top, but leaked slightly underneath at the bottom, and when cleaning the bottom outside of the container, I would discolor my dishcloth with a black substance that looked like the rubber bottom. So, if you buy a Tritan container, it won’t remain pretty, but it may well last longer than its guaranteed life. I hope this review gives someone an idea of how to budget for a replacement blender container. If looks are important, plan to replace it at least every two years. But If product utility and longevity is important, consider making a line item in your budget for a 54-60 month replacement schedule. As the base unit still works well, I upgraded to a stainless steel container which I received today, March 1, 2021. RIP, Tritan 48. (BTW, my 64 ounce container is still useful for larger blends, or for the very occasional batch of frozen margaritas, and for puréeing hot soups made in my Dutch oven. It is still pretty, but it spends most of its time in a cabinet). I am on a special diet, and I usually cook for one to two servings, unless I choose to refrigerate salad dressings or freeze meals for later.
The 48 oz. container is far superior when it comes to making small batches. This is because the tapered, narrower base makes it easy for this container to create a vortex with less ingredients than is necessary with the 64 oz low profile containers. In addition, the 48 oz container is large enough for all but the largest of recipes.I really wish all Vitamix blenders came with the ability to choose which size container that you prefer. My dream combo would be an A3300 blender with the tall thin classic 64 oz. container that comes with the 5200. I realize that the Classic 64 oz. container does not work with Ascent blenders; I just wish that it did.
