Jangly clear cleans when gain is down, breaks up nice turning the gain up and reacts really well if you stick a decent treble booster in front or even overdrive. Could do with an effects send and return but this is a common comment. I use it with a Line 6 M13 at the mo from the line out of the MV50. Highly recommend for Brian May, Eric Johnson, Beatles, Hank Marvin, etc

Once you get a speaker cable plugged in it feels very cramped. I'd much rather that the power switch was on the front.Lastly, I wish I could get 50 watts @ 8 ohms, just for the headroom. This is giggable for me at 25 watts into 8 ohms & still gives you good headroom, but YMMV. I primarily use single coils. With hot humbuckers I don't know if you'd run out of clean headroom or not. With all 50 watts you'd be fine, I'm sure.

There is good to great tone in there, depending on your needs. Again - the 4 ohm load to get 50w is a bummer. But not everyone needs that much power. The small box is pretty cute and a cool conversation starter - but for practical purposes something slightly larger would've been a better idea, IMO.

I bought this amp as I have occasional gigs that require low volume and minimal gear. Testing out with HEADPHONES with gain totally off. it is spectacular. Great bass without muddiness, great highs without harshness. Very pro clean, balanced sound. Unfortunately this sound doesn't transfer to a gig rig situation. I set it up for a gig through an 8 ohm V30 loaded cab, giving 25 watts of power, and within minutes of playing I realised that it just hasn't got the power even for a small gig. Luckily I had my CRATE and switched over to it to save the day. Conclusion: Great practice amp especially through headphones. Not really loud enough to gig (Maybe through a 4 ohm loaded cab!!!) I use this little head with a 1x12 Seismic Audio cabinet in which I installed a Jensen 4-ohm speaker, to get the biggest headroom possible. I run it with a compressor and I am able to use pedals for all my needs, as it loves them all: a Delay, a Chorus, a Digital Reverb, a Cry Baby Wah, and a Wampler Triple-Wreck distortion box. But it sounds fabulous even all on its own. Everyone wants to know what I'm playing through. I am a tube-tone fan and this little head does not let me down. It is as warm and punchy as any tube amp I have. You NEED one of these, or any one from the MV50 series.

I got a Line 6 combo, a Fender Mustang III combo and a Peavey XXX head to use but right now I'm playing everything thru this little Vox....pretty amazing technology. And the price...in the magazine review it said it would retail at $279 and was surprised it hit the street at $199. Probably will have to explore getting the AC or Rock version, but really maybe not if I can add a distortion pedal in the chain and it sounds good.

The simple eq is voiced really well, with all set to about 12 on my US strat I get a very nice SRV Lenny esq tone, plug in my Les Paul with really lively pick ups at same setting and I’m getting something I’d compare to the lead guitar in Tin Soldier from the Small Faces. You have to marvel at its size. Its the size of a soft drink tin. If space is a consideration then consider this amplifier. Its quite an attractive unit; its appearance is so nondescript it could be any kind of device. Power it up and its glow transforms it into a mean looking little beast; poised to do a job. Headphone jack makes it the perfect practice amp. Carry it anywhere. A technological break through rivalling the rock man and guitar fx plug ins. Connected to a cabinet however, the beast growls. Three controls deliver clean and crunch you can really work with. At the price, Im not sure you can do better. Good things come in small packages.
I’ve owned a Vox amp so was quite happy to purchase the same make of Cabinet.Not a lot of features, as it’s just a guitar cab. That said, it’s well built and sounds great and surprisingly loud.I’ve bought from dv247 before and their service is excellent. Price is also very competitive.I would recommend this wee Vox box.If I’m picky , there is a white binding around the grill and it doesn’t match up perfectly.. but overall it’s amazing.

I've tried it with 2 ten inch stage monitors that have 3x7 horns, hooked up parallel for 4 ohms and now I'm playing through a home built cab with 15" woofer, 6"mid range and horn tweeter (8ohms). This one sounds really great. I have two of these cabs and will hook them up for 4 ohms as soon as I dig the other one out of the closet.I like that they put bass and treble control on the clean amp. The Zoom G1Xon sounds good playing through the Vox head and it can get VERY loud on some settings. The Vox amp seems to like it fine and does not heat up. The pedal does cause some noise and/or hum on some settings, but I think all overdrives do to some extent.Anyway..... great little amp..... great sound..... easy to haul around. What's not to like. Take the handle off and it will fit in a pocket of your gig bag.Steve K.
