Like the 12x and I carry a tripod and when sitting for long periods it was great to take the long looks. Good edge to edge. Definitely met my expectations. Never thought I was underglassed.

These things are amazing the UHD is much brighter and crisper than the original Razor. I love how they feel in the hand and the 18 power is more than enough for most my hunting needs. Early morning and Late evening glassing is so much easier now in cases where it would take 15-30 seconds to determine an object is now done almost instantly. The adjustments are smooth. If i had to knock it the only thing I would like to see is an added tripod adaptor included as 18's are difficult to hand hold. The accessories it comes with are amazing and if they would add the Tripod adaptor it would be by fare the best kit on the market.I cant stress to you all how much more clear and crisp the UHD glass is give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Used mine hunting first time and they were excellent. Performed amazing in low light conditions in the morning and evening. I even compared to Swaro SLC's and truly could not tell a difference. Combine that with the slightly cheaper cost and the unconditional warranty and these are the perfect choice. If I was including the bino harness that comes with these in my review I would give them 1 Star. The case is a piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and buy the binocs and when you get home, throw the case in the trash. Excellent optics, Terrible case!

For the past 7 years I've been using the Viper HD 10x42's... which I loved but felt like they were limiting at far distances of 500+ yds. This was the top end of my budget and compared to the others (Maven, Zeiss, Nikon, Leupold) that I considered around the same price, these UHD's were the best in my opinion. I absolutely hate carrying the extra weight & bulk of a spotting scope so, my main goal was to find some bino's that would allow me to see animals at long distances and replace having to carry my spotter..... these UHD's absolutely did this for me. They are a bit larger than I'd prefer bino's to be but for the purpose they serve is worth it. The first hunt I took them on was a January Buffalo hunt in the Henry Mtns of Utah. They worked phenomenally in the bitter cold without fogging up. Putting them on a tripod for spotting animals long distances works great and I prefer using both my eyes vs one when I'm using a spotter. I highly recommend!!!!
I bought these UHDs as a substitute for some Swaro 15x56's. They are cheaper and when I compare them to my Swaro 10x42 SLCs I can not see the difference. A pro might see a difference but I do not.I wish I could have had access to some Kaibabs to see if there is a difference in the HD vs UHD glass. I decided not to wait for a comparison and just bought these. Read all great reviews. I have used these over water during my initial uses, getting a feel for them and the new tripod I bought. I will have long days looking through these during my upcoming hunts.
I was in the market to replace my 16+ year old Audubon Birder's Bausch & Lomb 8x36 binos that I've been using all this time for birding. I wanted to get "the last pair of birding binos you'd ever need in your life" so decided to really go upscale. The cream fo the crop IMHO are the Swarovski ELs, 8.5x42 which commonly sell for >$2,500 which I couldn't justify the price, so started looking for good binos in the $1200-$1500 price range. Did a lot of research and finally decided on the Vortex Razor UHDs in 8x42.I've had experience with Vortex's riflescopes, which are definitely and deservedly at the high end of scopes, and this is why I focussed on Vortex Optics, however, I was looking at them from the perspective of a birder, *not* a hunter, as bino demands are ... MoreI was in the market to replace my 16+ year old Audubon Birder's Bausch & Lomb 8x36 binos that I've been using all this time for birding. There's pros and cons for both, but decided to go with the UHDs
I have been into bird watching for several years now. I started with the Vortex Viper 8x32 binocular which suited me fine in the beginning. I then got a pair of Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42’s and was very pleased with them. But as I read more & more great reviews on the Vortex Razor 8x42 UHD specifically for birding, I recently treated myself to a pair and I absolutely love them. The color & detail are amazing and although a bit longer then my Zeiss, they are weighted in a way that are very comfortable and easy to use. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
I have several sets of binoculars and enjoy these very much. They are large compared to smaller binoculars yet that is what you expect just like a large scope. Bigger is always better yet, if you must carry it up hills, it will be heavier. That said if you want to see better you have no choice. I can look into the trees and see animals earlier and later with these 12x50 UHD's. I also have a set of 18X Canons which are stabilized and have good glass and fairly sharp but are too heavy to carry while hunting unless you are setting and glassing. These at 12 power are almost as good because they are so clear I don't want to carry a tripod and without stabilization you just can't scan with anything over 12x all day. I can use these all day out to 300+ yards and see crisp ... MoreI have several sets of binoculars and enjoy these very much. If you need great binos and you are not hung up on the myth they have to costa fortune to be any good...The Vortex Razor UHD series are some of the best optics available... at ANY price...I had great optics in the USAF and I would take the Vortex Razor UHD 12x50 over those and any German,Austrian...etcoptics I have used...they ARE that good..!!! The Razor UHD binos are especially noteworthy considering the way over priced competition...the components and construction are top-shelf....get em'whilst you may....!!!! Thom MauckPS Matthew helped me once again and offered up his exemplary customer service...GoHunt is the way to go...!!!!
Never thought I would ever buy Vortex binoculars but after trying these I was sold. I had a pair of Cabelas Euro's10x42 which were pretty decent but the clarity is definitely several steps above those. These are longer and thinner compared to most 10x42's so they don't feel as beefy as most. They have a real good wide view, excellent clarity in the early morning and evenings. Well worth the price but still a step below the Swarovski but price difference for thos in my mind is not worth it.
