This SSD is super. It's just the right size and it perform as advertised - very fast. An excellent addition to any Gaming Laptop. Just make sure the size is suitable. I had to remove the heat spreader and use one that came with my laptop. Mainly due to my own system being quite compact. Seems to work just fine with temperatures ranging from 25 to 40 degrees under load. Highly recommended, even with my having to remove the heat spreader.

This is a very fast drive, but with speed comes HEAT, which makes it all the more confounding that the thermal pads attached to the heatsink were making almost NO CONTACT with the chips (see pics). I ended up having to remove the heatsink and replace the thermal pads with a thicker 2mm pad. After posting this issue online, it turned out I'm not the only one. Great Product. No issues once installed. Asked about website from electronic coworkers will definitely buy from again. Please purchase from this site no other store has with heatsink. Once again please buy with heatsink , you will see similar models cheaper but read fine print they don't have heat sink. Western digital is a legit website. I had my doubts also but took a chance and they didn't disappoint. Please read above about heat sink. Most people don't stress this but I'm doing it.
The WD SN850 and the Seagate FireCuda 530 are the best NVMe's for upgrading your PS5, as after all the upgrades and installations have completed, you are only left with just over 600gb. After installing Horizon Zero dawn (PS4) and Control (PS5), I was left with only 460gb. So, yes you need to get a storage upgrade. I have x16 PS5 games and lots of PS4 games which run at a better frame rate with a 4K graphics upgrade. So this was a no brainer, make sure you upgrade your PS5 firmware to the latest version or it won't recognise the NVMe storage. Also, one it formats the NVMe for use, I found that it gave me inaccurate read speeds of 5156 gbps when it should be up to 7000 gbps. This SSD does the job as advertised. The only reason I cannot rate higher than four stars is not due to performance but due to cost. The SSD works great in the PS5 with no noticeable difference except a slight noise ( I mean SLIGHT) when copying games to the drive, it makes a very low ticking type noise, but not loud enough where you should be concerned. It installed in the PS5 easily, and was recognized and formatted to the PS5 in seconds and ready to use. This SSD is priced a bit higher than others and that's the only thing I can give as a negative, but with prices on SSDs dropping rapidly, this may be a non issue soon. If you need an SSD for your PS5, this one works great.

This is a fantastic solution for expanding your Sony PS5! Lightning fast processing speed...dare I say it seems quicker than the Sony's own internal SSD, because it definitely performs well. Very easy to install too and has a sleek included heatsink as required by Sony's specs. I also have a WD_BLACK 5TB External Driver for my PS4 games - which I've had for more than a year and have been very happy with the solid build, durability, and responsiveness. It was very simple to migrate this drive over to my PS5 so that I have all of my content on one system. It's no wonder that Sony supports this internal NVMe SSD Gen 2 expansion!
Works perfectly providing you full/additional 1TB of storage ( console’s 667gb). Games run great (reads actual 6,500 MB/s). Very easy to install (5 minutes). Hardest part of install is being careful removing the PS5 cover panel :) This SSD meets all PS5 requirements, including pre-installed heatsink. Figured I write this to also offset other review giving it two-stars without even trying it (misleading to someone considering it). Only negative is that the price is steep (lookout for sales that knock it under 200). Having said that, it’s competitors (Samsung) are similarly priced.
This product works as designed and is fantastic. and yes it works perfectly with an area51M R1 or R2 alienware laptop--BUT YOU MUST REMOVE THE HEATSINK WHICH HAS A HIGH CHANCE OF DAMAGING THE SSD AND DEFINITELY WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY OR RETURN. I RECOMMEND BUYING THE VERSION WITHOUT THE HEATSINK which apparently is more expensive due to higher demand.(fine print) A51M is only gen3 whereas this SSD is Gen4 so the SSD is capable of much more speed than the laptop can take advantage of, but I'm sure you will not notice the difference short of HDD speed benchmarks. This SSD even reduced to Gen 3 speeds is still incredibly fast.Full review points as the product is great, not it's fault Dell made the alienware with no room for a decent heatsink.
