Doing a standard three-run copy and paste from Windows 10 x1809, I averaged 400 MB/s read speeds and 350 MB/s write speeds. Keep in mind your mileage may vary depending on what your actual hardware configuration is. I've used this continually for a few weeks to bring files to/from work and home. It's worked flawlessly, is very portable, and a good buy in my opinion. There isn't much else to say in this case. It's a very small, light, external hard drive with great read/write speeds. If you're in the market for something like this at this price point, then I can definitely recommend buying this drive.

It’s really a good middle ground if you’re really looking for something close to a flash drive in size but with bigger capacity. It’s worth noting that I used an OCZ SSD packed with mkv files to perform big file tests. The OCZ drive has tested out at around 790 MB/s in read and write. This was to ensure I didn’t encounter a bottleneck with this drive during testing. Honestly, this little guy can outpace a lot of laptop SSDs even today so that’s pretty cool in my opinion. The speed of transfer is wonderful and it is very capable of transferring large amounts of data quickly. Bought this to serve as a Time Machine backup drive for my wife's new Macbook Air, running macOS 11.6. About one and a half months into its life, it's performed flawlessly. Had I not had the experience of using a similar WD USB-C 3.1 SSD for the last three years at work, I probably would have sought a cheaper option. The speed of USB 3.1, and my experience with that similar drive, were enough to convince me that it would be up to the task of handing off to a user who doesn't want to fiddle with things. So far, it's proven itself. Having replaced a USB 2.0 drive, the USB 3.1 speed is a delightful upgrade. I would purchase this again.
The product itself works, but you have to figure out how to make it work with lots of googling and work arounds. I spoke with a WD representative for over an hour (he was very friendly) but everything he told me to do did not work. YouTube and google and other people figuring out the work arounds are what actually got this product to function for me. I would go with a different company to purchase this product next time so that I could skip the 2-3 hours of trying to make it work like the directions say it should.
