I purchased these fans (2 of the same type) because I had a similar Vornado fan that had just conked out. I have had this for a couple of years. It's a fan, used seasonally - It should last a good number of years. But not this one. It just stopped working. And of all the unusual things I've seen in my life, this fan has a fuse in the plug. A tiny fuse that you cannot find a replacement anywhere. I wasted too many hours looking all over for it (ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, small independent stores..., using the online chat (a waste of time) and calling customer service....To make a long story short, I am looking to buy another brand. This company should be reported to EPA for polluting the Planet with waste (their lousy products).

Worked great for about a year until the motor ceased up and the blades were only spinning slowly. Yet the cheap $20 fan I have is over 6 years old is still working. How pathetic. $50 well spent…….NOT! Avoid this hunk of junk and buy a different fan somewhere else. Will never buy another Vornado product ever again!

For a little machine, it packs quite the punch. Bought this for my upstairs hall to help with the other fans in the bedrooms. The window seat on the west side of the house gets very warm and stifling especially during hot days. My central air conditioning doesn't quite do the job on the second floor. Figured a small fan up there would help move the air around. Oh boy, does this do that very well. It's quiet enough on the first and second settings for sleeping. The controls are easy to understand. Some might not like them on the back of the fan, but I've had no problems with it at all. Has been on constantly for over a week now. Works well, lightweight, easy to clean, what's not to like?
Well, maybe not the only one but it certainly is the only one I can comfortably sleep with at night to keep me cool. Moves air nice and quiet with just enough ambient noise, not too much and not too little. I tried a bigger model up from this one and although the quality was great it was just too powerful. This one on the lowest setting is perfect for the nightstand or desk, providing a steady force of air while not being too intrusive. You absolutely get what you pay for with Vornado fans especially the 533.
This fan puts out more air and uses less electricity so its the ideal fan.It really move far more air than its small size would lead you to believe, its powerful and quiet even on LOW setting.Highly recommended for putting out more air than other fans its size.
The Vornado 533 is small and quiet on setting one.I mainly use it to cool my amps, preamp-dac and DSP. When I want to clear out a room the loud 2 and 3 settings get the job done despite it's diminutive stature.I can't figure out why fans are made with the highest setting first on the dial and the lowest setting last. That's probably because I use the lowest setting almost exclusively. I don't ding the unit for that. It's just counter intuitive to me.Great quality, and comensurate price.I think $50 is ridiculous for a fan this size.$25 for the fan and $25 the Vornado name. Oh, well. I guess it's better that buying a $25 piece of garbage. Vornados are the best. I'll pay the premium.

Vornado does have an easier and smoother control and 180 angle steel bar adjusted to angle it up while turboforce does have a flimsier plastic to turn up as well. But in my honest opinion it’s all just down to price at the end of the day. And Honeywell without a doubt gives you great cooling for its low price making it such a huge hurdle for this vornado to overcome. I will replace my turboforce since this fan is technically better but do not be a stranger to turboforce when making your decision as that unit has helped me a lot during that brutal CA summer heatwave this year.
This fan does have a strong airflow, and is rather pinpointed in direction. Used it in front of an open window to help draw in fresh cool air at night while AC was down for repair and I'm glad I did. You can actually ricochet airflow off the wall to better circulate in a room. Quiet on low settings, white noise-type level on high, didn't bother me while sleeping.
who is the most reliable fan of them all?i have tried so many different brand fans- and this is definitely the most reliable. i used to buy the cheap ones, whatever was on sale, but after a couple of years they just decide i'm not doing this anymore, this is not the life for me, and proceed to fan heaven. This generally happens at the height of summertime when fans are no longer on sale. Vornado lasts minimal 25 years, well the one i had at least. When it finally died i just went out and bought a new one. Another plus about vornado is you can feel the air circulation, whereas cheapo fans after time you can barely feel the breeze. You may as well pay the extra 20 dollars for an extra 20 years versus buying a new fan every 2 years.
