Before I go any further, I will point out that all the USB drives attached to my computer are not turned on all the time. They are only switched on when I want to transfer data in or out. The longest that I have had this drive turned on is around 12 hours (for the initial data transfer) and the usual "live time" is around one hour. This may be different to the way others use their HDDs. Having said that, I'm very pleased with this drive. It's BIG and fast, I was getting up to 130 m/sec on the data transfer (all mp3 files). After only a couple of weeks, I can't comment on its reliability yet, though I already have 1 x 4TB and 2 x 6TB WD drives that are 7 and 4 years old respectively and all three are still working perfectly. You may ask why 12TB? The one thing I have ... MoreBefore I go any further, I will point out that all the USB drives attached to my computer are not turned on all the time. At the time of purchase, this drive had the lowest cost.

Not a full 12 tb. When installed gives only 10.9TB useable space!! So far works well - for the price.

It's OK, Has not packed up like WDs SANDISK ULTRA USB flash drives do so often! Time will tell, so far so good! Works well.
Great size and stylish external data drive. Good advice given by JB member convinced me to go ahead and purchase.
