Better than air beds
12 January 2023

This is so much better than the traditional air bed, it's like sleeping on a normal mattress. I had the best sleep and highly recommend this product. Only negative is that it's somewhat larger than a normal air bed when it's flat and rolled up, because you can't fold it in half due to the memory foam topper. Excellent product, no pumps required, self inflates.

Comfortable, but not convenient

I bought this mattress thinking it would tick both comfort (on account of 12cm thickness) and convenience (on account of self inflation) boxes. It ticks the comfort box, but any convenience gained by its self inflating is lost when it comes deflate time. Is a real effort. Deflate pump is a must and even then its a task. Also the thing is massive. That's on me though, I purchased online before viewing, so this is not contributing to the poor score, but anyone considering purchase needs to see this thing in front of them before buying. Lesson learned for me. To add salt to the wound, the underside of mattress punctured after first use, and I couldn't fix with the supplied puncture repair kit. So I've had a bit of a rough experience with this one. We've had the bed for two camping trips now and it's just as bad as the first trip. I brought the bed based on the great reviews from campers. I envy how it's met their expectations but somehow hasn't lived up to the same standards for us. I do hope it continues to serve others well. Before we even went on our first camping trip, we did a test run at home in the backyard. Tent, bedding, lighting. Everything. The very first moment from when we rolled out the bed, it didnt look right. It wasnt fully inflated. So we manually blew in air in to the bed (as recommended) which would have been fine, had it worked. We noticed that by blowing up the bed, air bubbles were forming in random sections, so we stopped. It's described as "12cm thick, making for an ultra-comfortable sleeping solution". Imagine sleeping between hard ground and a thick folded towel. That's a more accurate description. To make up for the poor investment (because it's not a cheap one at that!) we've been using a thick bed protector. This has made the world of difference. That said, we shouldn't have to use some type of subsitutue to fix a feature that's part of the product which is; comfort.

Might have got a dud?
18 April 2022

I told the sales person I’d had spinal surgery and needed something that wasn’t going to deflate whilst I was sleeping on it - also that I was going camping right then as in we were on our way to camp! I’m unsure if I got a dud/a return/or it’s just the way they are however I left the 4 ports open for the 7 hours before I went to bed, did all 4 up prior to bed and was sleeping on the hard floor when I woke. The next morning I told my experienced camping friends who all said to leave it to inflate all day and it should be better that night - I did this…no bingo!!!! I would’ve been better with a $10 inflatable bed from Kmart, at least I would’ve expected to wake up on the rocks! Unfortunately it hasn’t convinced me to become a ‘camper’. I spent over $700 in store and ... MoreI told the sales person I’d had spinal surgery and needed something that wasn’t going to deflate whilst I was sleeping on it - also that I was going camping right then as in we were on our way to camp! Perfect for camping and overnight stays
19 January 2023

Great mattress, perfect size, super comfortable and easy to set up, money well spent. I’m 55kg and hubby is 190cm 95kg and we both slept well. I didn’t get “bounced off” like an airbed 👍 Lost 1 star as my hubby said he needed more padding on his shoulders. (Don’t sleep on your side all night!) Also because it is HUGE when rolled up and definitely could not roll it up by myself (but that’s why a married a BIG man to do it for me😊) anyway for a camping trip or overnight stays it’s perfect

Perfectly comfortable
4 December 2021

Just bought this after doing a lot of reading about what type of camping mattress to buy. I wanted to stay away from air mattress and had a medium budget. Have set this up at home and we are very happy with how comfortable it is. Not bonded so you do get some ballooning like someone else commented but by the time I put mattress topper and sheet on you couldnt really notice. I was nervous about packing it up after reading some other reviews but it was actually simple enough with the two of us, just simply rolled it tightly and had no problems. And obviously it is a bulky item but if it means I get a good night sleep while camping, definately worth it.

Super comfortable sleep on our family camping trip
21 May 2022

We bought two of these mats (a queen and a double) ahead of tent camping trip with 4 kids and my mum. Super happy with the investment, and the very comfortable 3 nights sleep we had on them. My mum insisted the mat she shared with the 8 and 6 year olds was more comfortable than her mattress at home! We laid a couple of woollen blankets underneath and found them quite well insulated against the ground on the cool nights we used them (down to between 9-12C by the beach in May). I read quite a few reviews before purchasing and took a few pieces of advice on board: I rolled both mattresses out and allowed them to inflate and stay up with the valves open for several days at home before using them for the first time. On the day we arrived I left the valves open for a few days until we were ready to sleep. Between the two mats and an extra practice run I’ve packed them away by myself with only a toddler for ‘help’ 5 times and haven’t found it difficult, just a little physical. A few reviews mentioned the carry bags were too small to squeeze the mat back into but I didn’t find this to be the case at all. I wonder if the design has been updated in response to feedback? In which are, kudos to the manufacturer! As per advice, I folded in half to squeeze out air before starting to roll—worked a treat!

These things get a bad wrap as some people don’t allow enough time for it to expand prior to use. Additionally; a double is made for two people, not one. One person on a large mattress pushes the cushioning air to the opposite side making for an uncomfy sleep. Follow these rules and this thing is super comfortable and worth the money!

Wanderer Tourer Extreme Queen Size Self Inflatable
19 June 2022

We recently purchased this as our first self inflatable mattress after using 'normal' airbeds for years and sick of them going down overnight leaving you on the hard ground. the 12cm is a little misleading as it just isn't! But, in saying that, with two people on it you dont hit your hip on the ground when rolling over. There's a lot of carry about the size and getting it back into the bag. The unit is big, really big, but the biggest problem for us was the width. At 1500mm wide in the bag it only just fits into our Old Rangie, and it just won't fit into the newer car. So we have played around with it and the solution was simple. We can quite easily roll it so that its only 800mm wide in the bag and it slips super easy into the stock bag, so we are clearly rolling it well. Nut it's not hard. We are in late 50's early 60's and manage it with ease. Makes it so much better to pack in the car when it's pretty much exactly half the size of what the store delivered package was.

This is basically what id expect from a camping mattress, it isnt comfy like a normal bed but i dont expect that, it gave enough support to get a decent sleep and i found inflating and deflating easy enough. Two people to roll it is alot easier tho. A handy tip for the first inflate it can take several hours so i inflated it at home before going away and the second etc inflates where alot quicker roughly 30mins. I did find tho the air doesnt reach right into the corners. Definitely beats those cheap air beds.
