I bought this spray gun about 6 months ago and it has earned its keep! Some of the best money that I have spent for painting things. I have painted a ceiling, walls, doors, retaining walls and house gutters. For using inside I actually prefer the traditional brush and roller for ceilings and walls as I find it easier and the paint in the air makes it difficult to see sometimes. Anything that I can move outside or into the garage is perfect! I've removed our internal doors, scrubbed with sugar soap, a light sand and coated using Dulux Aqua Enamel... worked fine but make sure you dilute the paint.I then purchased a paint called Dulux Rapid Finish that is specifically designed for spray guns and is the perfect paint thickness straight out of the tin so not dilution ... MoreI bought this spray gun about 6 months ago and it has earned its keep! This paint in these guns worked amazingly. I have painted the entire gutters of our house and a huge amount of our retaining walls with more to go. This little spray gun alone now that I have nailed my technique is worth the money.Important tips:- I carry a rag with me and in-between sprays I wipe clean my nozzle to ensure no paint build up or blockages.- Half squeeze the nozzle to get their air moving and then apply full pressure to bring the paint through and make sure you are moving the gun whilst spraying.- Make sure you clean the spray gun very well after every use. Clean all parts with water then fill the clean pot with water and run a whole pot of water through the sprayer.- If you get any blockages start by removing the nozzles and clean them.- All of the paint spatter I have had from experience has resulted due to 2 reasons (I needed to clean the gun or nozzle OR I didn't dilute the paint enough and it was too thick). For the price and the fact you get 2 different pot sizes, I would 110% buy this again. Thanks Bunnings.

One of the most disappointing products I have ever used. It failed on the first use, burning up and emitting a strong burnt plastic smell when I was 30 minutes into staining my fence. When it did work, I would have rated it a 2/5. The spray pattern was poor and it drips after the trigger is released, creating a huge mess. I spent a bit more and purchased an airless sprayer from Canadian Tire instead and am very satisfied with it.

Since you don’t know about this, you will think that the unit needs cleaning.e) When the inevitable mistake happens, drop sheets won’t deal with the mess that will result. So, you can’t trust the results you will get from this unit. When it fails, you will get a lot of paint spilt. Best that you are outside at that moment. If you haven’t already bought the unit, DON’T!

Was recommended this in store. Purchased it, instantly quartered the time taken to stain the outside of our house. Functions flawlessly all day without intermittent cleaning, thorough cleaning at the end of the workday required. Have been spraying Resene solvent based oil spray and it is flawless. Salesman was iffy as to whether it would handle oil stain bit without doubt it is ideal. One MUST mask off all windows, doors, down pipes and light coloured flashing and drop sheets are a must as the spray droplets go meters away from the target. An organic chemical respirator, eye protection and overalls are a must have also. Werner also have a raft of good YouTube vids to learn about use and cleaning it. An organic chemical respirator, eye protection and overalls are a must have also. Werner also have a raft of good YouTube vids to learn about use and cleaning it. Excellent volume control and velocity, due to the two stage trigger it is not necessary to "back brush" the surface as you can just blow air on the first trigger stage in order to blow the paint across the surface and spread it around if needed. Overall worthy of the expense in saved time alone.
I had to paint my deak. I was worried about the big job of cleaning and staining the large deck. It made the job easy but over the 2 days I spent on it 2 of the guns burnt out. The big problem is the Lowe’s does not warranty it. So you have to send the bill back to get a refund. The next problem is the guns are a lot more expensive now than when I bought the gun originally. Both of the spray guns burnt out with under 5 hours on each one. I then picked up a cheep spray painted from princess auto that costed a lot less and lasted longer. I thought that by buying a big name expensive gun it would last longer and would not be a problem but not true. I will never buy overpriced junk again.
I have used my Flex 590 for several projects, ranging from deck staining to professional canoe refinishing to exterior house painting with a very thick water-based paint. It worked well for the deck staining and house painting, but not for the canoe refinishing. After several months since the last use, the nozzle just broke-for no apparent reason. I had a spare, so no big deal except for the nozzle should no-way-ever break like that. Which leads me to agree with some of the other, less positive reviews. Cleaning and understanding are key to proper/successful use of this unit. It takes patience and some technical understanding of how things are supposed to work. It's not intuitive, so buyer beware. Cleaning and understanding are key to proper/successful use of this unit. It takes patience and some technical understanding of how things are supposed to work. It's not intuitive, so buyer beware. I like the unit. It has served me well, but the plethora of less-positive reviews makes me apprehensive. Durability needs to increase. Instructions need to be more concise and large-enough print size that an older person can read them. Let's hope Wagner takes some of this to heart and improves things. Otherwise, learn how to use the unit, be careful with the parts, and make absolutely sure you keep it clean--nozzle, O-rings, seals, bleeder holes. So, yes this is a positive review, but with reservations.
Had this about a year now, it's generally been a champ. I've used it almost exclusively with oil based epoxy enamels, and zinc metal primers. I've also put a fair of etch primer through it, without any major grief. Definitely wash it out as soon as you're done though.I had a close call with it early on, nearly cooked the motor after getting paint in there. Just remember, if you need to unscrew the nozzle for any reason, unscrew the paint pot to release the pressure first! Otherwise it can splatter paint throughout the motor, and it took some warranty voiding disassembly to clean out the motor that was not intended to be disassembled! The little blue silicon non return valve has recently failed on my detail sprayer (which is what I use for metal paint) and it's ... MoreHad this about a year now, it's generally been a champ. Otherwise it can splatter paint throughout the motor, and it took some warranty voiding disassembly to clean out the motor that was not intended to be disassembled! The little blue silicon non return valve has recently failed on my detail sprayer (which is what I use for metal paint) and it's unfortunate they don't sell replacements, for now I've pinched the valve out of the bigger spray pot, and I think an aquarium NRV should be a cheap easy fix.Otherwise I've just never had many of the problems that so many complain about with any kind of handheld airless sprayer like this, just get the settings right on a piece of cardboard before aiming it at a meticulously prepped workpiece, and apply all the general techniques for a quality spray finish as you would with a pneumatic gun. If it's spitting or just not coming out real good, RTFM! Plus Wagner have some pretty good clips on YouTube for most things that can go wrong.I'm more than happy with the finish it is capable of, it's not hard to stuff it up with dribbles and splatter, but without too much effort it's easily in the same league as most rattle can finishes, assuming good prep work of course. Probably wouldn't paint a car with it, but a trailer, sure.Just ignore the bit that says not to ever use any flammable paints or solvents in the sprayer - get real, just what kind of oil based enamel & suitable thinner isn't flammable? Can't blame them for trying to cover their rear, but

Looked easy enough. Used a water based Dulux outdoor weather resistant paint. The advice was that the paint would not require thinning. The advice given by the paint store specialist who had himself painted a pool fence with similar equipment. The wife and I got started and within 2 hours had 90% of the fence painted. We used the fine detail sprayer (as advised), and filled the 850ml paint canister 5 times in that first 2 hours. At that stage we were all smiles and everything was OK.As we prepared to attack the last two fence panels, the sprayer appeared to get seriously clogged up. And the usual trick of wiping the front of the spray nozzle was not working. Finally the blockage was cleared and the spray gun was working again, but it was spitting out clumps of paint, and we had to once again stop. This is where it all went horribly wrong. As I unscrewed the spray gun nozzle to thoroughly clean it from the inside and out, paint started to spew from the tube feeding the nozzle, I thus then unscrewed and removed the paint canister to stop that happening, and continued to clean out the nozzle. Five minutes later i had it all clean and reassembled. I pressed the trigger on the gun to spray, and the Wagner gun tripped the RCD (safety switch) on my home power board. I reset and repeated this several times, and then stopped. I then disassembled the Wagner spray gun, and was horrified to see that fence paint had gone backwards into the motor assembly, as far as I could see. It became clear that the paint was shorting out the spray gun motor, and that the day's painting was over. With only two panels to go, we completed the job with brushes, and cleaned up. During the clean up exercise I found that the one way pressure return valve on the paint canister was seriously clogged up, and needed some serious scrubbing and picking to get it cleaned up. In a video the next day I watched a DIY'r warn about removing the nozzle with this clogged up,and realized that this must have been what went wrong. The return valve is pretty flimsy and prone to getting 'stuck-down' by its very design. I think this is a major flaw with this little but expensive toy.In the aftermath, I recall the Bunnings sales person making it clear they don't do returns on the Wagner spray guns, if there is a problem they told me to deal with Wagner directly. I did some Googling and discovered that getting paint inside the motor is not a warranty repair, and that a replacement blower/motor assembly is around $200.I concluded the best course of action was to let the paint dry out as much as possible inside the motor, and then have a mate who's a licensed sparky pull it apart. I then scrapped and pealed 80% of the paint from inside the motor. The rotor seemed to turn freely. So it was re-assembled and powered-up. And test run. Seems to work OK again.Note that puling this apart voided the (almost useless) warranty. Though it was going to the bin next anyway. So my advice if you're thinking of buying one of these is that you very soberly consider the unusual return terms on this item. Also consider how easy it is to totally ruin this very expensive sprayer if it gets clogged up. Make sure you are very familiar with all the components, and have a plan ready for when it clogs up, so you can try to clear it without filling the electrics with paint.Putting the motor/blower assembly right behind the paint feed is in my opinion another major design flaw. Electrocution is a major risk. Liquids and 240V AC should always be well separated with no conceivable chance of intermixing in a hand held device.
I almost returned this without trying. BIGGEST problem is prep required before spraying. The air literally lifted my canvas drop cloth off the floor and away from the wall - prompting me to have to tape it to the tape I had already put around the room to protect the carpet. If you don’t have your plastic really anchored (says cover 24†around the ceiling to keep from getting overspray while painting walls) it will flutter the plastic and pull it loose.Regardless of how little or how much I adjusted the air and material OVER SPRAY over everything in the room - including me. Didn’t matter how close or how far away or how low or how high the settings. I’m used to HVLP automotive type guns and that probably adds to my disappointment with this one. Big difference in being able to manuever that gun vs this one. There’s nothing about this machine that I would recommend using it over rolling the paint for interior painting. Just too labor intensive before you can even start painting. I think exterior painting would be a place for it to shine. It is really easy to use - easy to clean.Customer service is outstanding, easy to reach and that’s the reason I gave it 3 starts instead of 2.
Completely useless and CT return policy is even worse. Turns the paint into snot and sprays globs of paint onto your project. Does not have enough power to actually spray exterior paint even when thinned toThe maximum amount. Don’t waste your money. CT ONLYWILL OFFER AN EXCHANGE why wouldI want to exchange this for another unit that also won’twork! What a jokeWill take my business elsewhere next time and hopefully someone else won’t waste their money.
