The Good: Come on, you know what you’re getting here. Sparkly cleans and raunchy overdrive. Stick a treble booster in front of the normal channel and you’re off or use the top boost channel and you’re in U2, Tom Petty wonderland. The Bad: Reverb is blah, fortunately you can upgrade it for about 30 bucks. Tube snobs will want to purchase a new set along with the amp and just change them out right away. The Ugly: Nothing at this price point.Purists may scoff at this amp but it’s the closest we will ever get to Vox glory. It’s made in Vietnam but is well made and built like a tank. This amp doesn’t chug and shouldn’t be used for that effect as there are better amps suitable for that but it does the 60s/70s classic rock thing beautifully. Also bears repeating that ... MoreThe Good: Come on, you know what you’re getting here. Sparkly cleans and raunchy overdrive. Also bears repeating that this amp is more than gig worthy. The Beatles didn’t upgrade because their amps weren’t loud enough, it was because the crowd were TOO loud. Save your back and ears and try this before picking up an AC30.

Straight up, this is one of the best amps I've ever owned.Vox just makes the coolest amps, and this particular model (a steal at this price) will truly blow you away. It's bright and sparkly and truly sings with every strum. I've been using it with my Fender Telecaster, PRS Vela Semi-Hollowbody and Gibson Les Paul, and it brings out the best clean elements of each of those guitars. It is especially gorgeous with that deep bluesy tone of the Les Paul. This is a Vox amp so clean is the name of the game. It can produce a serviceable distortion tone, but you really want to be using this for your clean guitar work. It is also an excellent gateway projector for guitar pedals, so if you do want this amp to bring you gorgeous cleans and sick distortion, it will work ... MoreStraight up, this is one of the best amps I've ever owned.Vox just makes the coolest amps, and this particular model (a steal at this price) will truly blow you away. If you are looking for the '60's Classic Vox tone based on an all tube design, this amplifer meets that need and is a great value. Overall, very well built. Power / volume at least for my purposes are more than adequate. I purchased a "bleshmished" model and thereby saved some money. In my case, it appears the blemishes were a couple of slighly cracked cabinet corner protectors. I removed them, applied some super glue and reinstalled them on the corners - no problem. If I have any criticism about this amp, it is the fact that the manufacturer uses relatively then plastic cabinet corner protectors rather than all metal (as on Fender amps) and at least a much thicker, rugged plastic. IMO, this would have been nice feature that would not have added significant cost. In my case, it is staying put in my home studio, so it is not a big deal to me. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I have been looking for a great clean, pedal friendly amp for awhile. Had a '65 Deluxe Reverb RI that I wanted to like, but it didn't have the most headroom for cleans, and I didn't like the breakup or how it sounded with my TS9 or EH Soul Food. So I traded it in for an AC15. This AC15 is awesome. Has a master volume which is helpful. Crystal clear cleans, and great with overdrive pedals. It..is...loud. But you can still get decent sounds at lower volumes. Playing a telecaster through this amp is a match made in heaven. Good for anyone looking for the Vox sound at home, but don't want the blistering loudness or weight of an AC30. Highly recommend.
I love the jangle of the top boost channel. Medium saturation sounds great. High saturation is almost Marshall'ish. Both are sounds that I'm familiar with. Not super impressed with the clean sound versus my Blues Jr., but it works...... a bit "ice pick" in the eye. Reverb is adequate, as is tremolo. Overall, this is better than my Blues Jr. Great for recording, small/medium venues, great footprint size. I'm going to install some JJ tubes, as I've read good results online with others doing this.
I have wanted one of these amps for a long time. I owned the ac10 and that was a good amp for the money but couldn't compare to the warmth and power of a tube amp. I don't gig out anymore so my fender blues junior has been a great little companion for the living room and does a great job for an inexpensive little tube amp. I've had it for over twelve years and it's all stock and still sounds as good as the day I bought it. I finally decided to upgrade to the vox AC15 today. I have to say that I really missed that vintage British sound that vox seems to so easily capture. This amp sounds so good it's almost unbelievable and at a price that's more than reasonable in my opinion. You could easily spend twice as much for half the tonal quality and build quality that you get with this combo amp. These AC15s are legendary work horses and are known for years of reliable service even under the harshest conditions. I got mine brand new today and wasn't able to put it down for hours. It will never leave my house so I'm sure it will provide me with years of trouble free enjoyment. It will definitely be the last amp I will ever need or want to buy
This is for the blue speaker AC15. I've never owned a Vox before so I took a chance on it. Great sound, it's a loud 15 watts, we have a loud drummer but this keeps up and will have no issues at gigs that are mic'd up. Really cuts through the mix, cleans are surprisingly excellent, but this thing really shines cranked up. We play mostly rock music but I imagine it could handle any genre. The alnico blue speaker is a must for me, I tried the greenback (it's good) just not my thing, the blue is louder, clearer, and more articulate. The only drawback to this, is that it's still a bit heavy for a 1x12, other than that I only have a great things to say about this amp and highly recommend it.
Overall:I am very pleased with the Vox AC 15 C1. The first thing I did was change the tubes to JJ EL 84 and Tung sol 12 ax7.I upgraded reverb tank to an accutronics. I don't consider changing the tubes an upgrade. I would probably want to do that to any mass produced amp. The stock reverb tank needed improvement. I expected to make these mods before I bought the amp. It's a great value and an elegant looking piece of gear. I will put an Celestial Blue in the cabinet, not because I am unhappy with the green, it's just something I want to hear. This 1x12 amp is a little heavier than anticipated. I think it's a great values as priced. It's still a great value if one decides to upgrade reverb tank and install a different speaker.
Oh, WOW! High quality manufacture, terrific sound and volume, excellently and safely packaged and arrived as promised. Beautiful, archetypal Vox chime - crunches and drives spectacularly when cranked up. Lovely reverb and tremolo. Quite a substantial thing and heavy with it, but I'm over the moon with this amp and if you're thinking about getting the same because you like the Vox sound - don't hesitate, it's everything people say it is and more when you're actually standing beside it. It might say 15 watts on the back but boy is it loud when you crank it up. Separate channel and master volume control means you CAN get it to work at lower volume levels. Awesome :)
I started off with a solid state Laney that had a crunch mode and I fell in love with that sound from the moment I first heard it. I then spent the next ten years going through different setups trying to find that sound in a gig friendly amp but I only really tried Marshall's and Fender's.After years of frustration from trying amps with combinations of mods/speakers and OD pedals I finally heard a guitarist using a Vox AC15 in a pub gig and THAT was the sound I'd been looking for and since purchasing it I've never looked back.I can get sparkly cleans to perfect crunch and then great distortion (if needed) from this amp. I play a lot of Beatles, Stone Roses, Blur and Oasis so its a very Brit influenced sound that I'm after and this amp along with my Gibson Les ... MoreI started off with a solid state Laney that had a crunch mode and I fell in love with that sound from the moment I first heard it. At low bedroom levels any tube amp won't sound too great with pedals but if you can open this up at the volume it was designed to play at then it sounds great with anything you put through it.Other reviews have said about the lack of an effects loop on this amp being an issue but honestly, once you plug an AC15 in you just get lost in the playing without worrying about anything else because their super clear sound cuts straight through in a band mix and sounds superb on its own.All in all I'm really impressed with the Vox AC15c1 and can happily say that I won't be looking for another amp anytime soon, except maybe to upgrade to the hand wired version...
