My suggestion is to go slow with your sections (slower than a usual straightener) as this really gets the steam through to smooth your hair piece by piece. It took less than 15-20 minutes to do my whole head of wavy hair and I had BUTTERY soft locks, even my partner couldn't stop touching it because it was so incredibly soft and luscious! I read a lot of reviews before trying this which said it's bulky and heavy but I didn't find this to be true, it's only slightly wider than a regular straightener and the same weight (without water base) the benefits of the steam vastly outweighs the minimal extra size. I have used MANY straighteners from GHD, cloud 9, remington and this is the BEST out there. Highly Highly recommend for the wavy / curly haired girls!

I can now confirm i have found this product This product makes my hair feel: - Less Frizzy - Long - Hydrated - Healthy - Luscious - Natural - The steam straightener has 5 heat settings for personalised temperature control (not many hair tools have this many heat settings) - The Detangling Comb on the hair steamer is removable if this isn't something you wanted to keep although i found this amazing for my thick hair - Wide Plates for faster straightening for larger sections of hair - you can leave the base station at home and take the straightener wherever you go and just fill up directly In-between sectioning/ brushing your hair you can place the hair steamer on the base which will automatically refill the steamer. The one concern i have is the size of the product and where best to keep as it's quite a bulky product. Other than that i absolutely love!!! I have had none stop comments from colleagues, random people in the shops, family and friends when i use this product whereby people have asked if i have been to the hair dresser. Is that not saying something!!!? FYI i'm no hair expert and i would say a beginner at hair. I also had my mum and my nana try this product and without any assistance and they both were able to figure out how to work it as well as the base station. My mum has similar hair to me: thick, course, frizzy and she absolutely loved this product. I'm very excited about the new model VS with steam function, it is priced similar to my old device ($200, $my old device was 185). I have thick, unruly, over voluminous (Asian) hair, and always hard to style. First I tried 200 degrees (manufacture recommend temperature for my hair type) without steam, With a couple of slightly bigger plates, it is easier to use compared to my old device, but it has yet to deliver the shining effects promoted by the brand. However, it does take some practice to get used to the steam function. First, the heat protection glove (came in the pack of the device) is a must, the steam will make your hair hot for longer; Second, you'll need to keep it away from your scalp and ears (if you really need to use it on roots, I'd strongly recommend using without steam). Overall, I'm pretty happy with my new straighter, it works great both with and without steam. However, the steam function does allow you to style with a lower temperature which will reduce heat damage over time, but if you are in a hurry have no time to fill the water tank, it works wonders without steam too!

Overall I love this hair straightener as its well thought and smart design. Easy to use design and it is gentle on my hair while give it a good result. The adjustable temperature it's a bonus as I can adjust the temperature depending on my hair such as when it's natural vs. colored with hair dye.
I've never used a steam straightener before so I was keen to see how it would perform compared to my current straightener. Part of the trial I recieved the straightener, hair glove and the water tank. The straightener is so pretty with the black and the rose gold platting and touches throughout. It looks very luxe. I found the straightener to be overall bigger to what I currently use. The handle itself is a similiar size to most tools, but the plates where you feed the hair through is a wider plate which for me I found a benefit because it allowed me to straighen more hair at once and eliminated the time it took to do my hair. Win! Part of the trial I recieved the straightener, hair glove and the water tank. The straightener is so pretty with the black and the rose gold platting and touches throughout. It looks very luxe. I found the straightener to be overall bigger to what I currently use. The handle itself is a similiar size to most tools, but the plates where you feed the hair through is a wider plate which for me I found a benefit because it allowed me to straighen more hair at once and eliminated the time it took to do my hair. Win! This is how you generate the steaming part of the styling step. There are 5 heat settings which means you can pick your desired setting best suited to your hair type. I have frizzy hair so I leaned towards the 180 setting. There is also a inbuilt brush on one end of the plates which I found super helpful as it brushes out any nots throughout the styling process. I have used the straightener to curl my hair mostly, and I have noticed the finished look is mooth and sleek. I have noticed my hair is shiny and it's eliminated the frizz and help control my flyaways. The next day my hair still has the curl which is a big plus. I have also noticed I get more wear time from this straightener as I often find the next day I have to wash my hair as it will often get oily.
I have been using my old straightener for the past 10 years so the VS Sassoon Steam Straight Brilliance - VSS9900A is definitely an upgrade which I am very impressed by the functionality and result. My first impression is that it looks and feel very luxurious and high quality. I have natural fizzy/wavy hair with dry ends and the straightener works amazing as it was easy and quick. The conditioning steam technology gives back shine and the healthy glow into my hair. I really like the 5 heat settings option rather than manually selecting the degree by going up 10degree at a time. I am really impressed by how fast it heats up like within 10-20sec. Unfortunately my curls didn’t last more than 8-10 hours however my hair does stay straight the whole day. Overall, I would only use this to straighten my hair because I got my own curler to curl my hair. The straightener is indeed very heavy so it also makes the process very tiring while curling my hair. I love there are options provided to refill water into the device as I don’t use the refill base station due to the small size of my vanity. It is very considerate for the brand to include a water pump for manual water refill.

My first impressions was that the straightener comes packaged really well, there is a flip up lid with clinically proven results, before and after and a QR reader to scan to see how it tames even the frizziest hair. After watching the tutorial, reading the info provided and going through the manual I decided to use the straightener with the steam function first. As the opening in the water base station that you attached the straightener on to fill up was quite narrow I used a kitchen funnel to fill it up. You can also fill up the straightener with a pipette that is also included but for reviewing purposes I wanted to use the base station first. After filling the base station water I sat the straightener onto where it connects which i found really easy to do. I put heat protection glove onto my left hand as I would typically hold the straightener in my right and touch my hair with the left. After that I checked the little water compartment on my straighter and saw that it was full and ready to go so I pressed the on button, then the steam button and then used the temperature +/- button to select my preferred of 220 degrees as my hair is very thick and frizzy temperature. There is 5 LED heat settings (140°C to 220°C). I sectioned my hair to use which took a total 15 mins all up I used the comb which is optional to start with but felt it pulled quite a bit of hair out so turned the straightener off to take the comb off then used the straightener without it. After straightening all of my hair I checked the water compartment on the straightener (which I also did throughout using) and only used 1/2 of the water compartment on the straighter so in future would use pipette to fill up the straightener and wouldn’t use the base station. The plates on the straighter are wide (the widest I’ve used) and with steam with my thick frizzy hair couldn’t get as close to scalp as I usually would. After straightening my hair my hair was quite boofy, it was straight but I don’t think the steam worked well on my hair, I had to straighten over it with my regular straightener. I then decided next time I needed to wash and straighten I was going to try it without steam - Having very thick and frizzy hair I used the straightener the second time around without steam to compare my results I again used the straightener on the highest setting which was 220 degrees. I have always used the highest setting on all my straighteners as a lower degree then 200 just wouldn’t work for me. After washing and sectioning my hair I pressed the power button on and selected my preferred temp 220 degrees and started gliding slowly over my hair I started from the back then worked my way to the sides of my head all the way up to the top. This was my first time using a straightener with wider plates, at first I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get close enough to the roots but without the steam and also taking the comb off this time I got just as close as I would with a more slimmer straightener plate. I found it straightened my hair well and much better then it did with the steam. My problem areas being my frizzy roots responded really well and I ended up with smooth, frizzy free hair. I would recommend this straightener to those that’s hair responds well to steam, and also to those that it doesn’t who could use it without the steam option. This would be a great straightener for those with families as it provides options for all.
