Are you still love getting the gluten free butter cookies made by this brand, but they were discontinued. So obviously when I saw these, I thought they would be just as good. However, I'm not really a fan of these cookies. To me they taste more like slightly sweet barely flavored paste than a shortbread cookie. The texture is odd, and not at all like a shortbread cookie should be.

One of the things I really missed when I first went gluten-free was the shortbread cookies that you get in the metal tins at Christmas time. So I was very excited to find these!. I was extremely disappointed. They taste nothing like the cookies in the tin. They are too soft, not buttery enough, not sweet enough, and the texture is all wrong. That being said - I have a friend who is gluten-free who LOVES these and swears they taste the same as the cookies in the tin. But they are not fo me.

The flavor was great but you can’t buy these in the store, they only ship and they arrived in complete crumbs. It’s not worth the time and money to go through the process to return these. Maybe if you’re making some sort of layered dessert.
I have ordered these a few times and have enjoyed them every time. I typically order them over the Christmas holidays but this year I ordered some more thanks to their tasty buttery flavour and crispiness. With a mug of Earl grey these are my go-to GF shortbread (unless I get homemade of course). I recommend them.
I was given these for Christmas and immediately ordered a few packets of both the plain and ginger lemon flavour. Wow and not just “good for GF”. I would choose them over non GF and that’s a big statement from me as I love shortbread.
I was going to order these from Amazon, but every review mentioned the cookies arrived in crumbs. Walmart got it done with every cookie completely in tact. Some of the best GF cookies I’ve had, for sure. Only 9 cookies in the box. Serving size is 2 cookies and it says ABOUT 5 servings per box….just say it’s 4.5 servings!
Fortunately, just because I must be on a GF diet does not mean that I cannot enjoy Walkers butter shortbread cookies. They taste almost as good as the gluteneous variety, and they taste a whole lot better than most other GF cookies. I would like them even more if they were not so sweet. I tend to do most of my own GF baking because all that extra sugar does not help the gut. But these Walkers cookies are great when I don't have time to bake.
Great flavor, but please have some tea or milk at the ready. Very dry.
To me, this gluten free version of Scottish shortbread tastes the same as the original. And I have eaten both. It seems remarkable to me that such an excellent recipe for a gluten free version has been found, one that avoids the problem of crumbling while maintaining excellent texture and flavor. My only regret is that only one box was available.
