Ordered 6 WD Red Plus drives for a NAS. The NAS accepted 4 of the drives but not 2 of them. Mac Pro disk utility returned 0 MB on the 2 defective drives, 8 TB on the good drives.B&H return process was quick and painless.

I’ve used Western Digital drives in the past and have never had any problems. This drive was no exception. Drive worked out of the box as expected with decent read and write speeds. No complaints.

I got three of these they all passed clean in bad blocks and smart checks. They are not overly loud, but I would not them on a system that sits in my desk, entertainment center, etc... Seem to be a good value / quality initially, I have not them long enough to speak in durability. I did pick them up in store to avoid small container shipping.

I'm running two of these in Raid 1 on a 2bay Synology NAS. So far so good. Hear a bit of clicking when they read/write, but they're not too noisy and seem to run cool. As I'm not really running applications off of the NAS I went with 5400 RPM drives over 7200 RPM. I figured they would run cooler and quieter. In this case I prefer reliability over speed.
I spent an hour trying to figure out why I couldn't initialize the drive. Turns out, the drive is DOA. It was put into a box without any packing material. I was a little too optimistic. The lack of spin up noise should've been a sign.I'll update this review once I get a replacement.
Purchased these 8tb drives for my Synology 1813+ NAS, the installation was smooth and the drives are running strong. They replace the WD Red Plus 6tb drives that have run without issue for years. When I am ready to upgrade again it will be with larger WD Red Plus drives. Great product.
I've always been happy with Western Digital drives. I've had 4 of them in my NAS for years and 1 of them finally died. This is the replacement. They aren't loud or get too hot. Wish they cost less but I couldn't afford to wait for a sale.
Nice drive.Works well and reasonably quiet. Using them in DS1522+ NAS.Recommended.
The WD Red Plus 8TB Internal SATA NAS Hard Drive delivers exceptional performance, reliability, and compatibility for NAS users. Its 8TB capacity and 7200 RPM speed ensure fast data access, while its quiet operation and minimal heat generation maintain a stable environment. Designed specifically for 24/7 NAS setups, this drive is perfect for both home and small business use. Although priced higher than some competitors, the WD Red Plus 8TB's features make it a wise investment for those seeking top-notch NAS storage. Highly recommended for an unparalleled storage experience.
These particular 8TB CMR drives are very well suited for use in NAS devices when considering the time needed to add to an array, replace a failed drive, or install for stand-by use. The are also quiet when installed and used in a desktop computer. The 3-year WD warranty is a plus as well as frequently on sale.
